    This is not only a prime example of sheer greed but just as bad is the damage it will do to other genuine charities who will have lost the trust of some of their donors .
    His daughter and her husband are an utter disgrace and for me they have been treated leniently while deserving every bit of criticism they receive.

    She wanted £150k as a charity director because that's the going rate for one in the UK. It's why I only give money to small local charities. I don't want my donation going to the salary of some " captain of industry" brought in to run a charity.

      Here in Sweden I remember the head of the Red Cross was picking up a huge salary. Why do they need to pay, isn’t there any retired top manager that wants to show some goodwill late in life after building a fortune. Isn’t there a single one that can do that for two years and then pass it on to the next one?
      Wouldn’t that be nice in the UK too.

    I'm fed up with CEOs of charities making incredibly high pay. I won't donate just to pay CEO salary.

      I agree that they shouldn't receive an 'incredibly high' salary, but the people running charities still need remuneration for their time, don't they?

      Not even the BIg Issue. In my area it's foreign dressed eastern European women, and I know the culture they come from. Who are dropped off outside local shops. I'm not supporting them in this activity...not one penny.

    If the books were marketed as in support of the Sir Tom Moore Foundation, but no money went to it, surely that is at least obtaining money by deception? It can’t be right that his daughter is allowed to walk away with £1.5 million.

    • @acchaladka
      @acchaladka 5 часов назад +2

      By removing charitable status the crown can tax the funds as income. By prosecuting for fraud or lesser crimes, the public can seize the funds, yes. Successful prosecution could lead to jail for fraud i suppose but unlikely. That's why the allegations from the report that they have damaged trust in charities is so important.

  • @AMBK
    @AMBK 3 часа назад +2

    I would have no issue with his family benefitting from the proceeds of his book after his death if it wasn't for the fact that it was marketed as a book that would be raising money for his charity and they've kept all of the proceeds for themselves. Not to even offer a contribution to charity in the face of all this scrutiny shows how brazen they are.

    His books had nothing to do wirh his efforts to raise money by walking all those miles. He became a celebrity but was a war hero and had a choice of where the money was going for the books separate from his walking. Don't be so greedy. He was a perfect gentleman don't involve his name and family in a scandal now when he is no longer around to defend him self.

    I-think sir captain Tom would like his family to take a little money.maybe start looking at how much the other charity bosses are taking in salary up-to £200000 for the major hight street ones and the facts that uptp 97 % doesn’t go to charity

    I wonder how many people dismiss us old cynics who saw what this was from the beginning. Not gloating in my cynicism as I have experience from experience on human nature. One of the other things might upset everyone is old Tom was probably involved in this. Afterall the apple doesnt fall too far from the tree. But I might just be being cynical again.

    I believe the NHS received £39 million for Capt Tom‘s effort? That’s a tidy Sum and well done, wherever that went is anybody’s guess. The family wrote a book on the efforts of them and Capt Tom, a family history, a family life. Therefore the family has every right to claim the money from the Books. Like Captain Tom, I would want to see my family honoured and protected by mine and their efforts. The book like any book went for sale and people bought the book obviously they wanted to read their story.
    Their are countless allegations of ministers lining their pockets during the Covid fiasco and that was taxpayers money. 😂
