Puss in Boots The Last Wish

Okay but you could have mentioned how Puss in Boots was on Hot Ones and it was epic
YOU ARE SO RIGHT! That slipped my mind but that was another great example!

I like when he screamed out the f bomb :)
Seeing DreamWorks and Illumination outdoing themselves with their marketing and coming out on top of Disney makes me smile.
It’s basically Nintendo breathing down illuminations neck the whole process
@@suplexgod9723 reminded me of the time Nintendo emailed Disney on how to properly animate Bowser holding a cup. So yea, they probably are quite strict on Illumination lol.
@@mythicaldragon4354 damn really? I respect that
Look
Disney for enjoyable elemnets/Wishes
Pixar for Life experience/Knowledge
Illuminations for bringing the family/friends/fanses happy and exciting
Dreamworks for to give your Childhood alive and creating many fairytales and story
@@StridersBored yes, it's when Disney made Wreck it Ralph. They also gave size references and stuff.
The least they could've done with lightyear is make it feel 90s so that you get the idea that Andy actually watched it at the time the first movie took, but rather the movie felt too "modern" and the movie sloppily tells the audience "Andy watched this" and apparently that's all the info we need to make this relevant to Toy Story.
Couldn’t agree more
It would’ve been better if they played into the modern remake thing they have been doing so horribly. Maybe have an after credit scene with Andy saying “I liked the original tv show better” wouldn’t have saved the movie but would’ve been better than what they did
Got a strong feeling "light year" started out as a non toy story film, but buzz got roped in cuz an original franchise is too "risky" to them...
i expected them to maybe do a 90s action movie parody but instead it’s just a massive missed opportunity
Honestly, the old Buzz Lightyear of Star Command cartoon is more convincing in terms of the whole "this made Andy want Buzz for his birthday" thing.
They fact that Mr.Shigueru Miyamoto was involved in the whole project for the Mario movie makes it so much better they are going all out for this movie and that Mar10 day final trailer was insane
Miyamoto has been keeping a watchful eye and that’s always a great thing. No one knows these characters best like him.
@@miczilla_ I love Reggie’s quote a bit back, where he talks about how the original movie failed because Nintendo wasn’t watching them 😆. As usual, Reggie was definitely correct!
@@miczilla_ he was watching over Chris Pratt as gun point for Mario’s recordings “You will sound like my son, now again with more energy WAHOO”
@@adnan1100 they didn't make teen titans go but aside from that they did some good stuff like one of them worked on MAD and the other worked on some batman cartoons and a bunch of other stuff that is pretty good
The super Mario movie being the way it is makes sense. It's not supposed to be a totally serious movie nor is it supposed to be a completely outrageous and silly thing, it's a celebration of the ENTIRE Mario franchise.
6:41 fun fact: the woman in the tv ad is voiced by Jeannie Elias who voiced princess peach in the super mario super show, so that tv is way more nostalgic that people realize.
Has this been confirmed though? I haven’t seen anything concrete yet.
@@Peartato59 yes
They also made the plumbing van in real life and it’s touring the US throughout this month! Usually Illumination has the most bland marketing ever for their movies, but they really kicked up their game for this movie and I really appreciate that. This movie is a love letter to the entire fan base.
Can’t wait to see it opening night!
It’s because they got that Nintendo money
It's surprising to hear Illuminations be considered good at something. I've always heard them to be mediocre to bad all the time.
I'm certain the Mario movie is gonna be great, probably because Nintendo has a watchful eye on them
Oh definitely. Typically I find the Illumination films hit or miss but recently with their marketing they have been on a roll! And I know the Super Mario Movie won’t disappoint!
illumination could have their defining movie right here.
Nintendo is probably set a bomb on the studio just waiting to light them if they messed up.
Illumination is a great company who makes bad movies, they purely want money and are absolutely amazing at making it, and even though Nintendo is more greedy they also have way higher standards, of course they’re carrying them.
