Uncharacteristically for Aatrox, it feels almost sneaky the way you do it: you can plant Darkin weapons on normal units and then Assimilate them, calling an entire army of Darkin from nowhere. It's like all of the Darkin are hiding in plain sight, just waiting to be activated. World Ender is a ticking time bomb of a card if ever I've seen one. I suppose it's a good representation of how weak the Darkin are in their weapon forms, having to find suitable hosts to attach themselves to, which gives all the more contrast for how strong they become once fully unleashed. I find it funny how Aatrox's big win condition can be stopped by one Deny, or cards with similar effects: Aatrox screams 'I AM THE WORLD ENDER' and then Karma's like 'no'.
True but there’s two caveats to that. One is that every time aatrox strikes or is summoned he makes a new World Ender in hand, so eventually denies wont be enough. The second is that even if it is denied, Aatrox levels up anyway (thx play cast change) and darkin cost five less. Doesn’t mean he’s gonna be broken but I don’t think he’ll be trash on release at least

as someone that plays this game since beta, and loves and wanted a league card game since a decade, and still plays, i do not. recommend this game at all, unless if you have fun losing for RNG, this game used to be about "skill" and keep the RNG away, but nowadays, it's just so full of RNG, that i call it hearthstone 2.0, i don't even feel good about winning games anymore

This is so incredibly well designed (balance-wise, remains to be seen :D). These three points in particular: - the Darkin concept is well-fleshed out by Assimilate, matching perfectly with the lore (and is a really cool way of reconceptualising the existing cards themselves, and how they can be used) - his champion spell having 3 levels to it is the same as his Q spell in League - he is clearly designed to END the game, which is very fitting as the world ender Serious props to the designers on this!

Ngl, the fanmade cinematic for his 2nd level up used in the fan made trailer was scarier. For the people who haven't seen it yet, it shows aatrox jumping in the air, blood shot red wings open, and then slamming right down at you. It was glorious. Would love to see a Pantheon vs Aatrox cinematic someday.
Interesting things of note: -Anaakca can pull another Anaakca who does not miss the timing window to pull something else -when the units with darkin weapons become the darkin unit forms they are still equipped with the darkin weapon forms -units holding the darkin scythe always become Rhaast -despite saying "you've played world ender", we see in the video world ender has to resolve to level Aatrox and he didn't level when it was merely played and put onto the stack -assimilate allows you to have two (or more) Aatrox, Varus, or Rhaast on the field
Attack timings have always worked like that - each unit's own Attack and Support abilities activate and resolve in full before any on the unit to the right, and units added to combat via effect always go in the rightmost available slot. Also note that getting multiple of the same Champion on the board is still tricky - you need to use another card to transfer their equipment to a different unit, either as a direct effect (one of the Weaponmaster spells does this) or by equipping them with a different piece of equipment and then playing their weapon from hand. Note that having two level 2 Varus at the same time causes the Darkin Bow to gain +3/+0 per spell but keeps the overall cap on its Attack at 10. I know this because I got a Champion-copying effect with him in the Path of Champions, and have thus had it before.
The depiction of Aatrox in LoR kinda makes Pantheon's feat a lot more impressive. An ordinary man not housing the actual Pantheon god cuts off a blood god the size of a small mountain. Either that or it happened when Aatrox was still small enough having not assimilated enough beings yet. Also I'm not sure if Xolaani, Kale and Ryze are teaming up against Aatrox, or he just so happened to have found the two fighting, but that art is badass af.

In Aatrox's version, she does not absorb Kayle's mom and instead goes after Aatrox after subduing the other lesser darkins. But in Eldritch Xolaani's pov, she does absorbs Kayle's mom and is currently about to absorb Kayle. From what it seems like, the only reason why Xolaani either gets defeated by Aatrox or wins is due to her priority and confidence. She looses to Aatrox for being overconfident and is blinded by her wanting to accomplish her goals as fast as possible, while Eldritch Xolaani goes for the harder route of 1v1ning Targon to get even more power. Also I just read the card descriptions, it is only coincidence that Kayle finds Xolaani and Aatrox fighting, while Ryze literally turns into mf Shinji from End of Evangelion and decides to use the world ruins to stop Xolaani.

I like the second splash art because Aatrox appears so large, Xolaani looked slashed by Aatrox and impacted away, Kayle prepares to use R and fly over Aatrox to attack, and Ryze also there on the right down side preparing a spell or something for Aatrox. It just shows how strong Aatrox is in the lore xD
I personally like more the fan made idea where he's part of the Ascended and his interraction with the Sun Disk and how they were put together in that video. I also like more the reused animations of Aatrox for his level up animations.

No exposition (released during the pandemic), next to no advertising despite being tied with AAA game and esporádica yet effective balancing
