A perfectly nice chap called Gareth Dennis lost his job as a track engineer because he spoke out publicly about the dangers and inevitable accident that will happen at Euston due to overcrowding. JOE should have him on to educate the normies about trains and HS2
Hit 200k today. I'm really grateful for all the knowledge and nuggets you had thrown my way over the last months. Started with 14k in June 2024
Congratulations on hitting the 200k milestone! That's an incredible growth from 14k in just a few months - what strategies or investments did you implement to achieve this remarkable success?
I'm beyond thrilled to see your progress! From 14k to 200k in such a short time is amazing. Would love to hear about your journey and the key decisions that led to this success.
Hello, how did you achieve such monthly returns? I'm a newbie and I've lost a lot of money investing on my own. Please how do I go about it, the year is almost coming to an end, how can I make profit?
As a beginner, it is essential that you have a mentor to help you stay accountable. In my case, Elizabeth Marie Hawley has guided me for months and I highly recommend her. I focus on her. To be honest, I'm almost hesitant to let someone take charge of growing my finances, but I'm so glad I did.
I'm desperate to turn my finances around. I've been working three jobs just to pay off debt. Can someone please share contact or information? I need her help.🙏
Taking the train to Europe is excellent. Way better experience than flying and delaying with airports.
I work in aviation, and I will still take the train where I have the option. Train has bigger seats, power, , Internet, can walk around, a bar/cafe with food and drink, clean toilets. It's almost a no-brainer.
I think the people who are critical of them have surely never taken one.
Now Oli knows how Ed feels when he and Ava gang up on him lmao
Ed has changed
He's a dad. Leave him be fella 😉
Ed at home:
DAMN IT! You beat me to it!
Good lord!

can we have a regular slot with Jacob Hawley?
No. Ed is much, much better.

i think we get an Ava's Ex story every podcast
1400 escooter accidents, of which 1050 were hit by other vehicles (cars presumably, maybe some were other scooters or bikes). 12 deaths, of which 11 were scooter riders. 1500 casualties, of which 1150 were the scooter riders.
So scooters are arguably unsafe to scooter users, less so than showers etc, but are considerably safer than cars or motorbikes (both to users and others) and proportionally similar to bicycles.
This isn't to say they should be able to do whatever, and I personally wouldn't want a stand up one (and on the fence about sit down scooters), but the evidence is clear they are safe enough to be legalised and legislated similar to electric bicycles. Guidance for future legislation recommends allowing throttle use (for disabled users and to expand use as a net gain from a health position), so they would naturally align at that point.
Thank you very much for this comment and evidence.
I hope it won't damage your argument much for me to say cars fucking suck. Electric cars also bad.
@grey-yem if cars of any kind were invented today, not a century and a half ago, we'd never allow them near the public. The entire debate around electric scooters being "too dangerous" actually helps demonstrate this well lol.
And yeah. Electric cars will save the (Chinese) car industry. Maybe. They won't save the environment - most are not even that good at reducing pollution compared to the more efficient ICE cars, let alone ebikes and such - and it won't stop the millions of people directly or indirectly harmed by them currently.
"I think she's good at speaking...Just not in that room!" It is unfortunate then that speaking in that room is Badenoch's job for the next 4 years.

As in she'll be removed, not an election in 2 years.
Gone by Christmas.
@guyremon I reckon they'll want to use up another year to get closer to the election.
@@mrdaveythebabyconservatives swap their leader more often than most people have hot dinners.
I really like the format of having someone on the pod who is a bit less politically aware. I'm not saying the OG trio are in the "Westminster bubble" but it's nice to get another perspective
As one of the 3 people who watch both the kick off and politics joe, this is revolutionary
Does anyone watch the kick off anymore
I hate Euston, it’s awful. Disorganised and dangerous. It’s horrendous. Nothing works properly.
I am so emotionally invested in my hate for Euston and its abysmal systems.
I used to run from Kings Cross to Euston regularly when I was travelling to uni and back, my train into Kings Cross was always late and then I’d have to sprint to make my connection.
The amount of times I missed my train by seconds because Euston is a hellscape I stg
And since they redeveloped it it's got worse right? The journey from Underground to mainline hall is horrible.
@@joethompson4223 it’s so much worse! The flow of traffic is none existent. It’s just people walking into people and because it’s London and everyone is so stressed they just barge into you. It’s awful.
I feel like a lot of "anti-e-scooteer" arguments are just anti-cyclist arguments, e.g. the running red light issues. Also the big e-scooter benefits come from big companies like Voi and Lime but the speeding scary ones are often modded private scooters
There are good arguments against them, like the explosive battery issues and/or the environmental impact and/or vandalism and waste etc, but that doesn't get talked about as much. Feels odd.
Agree 💯
Treated with the help of a passer by nurse an e scooter rider who concussed herself. At least until her Somali husband dragged the trained help away. Regards shouldn't ride them. Only regards actually do.
30:50 Higher wages for workers and more time off for workers as a whole also just means more people can afford to get a haircut at your barbers, you get more bookings and pull in more money.
more wages = more shoppers = more foot traffic = more profit
Stops it being hoarded up in a rich bankers account but there's more flow.
I think we should be capitalising on our other airports like Southampton, Newcastle, Birmingham, Cardiff, Glasgow, Edinburgh, East Midlands, Leeds/Bradford, Bournemouth and Luton before we make another 3rd runway at Heathrow. Let’s encourage more tourists and holidaymakers to go to those airports before making Heathrow bigger. Maybe if anything nationalise all transport (airlines, airports, trains, trams, buses) and provide more transport links in all cities (trams/bus links) as well as bring back Terminal 1 at Heathrow before you add another run way?
Also carbon offsetting with AI and data storage centres are such a big issue - we need to deal with it now before it’s too late. That’s what will drive the climate crisis into the next decades ahead
I've been a mental health nurse for about 25 years now, and if I am honest, I continue to have infinite patience with the ideation of a mental health patient, as opposed to 3 mins of Kemi in PMQ's.
The more liberal we have become the more people suffer from mental health issues - this is replicated nearly everywhere who has run this, perhaps well intentioned, experiment … why is that ?
Doesn’t like Corbyn, actually a red flag that’s like insidious. Never again please.