Can you guys please stop calling illumination bad, that's my childhood like some others. /:(
Puss in Boots also appeared in an episode of Hot Ones. It's such an interesting marketing approach tbh.
I’m not surprised Disney is putting the bare minimum into advertisements. I always felt that the company’s mindset is that with every project, they’re going to generate a profit from it, no matter the effort put into the marketing campaign.
Disney has to step up their game soon, cause Dreamworks and Illumination are hitting them where it hurts, lol.
Nice video, amazing watch from start to finish. 👍
Mom i want that one lol
I feel like the Mario Movie campaign was more of Nintendos ideas and influence cause it doesnt seem like something Illumination would ever do for there other movies, but its still really amazing
Also Fun Fact: The lady in the Mario Bros commercial is voiced by the original Princess Peach voice actor from the old Mario show.
Aww man that's so cool, and yeah Nintendo is probably very particular on how they present it.
You know I keep hearing that that lady is voiced by the original Princess Peach voice actor from the cartoon, but besides sounding like her, has Nintendo, Illumination, or the actress herself actually confirmed its her?
@@IcyDiamond no
@@IcyDiamond I think a little bit of voice comparing is enough to confirm
I love how Illumination gave us a remix of the Super Mario Bros Super Show theme in one of their teaser. Its not just fan service, its a freaking moment in history where Nintendo actually remembered the shows they made. Plus the Mario rap is great (fight me).
Love how when the girl saying the script she gets like "Wtf" when she reads "Seems only thing you havent drained is my bank account".
@@SetikReal haha, ikr
You should have mentioned all the other promos puss in boots did, like doing ASMR videos, Appearing with Sean on Hot Ones, and Puss working behind the counter in the cinema helping gold and the three bears. Those were so creative and cool!!!
I am super excited for the Mario Bros. Movie. Illumination have done such a great job with the visuals and hyping up the film with all those wicked trailers. But the piece de resistance was truly the recent promo which saw all the characters from Illumination’s previous films go to the cinema to see the new Mario movie.
That was just superb promotion! Great video, mate! 😎👍🏻
Thanks and me too!
Man, I'm very excited for the Super Mario movie!
So am I
MARIO
It's a me, dude, mario
Me Too
Same
The mario movie tralier has more effort in it than every prior illuminations film, I love it.
I love how Illumination Entertainments Animation has improved since the first Minions movie. Their visuals look so God-tier.
As much as I rail on Illumination for making average at best movies, I gotta hand it to their advertising department. They KNOW how to promote their films.
(Plus this one is a partnership with Nintendo, who are super protective of their brand, so I'm expecting a pretty above average quality for an Illumination movie.)
Illumination really took "Never judge a book by it's cover" to a whole next level with the Mario Movie
The biggest issue with Disney is that they don't market original movies enough, and then think they shouldn't focus on them when they flop
One of my favorite promos I've seen for a movie is when they had Puss in Boots on Hot Ones. Not Antonio Banderas, but the actual animated Puss in Boots.
The woman at the end talking about the only thing the Mario Bros didn't drain their bank account was voiced by princess toadstool from the super show, world and 3
Its ironic that the mario movie felt like a fever meme at first when they showed the cast but now it have a lot of potential
As Illuminations movies got better, their marketing got better. Dude me and my friends went to see Minions 2 in nice clothes and suits but that’s not even all, before we saw the movie we ate the Minions IHOP menu and hour before seeing it! Honestly one of the highlights of last summer tbh. I cannot wait to see the Mario movie hopefully with friends again
Dang sounds like an awesome day
@@miczilla_ it really was lmao! Btw keep up the great content. You just earned yourself a sub
The only thing they’ve gotten better in is animation. Otherwise it’s still the same old illumination. Hoping the Mario movie would actually be their first masterpiece
I'm glad you got a good memory with your friends for years to come
If Andy actually saw Lightyear, he would've gotten the robot cat toy instead.
