- A nice revival lovers tune that was popular in the late 70s. Funny when you check it... it's about a woman giving another woman's man breakfast in bed.... and she ain't talking bout no egg on toast... lol....
The days of old, be they good or bad, when LOVE 💕 was real. 😔🧐😒😡
Pure memories of playing this tune in the front room with my sisters and Mum coming is saying turn it down lol....
Fantastic song of my youth. Always evergreen
I have been looking for a version of this song by sheila hylton , had a copy of it when i was 15 lost it in my late 20's and have never been able to find it since so thank you it will always hold a lot of memories for me🥰
@RootsDaughter41926 Ok. I've googled it and then red that even the version of Lorna Benett was a cover. To me it is the best version. But i also like that one of Sheila Hylton. Reggae of the 70's is the best! Greetings!
A fab rendition..I used 2 have Lorna Bennets version from the 70's.Bought this on vinyl.Reggae at it's best. 😊❤💛💚🎼
Fabulous song 🎵 thank you for many years of memories ❤️👍🏼
I mixed the refrain with an electronic bassline and kick , it just rocks 😜
One word. One word only. "Beautiful!.
I still have this 12" record. I had a hard time getting it when it first came out.
Go for it,... not played mine for years....no record player these days...it'll be good to hear it again....gizza shout when yo've done it...Doc
I would love to get one of those classic synth drums. So popularized by many of the reggae artists' music in the late 70s and early 80s. This brings back so many memories of time gone by when I was licke yout who would save up his dinner money to buy records. Thanks so much for sharing - by the way, keep skanking down memory lane.
I LOVE THIS SONG. Have done since the day I heard it in 1985, Sweet
By far,the best version of this song,IMHO,takes me bake...put thec12"on and get busy with my 7..oh yeah :)
Hard riddim, dis is lovers at its best
I had a woman like that once, she gave me something that night that even my wife and girlfriend had never given me, even the penicillin wouldn't shift it!
Wicked tune
@famyoung .... thanks for the enlightenment... never knew Ms Springfield wrote the song. But now I think about... yeah sounds like a Dusty song... :-)
A really good record 12" as well, i got this 12" too...my wifes favourite reggae tune..i prefer the Lorna bennett version....any one heard Bongo Hermans Version
Always loved this tune - my copy got warped somehow.
Lorna Bennett's version is by far the best reggae treatment of this song.
There's room in my world for both 😊

Written by Donnie Fritts and Eddie Hinton for and originally recorded by Dusty Springfield and included in her "Dusty In Memphis" album. Subsequently, it was recorded by many other artists, but was not a huge single hit (in the UK) until released by UB40 (featuring Chrissie Hynde) in the '80's. Their arrangement is very similar to this.
+Paul Ballenger thx for info il add this to when i share blessed day Paul B .
Paul Ballenger, This version is 1979, long time before UB40. They only released copies of earlier tunes, none of their songs were original.
UB40 formed in 1978 and have created plenty of their own work so you're completely wrong. They've also done a number of cover albums titled Labour Of Love. Maybe you're referring to these.
I know when they formed. UB40 were really a band that released covers of earlier tunes. I can't remember anything of theirs that hadn't been done previously. I didn't particularly like Ali Campbell's Brummie accent, it didn't lend anything to the songs he was trying to cover. I suppose I am not a big fan of their work. But there were some I remember, 'Wear You to the Ball' was a good version, probably due to not having Ali singing.
love this version hated the ub40 and chrissy hined version
I like this, it;s very familiar to my deja vu sense of mindly ness.
@SingleDutch ... hi... yes Ms Washington was the first to sing this... this is the original reggae version... although many reggae artists covered this classic over the years....
WAT BASS MAN HEAVY
@octaviano1296 ... hi, when I put original it refers to the the vinyl.. meaning it's an original record not simply from a CD or a repressing or reissue. Someone has already referred to Ms Bennett being the first to reggaefi this tune... :-)
I remember this as the 12" version.
TUNE!!!!!! ❤❤
My cousin Sheila Hylton the original singer
@RootsDaughter41926,,,, I beg to differ...The Original was recorded by Dusty Springfield and I believe she owns the Publishing...Baby Washington covered in the 70's,,, but the Original Reggae version was done by Lorna Bennett. also in the 70's...Thank You...