I worked for a major Telecom company around 2005, and we got a new CEO who said he would rather be CEO of Google (explosive growth) than our stable turn the crank and profits come out. So he laid off 40% of our workforce, assuming when it grew 40% back he would take credit. Kemi seems to say at 5:00 that the economy was growing
when tories left ignoring any prior 3/6/9 months or 14 years. Imagine the growth if you rejoined EU and the Tories gave back half the money they stole.
when did they become conservative?
Didn't know Joe Lycett has a son.
bit odd position by olly here. that you can only care about stuff if you are personally and directly impacted by it. Most normal people care about kids education, even if they dont have kids, understanding a good education system is not only a good thing in and of itself, but that it benefits everyone. its odd how he is basically saying he did not really care deeply about it until it directly impacted him because he has kids being educated. does he stop caring when they become adults?
oh, btw, car drivers run red lights all the time. Every single traffic light you'll see someone go through on red, often more than one.
To play devil's advocate, he describes it as 'caring in a way that you might not have before'. Which I don't think implies he didn't care at all about education etc prior to being a father, just that he views those issues slightly differently now. I'm not a parent and I definitely care about education as a rule, but perhaps not as much as someone who's child is currently going through it
@@lil_winky8372 Yeah, I quite agree. I've always found it *annoying* when people say this kind of thing, but I'm annoyed because of their tone, not because I think they're wrong. I think parents' worry about future generations has a very tangible connection that my very real, very passionate concern doesn't. I'm pretty sure my worry is as impassioned, but I also know there are many issues I was passionate about, and then gained a renewed vigour on after perspective-enhancing experiences.
Ava is ridiculously right wing - increasingly so over the last year, I used to think it was a joke - but I’m pretty sure the joke is she’s not. Result of the Twitter algo
While i sympathise with Amy's annoyance, Kwasi Kwarteng has just gone up in my estimations. That sh*t is funny.
Edit: Also, I am 100% on board for pedestrianised cities. Create employment for pedal-powered rickshaw cyclists for taxis and freight.
And mandate that every rail line must also have a parallel cycle path. With intermittent shelters for fixing punctures etc when it's raining.
Jacob's explanation about why small businesses don't shaft their staff and like workers' rights legislation is a genius explanation - clip it and send it viral!!
The government are not paying for a stadium. Old Trafford is a area and they are paying for housing, local businesses and also upgrading the transport. Man united are helping with land, linking business and investing too so that they can build with governments permission. But the club will pay for the stadium, some bits around the stadium and local community infrastructure as part of an investment package. I say this as an arsenal fan and similar happened when we built our stadium. I worry that the major news outlets don't understand local government and infrastructure planning. This could lead to the public feeling they are buying a football stadium when they are actually investing in the community
Came for the PMQ analysis. Stayed for the e-scooter chat
Best collab of all time
So Badenoch's position is that Labour are carrying out the Tories plans, the Tories could have donenit but didn't, and nowbthe Tories are objecting to their own plans and saying they are rubbish?
That's correct. And Labour, knowing they are rubbish, because the author is telling them they're rubbish, will implement them anyway. Instead of generating some original ideas that aren't rubbish.
@incidentallygeeks yeah, the Tories were huge on employee rights.
It's what she does every week. Frightening.
@@mrdaveythebaby oh so they aren’t Tory plans?
Do planes landing at the third runway have to pay LEZ tax (congestion tax) If you are having "highlights day" why not swap Oli for Laura?
The 'train people' were absolutely right to give out over that braindead opinion.
Did expect a bit more analysis of PMQs on the PMQs episode, guest notwithstanding.
Do you watch this podcast? Who comes here for political analysis?
@@bensmith6554 Ed and Ava PMQ episodes are generally quite good.
@sockwithaticket it was quite good...if you are here for the banter.
I disagree with his point that small businesses don’t use 0h contracts. They absolutely do. They aren’t great employers, but for people who have other pressures in life, it can be quite hard to leave your part time job to find another one even if it’s shitty.