I also found out about Strange World in the strangest way possible. I was in the mall one day and there were ads of the movie on the side of the escalators going to the 4th floor. But nowhere else, just there. It's like they didn't want people to see those ads lmaoo
Something else really cool about the Mario Movie plumbing commercial is that the lady in the commercial is voiced by the same actress who played princess toadstool in the old cartoon
Who would've known that the audience loves and get more hyped when they see the creators love and care for their releases
Disneys has two methods of promotion.
One includes rage baiting and gaslighting the OG fans of whatever half baked remake or rehash they release, then label the fans as racist, then blame the fans when it does poorly.
The other includes deceptive trailers that look really cool with an orchestral/modern version of an 80s rock song, only to sweep the rug from under the fans and the story be about something completely different that nobody really wanted.
I am glad you said something positive about Elemental. It is literally the ONLY Disney movie I am hyped for. And I am not really interested in Turning Red, Lightyear and Strange World.
Imgine Illumination's redemption arc this April by the way...
Imagine. And yes, elemental looks neat. Gave me a little bit of Zootopia vibes actually.
I feel like everyone is so hard on the movie too early. All we got is a teaser and a plot synopsis and everyone is already hating it. I’m so tired of hearing the many excuses why people hate it. Can they just wait for the actual trailer to get an opinion?
@@gatewoodanimations9753 Exactly!
@@gatewoodanimations9753 and istg I’m so tired of people being like “OH ITS A FIREBOY AND WATERGIRL RIPOFF BLAH BLH BLHA” please shut up
@@rosythewildflower Yeah ikr. The creator of that game didn’t invent elements
I freaking love Turning Red
I like your avatar! :D. As a scriptwriter and an author, I love learning about how people make stories. I’m currently making a MG novel more akin to classic 2D Disney fairytales, with inspiration from Shrek, Mario Bros, and Chronicles of Narnia. Nice video! :D.
Oh dang that sounds really cool
Oh heck, yeah, that does sound really cool! ^^ Good luck and I hope you have fun making it!
Disney does not need to take notes lol it’s time for other studios to shine
Its so weird to hear that illumination of all things is doing better than disney.
I never heard about Strange World until I was in cinema to watch Avatar 2, which I'd also never heard of, and saw that Strange World was one of the options
The Mario movie promo has been insane. My favorite trailer is still the first one. That bowser reveal was incredible and the rest of the trailer gave us a glimpse of everything else to come.
Honestly, Disney has only been doing marketing inside the US, anything outside the US barelly even get marketing at all, no ads no billboards and nothing in the cinemas directly, if you dont go out of your way to find about the upcoming Disney movies you wont find out anything
Mario go brrrrrr
@Miczilla mabye you should upload why roblox is so cringe and go in depth on how games have ruined its reputation
You're proving yourself right with Disney, I had no idea there was a trailer for Elemental, lmao.
I think I know what happened to the strange world promos. It all went to me.
Like I got sick of these trailers popping up everywhere every advert was strange world to the point where I thought “this is annoying why would I watch the film now?” and I was shocked when people were saying it was barely advertised
When April comes, Mario is gonna stomp on Disney like a bunch of goombas
Mario is going to make BANK this year.
turning red was pretty good tho
with it's own artistic decisions but like really good
I swear, you should definitely be working for Disney and Pixar's marketing departments. They failed to convince me to watch "Lightyear" or "Strange World," despite some scenes not being compatible to some of our cultures or faiths.
That would be a dream
DreamWorks and Illumination: Disney laughed at us, but now it's OUR turn to laugh back.
I’m glad they did what they did for the minions movie 2 because I was about to have ptsd from what they did with the minions movie 1 advertisement campaign. I could not walk 5 feet without seeing something covered in that God awful shade of yellow irl…
Considering how much hype the Mario movie got from the trailers alone, if it performs as well as I think, then this might incentivise other studios, who already have lackluster marketing teams, to step it up.
