oh - and he's playing with Travis Kaka and Laupepa Letuli, both really well-known and respected musicians in the Hawaiian music scene.
I started watching you both for your BTS reactions and had no idea you listened to Josh Tatofi! He's an amazing performer with an amazing voice and comes from a long line of Hawaiian music biggies (his father Tiva is 1/3 of one of the most legendary contemporary Hawaiian music groups, Kapena). He brings the R&B vibe to Hawaiian music. If there are any other songs you appreciate of his that are in Hawaiian and want to know more about the song itself, let me know - I'm happy to share.

Thanks for your detailed analysis of Josh's technique and delivery. I really love the timbre of his voice and his higher range. If you have a chance, check out his OMV of Hawaiian Lullaby. He has been referred to as the Polynesian Luther Vandross, and this particular song is a gem.

That vibrado you guys were talking about is prominent in Hawaiian singing. He has many beautiful tracks in ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi. Nani kona leo.
I am subscribed and learning. As a singer/ music lover I have broad spectrum of listening pleasure and only the live performances that exhibit raw talent catch my ear. Josh is one of those people that made me listen. Love what you guys are doing !!!

I’ve recently started watching y’all because the pov Ariana Grande video was recommended to me.
I Just wanted to say thank you! I’m a singer myself and I’m not classically trained or proficient in music theory at all, majority I just go by feeling and emotion, and while I’m so often inspired by folks like you who are so knowledgeable, I’m always intimidated because I’m not technical and probably do things with my voice that might not be the best lol but why I wanted to say thank you is that while you both share such awesome technical knowledge, you both love and encourage the artists right to express and just do them ♥️ that’s so encouraging while I also get to watch your videos and learn techniques and different viewpoints of how to use the voice!

Those breaks Josh doing….similar to laughing I think you described….reminds me to how similar one of my ultimate favorite artists does all the time, Aaron Neville. Is it actually the same?
I love, and feel the most comfortable, singing in my head voice/falsetto and try to emulate Aaron…Peter Cetera and a Legend here in Hawaii in Traditional Hawaiian Music, Dennis Pavao, when trying to sing myself or just to practice.
Do you suggest a better way to improve my voice for this type of vocals….or for tenor? Do you both give vocals lessons too?
Appreciate any and all help you may be able to share.

So familiar with Chris Stapleton’s rendition it was difficult listening without comparing. Josh Tatofi is so smooth. Chris Stapleton has a more nasal sound (twang?). Appreciate the way you describe how different sounds are produced.
