  • Yes, I brought back the Mushu Middle Fingers. That's *always" the sign of a good review, am I right?
I'll answer that rhetorical question for you: no. Strap in, this rickshaw ride ain't gonna be pretty.
I do not own Total Drama World Tour. This is a loving satirical parody of one of my favorite shows, and all rights go to FreshTV.

Cody: It’s not always about the vote, it’s about sending a message…

  • @solomonm.840
    @solomonm.840 5 месяцев назад +10

Looking back, one of the things this season that is starting to annoy me in hindsight is how Cody's vote just... never matters. The Amazons rarely lose before the merge, and when they do, Cody wastes his vote on Sierra in the Amazon episode (although that was a non-elimination anyway), and he accidentally votes for Sierra in "Picnic at Hanging Dork," which leads to Gwen's elimination.
(Ok, I guess I lied, it mattered in Gwen's elimination, but not for the right reasons.)
Then he votes for Sierra in Niagara Brawls, which doesn't end up mattering, he votes for Sierra here even though she has immunity, and he votes for Sierra in "African Lying Safari," which, once again, ends up not doing anything. (That last one's particularly frustrating considering someone else in that vote decided to randomly throw away their vote on an immune Alejandro, but I guess that's not Cody's fault.)
Cody already has too little of a presence for most of this season imo for someone who places 3rd, and this really doesn't help. Granted, he's more relevant by the final 4, which I like, but that's kind of because Alejandro and Heather have literally no one else left to interact with other than him and Sierra.

      Warning--Mini rant imminent!
This is one of the main reasons why it's fifth in my list of Total Drama seasons. I see World Tour as polarizing and controversial on a ridiculously high level, especially because it's plagued with trying to keep up with the Joneses (aka their lauded first season) and failing at that overall. The show, and it's finale, are far too focused on the Aleheather plot with everything else as secondary in order to enhance the main plot or not important, excluding where the writers want to be jerks to us (I.E. Cody's sexual harassment by Sierra and the Stockholm Syndrome he gains afterwards, and the controversial Feral Ezekiel plot), to the point (in my opinion) where if you just remove everything else and leave the Aleheather plot in there, that's sadly all you get from this season.

Ah yes. The episode where Sierra drugs someone with tea and doesn’t care about consent in the slightest when it comes to things like attraction and love. If I may quote Lindsay Ellis here, “Thanks, I hate it.” Seriously, as someone who never liked Sierra in the first place, this honestly might be one of her worst episodes as a character. Also, the song in this episode genuinely sucks. Nothing about it works. If I ever do a ranking of the songs of the season, “Chinese Lesson” would be low on the list. I do wonder though if this episode or Corden’s Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts” shows more respect to a different culture’s cuisine.

Rant Time - Ok, there was the point where I was like screw this season only when it came to Sierra’s character in general. The whole “He has to love me back, he has to!” and I was like NO! To any gender, that’s not a healthy mindset to live by. People don’t have to like you back. Mutual consent exists for a reason and to make it, the weird tea that she drugged Cody (a teen that she tricked and forced into a toxic marriage) was the creepiest thing I ever seen in this entire show which is even worse since Cody has an allergic reaction to it. Pepe Le Pew was canceled for simply chasing after a female cat and force kissing her and this psycho goes on to continue drugging this teenager in front of live TV and get humiliated more than usual. And Sierra still has a loyal and committed fan-base that victim-blames Cody by saying that he stalked Gwen in the first season and should have just dealt with Sierra doing WAY WORSE things to him. Simply put, We all know that if Cody did every single thing to Gwen that Sierra did to him, he would have been canceled instantly and would’ve been called the little white Cosby.

Yeah, any time I see Sierra, especially with her f**king “love tea,” I feel my blood boil and a part of me wants to scream in rage at her. Seriously, not to pull an early Mr. Enter, but who working on the show thought making Sierra the way she is and having her interactions with Cody be the way they are was good idea and why?? Can’t we have Leshawna toss Sierra off the cliff from the pilot episode or into a volcano? That last part might’ve been harsh but I genuinely loathe Sierra and have little to nothing good to say about her. Sierra is to the show what a parasite is to a body. I think that metaphor is like Joseph from Hell’s Kitchen season six in that it speaks for itself.