What is all of this total nonsense about sustainable aviation fuel about?
Well, presently only 98% is dinosaur juice and in the future only 80% is dinosaur juice and that is a reason to expand Heathrows capacity by 50% or something.
Also, flying is basically fine because other people also do it, so just fly twice yearly to Belgium and fuck the climate am I right
Essentially some flights can be fueled by converting cooking oils into biofuels and there are electric and hydrogen planes in development however the massive catch is that these flights will be shorter hauls with fewer passengers (2hrs max, 20-30 people). By no means is green aviation solved at all.
I'll be honest I don't like this guest's cavalier attitude to actual important issues. I won't be listening if they're on in the future.
FINALLY THE ACTIVELY ANTI-NONCE PODCASTS ARE UNIFIED
I don’t know why caring more about education and crime should make you more conservative
4:06 if you have ZERO faith in humanity that is now driven solely on personal wealth creation - is it then okay to be ‘politically homeless’?

As someone who worked in corporation tax and self assessment for HMRC let me just say.
Pay for a GOOD accountant. Ask for reference. There are more bad than good, and you'd be shocked how much you can do on your own if you are capable of adding numbers together.
Kemi doesn't know working people can also rely on benefits
hate for euston runs DEEP with the people who have to use it to get to the midlands. it’s hell in there i can’t lie
I would far rather sit on a train for 8hrs than a plane for 2hrs. Trains are cool. Plane travel is exhausting.
The point about small businesses not using zero hour contracts is complete bollocks. plenty of small business owners dont treat their workers as mates but instead offer bogus self employment
Shame about the lack of knowledge on 'sustainable aviation fuel'…!

Jacob is an excellent contributor… more Jacob please
Sustainable aviation fuel is targeted at 10% by 2035 and CCC already said that’s very ambition. The increased in flights will far exceed the reduction in the emissions from shifting to SAF.
Jacob Hawley is hilarious, never seen him before now! Regular slot please :)
Wouldn’t SF sitting in the HoC be considered foreign interference since every shinner has an Irish citizenship?
first time i’m hearing Jacob not talking rubbish about arsenal

Yes. What I love about Ava is how honest she is. She explained in one throwaway phrase - which no other woman in public would even dream of using - why so many younger women sleep with bad boys. TLDR: They hate them, but they're hot.
Oi get on this

E scooters and cyclists need to be number plated so they get fined from breaking red lights as well as insurance as a legal requirement
28:38 omg such insightful stuff. You're right. Small businesses totally do (or don't do) this

Oh you people write jokes for other people, what a flourishing industry of inventing.
36:48 aaaaahh eva, I’ve always liked you… now i know you are a rebel, will you marry me? 💚
You seem outraged about the pollution a few more planes might give out yet you have no questions about why more planes are required ? Why all this growth is required? Why do we need 10million more imported people ? To support the government overspending Ponzi Scheme? More population is more pollution, more waste, more garbage, more concrete over nature and yes … more planes …. Let that sink in ❤
I preferred Ed before he went Super Saiyan.

Further evidence of misandry from ava.
Like hell it is. What she meant - but wasn't even allowed to explain! - was she's relieved young men are taking care not to commit sexual assault. I will always think her only error there lay in appearing on that ridiculous programme. In which Morgan labels her, pigeonholes her, speaks over her, cuts her off, doesn't give her a chance to respond... and then the station slaps a clickbait headline on it on here, resulting in unbelievable levels of abuse and nonsense.
Ava, if by some chance you read this - please stop lowering yourself by appearing on a phone hacker's show. A phone hacker who conducted a public hate and stalking campaign of a young black woman for the crime of not wanting to be friends with him. An absolutely disgusting man.
Homelessness can be a choice, because there must be an admittance that I cannot attain the common economic idea.

Except that (1) She was right. It very obviously WOULD be used as a weapon in the culture war by right wing politicians who actually don't care about men's mental health or male suicide one little bit (2) She actually reached out to Geoff Norcott afterwards because she regretted how she'd come across and DOES care about men's mental health. Because she's a good person (3) What she said was seized upon, twisted and distorted beyond belief by a pair of horrific wankers (4) The only reason such a ludicrous furore developed is because she's a leftie woman. Many pundits spout all sorts of egregious nonsense all the time. She didn't - but was leapt upon regardless. By arseholes.

I’m not sure why anyone is mistaking Jacob for middle/ upper middle class… ? The guy is from Stevenage!
The problem I’ve found is a lot of the humour from people with a working class background gets misconstrued as being unsympathetic and piss taking, but for most people growing up in that environment we find it all quite endearing and it’s obvious if someone is actually a heartless bastard or not. Jacob is surprisingly insightful at times on his Screen Rot podcast, but he’s also up for a laugh and taking the piss. Yes he’s a bit of a loud mouth but he’s an entertainer at the end of the day, it’d be a bit dull otherwise. I’m not sure what people want from a podcast about mental health but I certainly like a bit of humour to lighten the load, in fact the one thing I’ve found from life is going a bit gentler and lighter on what’s expected and being less critical is a good start to lessening the burden on yourself and free up energy to bring about improvements
He’s not from Stevenage. Most probably born there but raised in the neighbouring county.
