That’s horrible, people don’t respect equestrians. I’ve ridden on busy roads and nobody thinks horses can spook, it’s absolutely crazy! It’s like everyone forgets horses have their own mind and can do a lot of damage without precaution. Anyways, glad you two are alright!

On a bridlepath as well, understandably on a driveway but going so fast when they were on the bridle path and they could see Joey was there! So sad. You handled the situation perfectly, a big well done to you all. ❤️🐴🥰

That has never happened to me but once my pony got attacked by two dogs on a bridle path and I fell off and lost my confidence and never wanted to get back on a horse 😭 but watching your videos gave me a reason to get back on 🙂 and now I am an even better rider than I was before and I have learnt a lot from your channel🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎

My boy and I were chased by some unleashed dogs, they didn´t listen to come back as the owner called... and luckily nothing happened.

Where I live we don’t have bridle paths, we just ride in the paddock of on the grass lol. Where I ride there are these two dogs, they never really scare the horses but one of the dogs has a toy and we take it away from him when riding because it scares the horses 🥲
tbh i could break a leg or anything while riding and i would still get back on the same horse because i love horse riding :>

Are there not any laws in England regarding horses and drivers maybe she should’ve reported the driver to the police , they could’ve endanger her and Joey but thankfully everything turn out ok .
@@claudecarter246 In this situation, Esme signaled the driver to slow down but she was ignored. When new drivers are doing their tests, they are required to have knowledge of horses on the road and what to do. Drivers are required to slow down to at least 10 mph or stop completely if necessary. I’m not sure that the police could do anything at this stage, however if the driver did to any damage to Esme or Joey then it would be a completely different story!
Thank goodness you were both ok ♥️ have you passed your footage onto the police? They take dangerous driving seriously now, and they do prosecute from dash cam/ video footage.

I was riding on the roads the other day and the amount of people who don’t even think about horses is discusting we had people going 30-40mph past us and going really fast around corners it’s so dangerous people need to think more

I hope that driver gets reported soon, as someone else might not be as lucky as you were, and that was scary enough for any equestrian to have to go through . Please report this to the BHS, any road incident must be reported to the BHS to help them understand the awful things us horse riders have to go through. This can be done online, they also have an app.

I was riding my horse once along the side of the road. a car came from the upside way and sped up driving right at me and my horse on purpose. luckily my horse jumped aside just in time saving us both. didn't have time to get the number plate because i had to calm my horse first because he went bucking like crazy.
that car was long gone by the time i calmed my horse.. the most important thing is we where fine and came off without injuries. i simply can't blame my horse for his behavior because he did it out of instinct. i simply gave him a good scratch as a thanks for keeping us safe.

Esme, you are so good and confident with your horses, the way you handled the car was the right thing to do. In my opinion, if i were riding joey i would have probably cried gotten off and then walked back to the horsebox. I love you Esme and will alway stay updated on your stories. xx

You handled that so well! I would have been so scared! Your dad did a good job too. That driver was so disrespectful! Once I was riding on a road with my friends that was the street the farm was on which had little to no traffic, and this one car just came zooming past us without a second thought! Thankfully none of there horses spooked, but it was very rude.

Great video! Can we just appreciate how Esme looks after 4 horses and uploads like nearly ever week! Also, I thought Joey spooked at the wind on the bridle path. Driving near horses should really be compulsory in a driving test

You can control yourself but you can't always control what a horse does - it has a mind of its own - and horses are flight animals so their natural instinct is to run. Love ur channel Esme! I handled saving my dogs from a fast car approaching pretty well despite me being on my own. I was panicking so much but the dogs were really good

It is sad but they were safe after I rushed them back in. It was my fault for not shutting the door properly but we are lucky to be alive. Then I was honoured the Wonder Woman title by my own mother

That was a very irresponsible driver but I’m glad you and joey are safe
Something very similar happened to us. As we don’t have a float and pony club is around the corner we walk our horses down along a dirt road, then a P plater speeded past us, keeping in mind we were wearing neon yellow clothing and our horses were close to running into barb wire fencing as they had a bit of a spook.
I got spooked off today, so I think you handled it really well and that vehicle went too fast
a few months ago me and my horse were hit by a car at around 35 mph, i ended up hospitalised, i was told i had two broken knees and a broken neck, and that i should have died in that situation, but by some sort of miracle me and my pony are now almost fully recovered!! really has put me off hacking, i’m glad you and joey are both okay!! xx

I've overtaken a horse and rider when I was on one of my driving lessons. It's not difficult, it's not scary, it's not dangerous, as long as you give space, KEEP YOUR SPEED DOWN and your engine revs as low as possible while you pass the horse. Hardly rocket science. Driving that fast on that kind of road shows you have no respect for horses, walkers, cyclists and any other road users. I hope the reg number was sent to the police.

I remember nearly the same case like a an was at atleast 40MPH I literally was next to a whole ass ditch(nearly full cliff) and my horse was like “oh sh- “ and literally skid the first 30cm down. I was so scared that was my 2nd hack aswell…
