@@louisejones5773 no. It is a progressive town. I lived there as an openly gay woman working as a federal meat inspector for a plant in Booker Texas, which is 15 minutes away. It is minority majority and pretty much everyone leaves you the hell alone.
My thoughts are with all over you affected by this 🙏 I couldn't imagine going through something like this. I hope there is no one hurt or killed. 🙏

My husband and I were just there in May visiting our friends . They are ok Thank God! This is so devastating.
I lived in Follet Texas when I was 19. Spent a lot of time in Perryton end actually put paneling on the walls in a building. That was forty years ago. Wow
We had a couple go through here in SE Michigan and NW Ohio area at the same time as this. 6/15/23 6:00 to 7:30pm est.
Ohio nado was a large one. Saw it on radar as it was happening
So far,3 dead and 50 to 75 injured .
Was there any warning? Shelters? I know sometimes you just don't have time. I'm so sorry. My condolences for those Families lost and injured. Terrifying! I wish I could come help.

Don't take anything out of context or get all triggered, it's just a question. But why are people always surprised when a tornado appears in a place that is well known and prone to have tornadoes? Know what I mean? Like these people were told, yeah you can live here for the nice weather/cheaper to live/ etc. But there's a very high chance of a tornado forming any day of the year, multiple tornadoes a year in fact. That'll destroy everything you own and or built, you and your family can die from these events multiple times a year. Then a tornado comes and does exactly that, and everyone's surprised. What? 🤦♂️🤷♂️ I'm also super stoned rn watching tornado videos. 🌪

I wonder if something like a one cent sales tax could be used to aid tornado victims in the various states this problem occurs. This can happen to anyone that lives where tornados happen. A tiny state tax could really help in times like this.
Or, just as an idea, certain states could stop electing climate change deniers into office, and stop vilifying the very people and agencies that have told us for decades that precisely THIS was going to happen. Texas is one of the first states when it comes to gutting the EPA and blocking environmental legislation, so yeah, you reap what you sow. If Texans are so adamantly against "government" and "regulations," perhaps they need to suck it up and grow a pair, because this is what their future is going to look like.
No to adding a tax !!!! That money wouldn't reach those needing help with how government is these days. A GO FUND ME account would be much more reliable.
Don't worry...the Federal Government will come in and help...even help silly Republicans who lost all.

The residents are in our thoughts and prayers. I used to go thru there about once a week when I moved fracking trucks to the oilfields and into Kansas. Our crew would always stop and eat lunch or whatever meal it was in Perryton. A small, quiet and very hospitable town.
Some would say it is a blessing for new beginnings

I lived here all my life and seen plenty of these tornadoes had one right in the back of our house long time ago.. people who said they're used to these things I have never gotten used to them and I still scare the hell out of me😮.

Dear Texas, are you Alabama? I witnessed several NOT take cover when an F5 was coming in 2011, there in North Alabama.. Zero movement toward safety. Zero underground life saving shelter. Total confidence in their combined "experience". Use your best Dukes of Hazzard southern accent and say "it ain't gonna hit here".