From this I have to conclude I have no right to be attached to a certain ex-friend who ditched me for writing a story with superficial similarities to hers and threatened that they wouldn't would have taken me to court over it if I hadn't known her for so long and then dumped me after I apologized, deleted all traces of the story, apologized again, paid reparations that I didn't need to, apologized again, apologized again, begged not to lose her and then dared to post a photo of a Christmas tree to a group chat.
I should add that my story had no intentional similarities to hers and I don't think having a gay best friend, having a figure that is not the same but is misinterpreted as the same because pear-shaped doesn't sound so good and having a ring that stays on are specific to your story, sweetie. Also, my story would have reached a limited number of people and none of them would have gotten me anywhere professionally. And if you're gonna dump me the day before Christmas, DON'T GIVE ME A PRESENT BECAUSE WHY WOULD I TAKE SOMETHING FROM SOMEONE LIKE YOU? Just a heads up but the Reboot season 2 gives Juila super plot armor as it makes Heather's in season 1and the Ice Dancers in RR be non existent
Many of Julia’s accomplishments in Season 2 come across as this due to the fact that they all happened offscreen. From her inexplicably being able to forge a convincing film contract to trick Nichelle into quitting, to convincing the others that it was Bowie’s idea to have MK cheat for their team (despite everyone knowing Julia’s untrustworthy, as well as her rivalry with Bowie), to finding Damien's immunity idol (causing his elimination) without any explanation as to when or how she found .
At least Whenever Heather did something that relied on luck like kissing Trent we saw what she did , it wasnt like we only saw Gwen's reaction and are told what she did .
Same with The Ice Dancers kidnapping the Goths rabbit it wasnt a last minute revealed.
Also they had Julia get off too easy as her hatrid isnt as strong as Heather's with her stilll having an ally MK and the fact no one curses her out.
And while Heather had to be completley bald , Juila just loses a few inches of hair but she still had a head of hair.

A part of me wonders if Sierra is the show’s parasite or cancer. Either way, she should be treated and removed asap. While I’ve never liked Sierra to being with, this episode as well as the one having to do with Drummheller might have to be Sierra at her absolute worst with her entirety of All Stars being an honorable mention. As much as Sierra sucked in All Stars and as hated as that season was, can we all agree her losing the competition in All Stars felt satisfying after the literal Hell she put us all through in World Tour? A big hot take I have when it comes to Total Drama seasons would be me considering World Tour over rated as a season since, while the show has its moments, it’s not as great as folks make it out to be, and I’ll especially never be able to forgive it for making Sierra the absolute plague she is, was and always will be.

World Tour is interesting to look at popularity wise in the Total Drama fandom because it has some really high highs (Alejandro vs Heather conflict throughout the season, Duncan's rivalry/alliance with Alejandro), but also debatably some pretty low lows depending on who you ask (Team Victory, the Love Triangle, Sierra in general).

1 - White guy talking here, but I'm not sure Leshawna's an offensive stereotype of black women. Yes they lean into her being black, but it's not like that's her character...end of story, no she's strong, independent, a good friend, but able to be duplicitous. She takes shit from no one and was very much robbed in Season 1. While I've voiced complaints about her in parts of her series arc, to say the above traits are offensive doesn't feel accurate to me.
2 - Owen is not overweight, he's OBESE (he once claimed to be in the 290-300 pound range), so the fact the show displays him as being very athletic [Dodgebrawl, Paintball Deer Hunter (yes Paintball is a sport, an EXTREME one at that)] is uh...very far from unflattering in my opinion. Unless you think the fart jokes are insensitive to him, which I personally find less offensive and more played out.
3 - Lindsay...OK, not sure about offensive there either, but I do think the whole "blonde = dumb" stereotype not worth endorsing, and I actually HAVE complained about her dumb choices in the past, or rather the dumb choices the writers put her through, like accidentally voting herself off. I hate that, most fans do, so not sure why you thought I overlooked that.

@@ultranaticproductions3103 Leshawna's label is literally the Sister With Tude'. She's a stereotype of loud black woman, which is offensive, and they played up that stereotype many times throughout the show. Harold fetishising her is also offensive. They also made fun of her afro. Owen is a literal walking and talking eating and fart machine, and the show doesn't only do this to him it does this to almost every single overweight characters. Lindsay is dumb because she's the dumb blonde stereotype, again it's meant to parody real life people. Why is the show mocking real life food bad but not it mocking real life people with the stereotypes? It's a satire parody show.