Imagine a gentle Mario bros trend when the movie comes out💀
okay but DreamWorks made a Hot Ones episode with Dean Evans, it was also really cool and well-animated
Ah yes I saw, forgot to mention it but that was also super cool
Interesting take, I subscribed! I was surprised to see that you aren't more popular, I hope you continue to grow! But anyways, it really is a shame that some movies could have better promotions. The fact that fans and people that don't work for those franchises like you can think of ways to promote them so much better comes to show the potential that movies could have with better promotion and proper exposure.
Honestly it really make me Happy that DreamWorks, Nickelodeon, Illumination and Warner Bros have really been doing good but Disney yeah all 3 of there flims last year Lightyear, Turning Red & Stange World. Yeah that suck!! I barely seen any news about them, but Elemental look really amazing.
But with The Bad Guys, Puss in Boots the Last Wish, DC League of Super Pets, Minions Rise of Gru & Paws of Fury the Legend of Hank I seen a lot of tv spots and posters of then they end up being amazing, good and Alright.
why do i feel like the only person who loves lightyear, everyone is trashing on it while i keep rewatching it 😭😂
I still can’t get over what a bad name “Pando” is for an important McMuffin
Imo I'm so happy that Nintendo is working with illumination instead of disney because if that were the case Disney probably would find a way to make the flop hard
Even illumination is making a better film than Disney this year... that's impressive
tbf, they got nintendo to monitor them
You don't know if Mario movie will be better rated than Wish or Elemental.
Eh not really, I watched both turning red and Puss in boots and they were equally good. Or I don’t know maybe I do like one of the more I just both really like them and I’m sure this Mario movie I’ll feel the exact same way. I don’t think they necessarily produce anything better than Disney because turning red was a really really good movie that wasn’t even made by Disney just picked up by Disney. Puss in boots is also a really really good movie and I’m sure this new Mario one will be too.
@@ANationalguy The issue with turning red is that it felt long. The movie itself is fine, but the characters felt too strict of a personality, and many scenes felt dragged out. Puss in boots feels like every scene was needed, and incredibly entertaining, and doesn’t outright slap the moral of the story in your face.
@@Swagmaster1102 eh no not really. Turning red was a slice of life movie so of course the scenes are gonna be long then just show character interactions that’s kind of the point, While Puss in boots was an entire plot movie not a slice of life movie. I would say movie wise Puss in boots kind of does that the moral of the story in your face like off the bat you can see pushes really careless and clearly doesn’t care of his lives and you’re gonna know where the story goes, Turning red outright says sometimes you have to honor yourself but during the plot they don’t outright depicted the way Puss in boots did it’s more gradual.
Anyways Puss in boots are two very different types of movies so
Illumination movies are fine but DreamWorks is trying something different and it went well for me DreamWorks is leading the animation industry for me but still the Mario movie doesn’t look bad 😊
I think elementals still had by the best trailer, they revealed almost nothing yet capture the audience so well
The thing about the Super Mario trailer is that it could be a moment in the movie
Alot of people pointed out that this scene could directly happen after Bowser yells out "WHO'S GONNA STOP ME?!"
This is so underrated
Or they could’ve made the light year movie based around the original tv show, that would’ve been much cooler.
Honestly the Mario bros promo is amazing and how to do promo.
The super Mario movie marketing is amazing the number of stuff they put in it is amazing.
Disney had a very cool promotion for Lilo & Stitch where Stitch invaded other classical Disney movies and it was really cool, it's a pitty the state it's in and how they don't even bother to promote some movies nowadays, it's not just the new ones (which is awful) but the live action remakes they seem to be so invested in, some don't get any attention at all, so I don't understand what they're trying to do, honestly.
It's hilarious how the same Billboard outside LAX is the only reason I knew of Starnge World.
