How much do the follow points help for this? How would you do if there weren't any? (Every note being a new combo sounds harder because of no help from numbers but it would remove follow points)

it all comes down to preference some do better with follow points because they see it as a direction guide while others see it as something that throws them off

It's entirely personal preference, some people use skins with follow points, some use skins with one circle colour, some use circles without numbers. Generally with ez it's more comfortable to play when there's less clutter
