  • Hello!
Here the video about how to easily design a box grater in FreeCAD, a daily object in kitchens. PartDesign, Draft and Part workbench are the workbenchs used to make the design.
I hope you like this video.

    Hi,
Nice video, as per usual !
At the beginning, to obtain a hollow box, you also can use the function "Thickness" after having selected (by clicking on them) the upper and lower faces of the box (options: setting the thickness to 0.5 mm, and generating the thickness inwards). It seems simpler to me.

Have you tried it and got not problem with the thickness tool?

@@OffsetCAD Yes, I used the thickness tool straight away, and I didn't have a problem (but actually, I wondered if you hadn't had a problem since you didn't use it!). I have already noticed that FreeCAD can react differently on different computers, perhaps because their computing power is different? Have a nice day!

Hi, thanks for the video. very creative idea to make the grater with the revolution but at the end it's not so sharp as it should be. I would consider to make it within Part workbench with a plate and inclined cylinders array and a boolean cut. It's worth a try?
    Cheers

What do you think about using an Elipsóide primitive on PartDesign, it will much the sharpness?

@@OffsetCAD I've tried with cylinders and cones using Part wb. I got better results with cones. 2 cones more specifically. 1 cone fused to a rectangular plate in order to get the budge/boss and another smaller acute cone (reduced diameters compared to the 1st one) and inclined around 15º to obtain the sharpest edge as possible and the chanel trespassing the bulge and plate. I'll supply a link to my Google Drive later.
I also thought about the usage of the ellipsoid indeed. You can make a video if the result is inspiring. Cheers

      Good, very good!
A few days ago I tried using ellipsoid. I looked good, despite the difficulties FreeCAD had, always breaking the shape.
I'm thinking about making a video, but it will be uploaded later. I've been really busy with school these past few months.