The customer in the Mario Bros promo is actually voiced by the VA of Princess Peach in the 80's cartoon
Despite of Turning Red's marketing ((or lack there of)) I still like the movie regardless of how many people hated it but I'm still on DreamWorks side in terms of movies as of right now
Of course, i had things i enjoyed about it too. And I will admit, some of the hate was definitely unnecessary
@@miczilla_ I mean the hate is mostly come by from either Pixar fans who "can't" relate to it or that the hate is surrounded by angry parents who don't want there kids wanting a movie that got a touchy subject and bashing the movie without actually seeing it
@@joelbarraclough6689 yeah thing is even though I couldn’t relate a lot, I dont think thats a full deal breaker. Its just not my thing but its not like unbearable
@@miczilla_ just because it's a Pixar movie it doesn't mean it had to be for everyone like how I'm not really into DreamWorks's Trolls because despite that I am a DreamWorks fan I'm not a fan of that movie mainly it's 1 of those films that got trendy voice actors with a predictable story
One thing i have caught from illumination for their mario movie was that they didnt use their basic character models youd see in despicable me or pets. It feels different from them in a good way
First time someone’s compared Illumination to Disney and Illumination won. Wow
Your really underrated omg!
Thank you

There was a lot of marketing for the Mario movie and I'm so excited to see it soon! My hype level is through the roof!
I can tell this channel is gonna blow up one day, keep it up bro!
I hope so too
Here before it does blow up. Hi people from the future.
Background music brought me back to SpongeBob PS2 days
This truly will be the decade of Illumination's redemption.
not related to the vid but i see you're very cultured in using the best track from the spongebob movie game in the first half of the vid👌👌
5:49 Oh my god, not the distrubances!
DreamWork🤝illumination
Let's not forget DreamWorks small shorts for Puss In Boots, the one of the duck, the dance he and Kitty do, when Goldie and the 3 bears go to the cinema, Hot Ones, etc
In Germany I believe they even made 2 pizza boxes for the Mario movie
Also they promoted the mario movie with a website, AN ACTUALLY WORKING PHONE NUMBER WHERE LUIGI TALKS TO YOU, and by making the shoes that mario wears and showcasing them in nintendo new york. They went all in on that one.
Just found this channel, hype. Will be watching again
Nobody's gunna talk abt the fact this person uses the Spongeball Stages OST from the Spongebob Movie: The Game, in the Disney bit? Good video lmao
DreamWorks absolutely destroy Disney in 2022! Man Disney must be so embarrassed at the box office. And I can’t wait to see the Mario movie!
Why are they making Toys story’s 5?
3 and 4 made over 1B dollars in box office
They are desperate after losing over 250.000 disney+ subs and having to fire like 7000 people
Not related to the movies but hearing Sonic background music surprised me and made me very happy :)
The light year film was kinda based off of the buzz light year show everyone forgot
Universal been popping off lately.
I'm a Librarian and I learned about Strange World because a book popped up discounted children's book list after the movie had been released. I thought it was another Disney Jr Cartoon so I didn't pay much attention to it.
your buzz lightyear trailer idea is literally common sense in my opinion. It's weird for disney to not go that route
I love super mario broes!
Basically to summarize what we've learned, if you want an audience engage with that audience.
Bro i remember when everyone made jokes like their going to watch minions in suits.
And they litteraly did.
I remember when Pixar would produce trailers that showed nothing about the film’s but would show you the characters.
Miss those days.
I am unexpectedly excited about the Mario movie.
This is epic channel I’m subscribing
The Grinch promotion by illumination was on a whole 'nother level
sick video man! earned you a new subscriber, keep up the work! 👍
Great point saw the trailer for Turning Red and had zero clue what was going on
We are living in a time where freaking Illumination is beating disney in the movie making department. Really suprised.
Reminds me how Disney sabotaged strange world by not giving it marketing
My theory is that they prioritized Avatar 2 and Black Panther Wakanda forever
I liked the original HTTYD promos. DreamWorks for the win
We're the Mario Brothers, and plumbing's our game
