I am Pakistani, and I have travelled to India many years ago. Even at that time it was ahead of Pakistan. India has issues but it’s much ahead of Pakistan in economic growth, health, education, transport etc. I am happy for India and more power to them and I hope Pakistan would get there too.
Also, wanted to add Deepak’s interview with Amna was awesome and he was right in feeling sad at the state of affairs in Pakistan.

India is listed among the top three countries dangerous for women and the labor class, followed by a few Arab and African countries. Pakistan is not even among the top ten . India is also rated lower than Pakistan in Hunger index and widespread abject poverty.

But India from Growth perspective have actually gone way ahead. And, this is in no way says Pakistan is bad. @hassan: Please visit India first to understand how much India has progressed compared to Pakistan's condition (again not disrespecting Pakistan in anyway, its just economic conditions of two countries), maybe then you'll be able to understand Deepak's interview better. Exactly. Every country has its own problems and flaws. Deepak had shared his own experiences of his visit to India and one doesn’t need to be always factual to share your honest experiences. Yes there is woman safety issue..there is footpath issue because I live in Kolkata and in some areas of the city footpaths are encroached…waterlogged road in monsoons in major Indian metropolitan cities is a big issue…But the point he stated that people just tap and pay is a fact. The way India has revolutionised digital infrastructure is so commendable. People barely use cash now in India. From the street vendor to the supremely rich, everyone just scans QR code and makes payments. German embassy had even tweeted on X lauding India’s seamless UPI transactions. The railways are so well knit..highways and new airports are coming up..metro projects are in progress..percentage of women in Indian armed forces is more and above all India has highest percentage of women pilots in the world. What he meant to say that two countries got independence at the same time but India has performed much better and its the truth.

    • @RubabS

India progressed because of political stability, among other things. While PK never had a stable government since the 60's so the country suffered and continues to suffer. So every time someone makes a comparison, I find it unfair! That said, I think Pakistanis generally are very critical of their country and I like that we don't get triggered easily while I have noticed Indians don't take constructive criticism of their country very well. This comment section is indicative of same. That said, In the case of Deepak Parwani, I think every time someone shares something that is negative about the country, however true or exaggerated, I think it's important to add positives as well (what you like about the country) - I think the Bottomline is let's stop comparing the two countries!

But, you also have to take into account the majority minority issue and the exchange of people that happened during the partition or even people like Deepak's family who choose to stay back in their ancestral land. For them, it's a very sensitive topic as they choose their country (over the religious devide, which in all honesty it was) and due to this Political situation, they got short changed. It hits the person more harder then. If you see his other interviews, he very clearly mentions, that its the frustration of not progressing the way it his country should have makes its it a bitter experience when cross border tourism happens and he sees and and a natural comparison comes then, its very natural as a human to think his way.

I dont know how many women drive a two-wheeler there, but in india almost every house (that can financially afford) will have an activa for their women and daughters to go study or shop. All the "papa ki pari" memes are indian women on two wheelers - on a lighter note, lol.
We can not contest this point at all. Rajasthan (because of ghungat) still had some very internal regions that wouldn't allow their ladies, but recent observation is that all their daughters also drive two wheelers even though their moms and grannies are still in Ghungat.
I agree with Aamna, India has other issues like sick commercial mainstream media and rising extremism(last 10 years), which gladly is being called out now and going down, but whatever.
Deepak, however, did not make any unbelievable or absurd comparisons. It was all fair but was taken with a pinch of salt because of the great Indo-pak rivalry.
I dont know in what context indian media covered this comment by Deepak, but I am sorry already, lol.. because they can't keep fooling around with indians by proving that we have it better than pakistan. That's no point and no benchmark. Our media sucks but we surely have more freedom and better infrastructure (in comparison)

Secondly I am so glad that you all love your country so much and are really positive towards it. The thing is problems are everywhere whether it is India or Pakistan or any other country of the world. Didn't we see Dubai was not able to handle rainfalls? Didn't we hear stories of robbery, rape cases in such developed countries like US? My point is Infrastructure much have been better in India, facilities may have been provided better to India than Pakistan. But I must say there are many cities in Pakistan like swat and other Northern areas which produce electricity from water. They are now progressing alot in terms of tourist points. Islamabad, oh how beautiful it is, all roads are cleaned and maintained. Unfortunately big cities of Pakistan specially Karachi is having problems as there is no one govt. here. But there is a thing that in terms of charity Karachi has no competitor. Security has improved alot in this city in the past few years. Why do people say Karachi doesn't sleep? Why do chai points are full every night? Whatever Deepak has said it's his POV and whatever Aamna and Hassan are saying it's there POV. Let's just respect each other's thoughts and stop making competition of who is better among both countries.

Yes India is more developed and progressive, but if an Indian Muslim celebrity had spoken like this when comparing India and Pakistan, he would be told to go to Pakistan and even politicians would jump into abuse that celebrity, whereas Pakistanis take such comparison in their stride without taking that much offence.
For example, an Indian actor worked in actor in law with Fahad Mustafa and said some nice things about Pak. His life was turned into hell. Naseer uddin Shah said something along the same line. He was disrespected in India for his views. Amir Khan said that India is becoming intolerant and Kiran and I want to move abroad and Amir Khan was dragged through the mud at that time. Journalists like Barkha Dutt are called all kinds of names when she comes to Pakistan or indulges in any kind of Ind-pak. Amna you need to value this difference atleast.
P.S. I have utmost respect for Deepak Perwani. We need enlightened, creative and talented people like him in Pakistan and it is our khushkismati that he lives in Pakistan and has served our country so amazingly.

I'm very proud to be Pakistani and I think Pakistanis are some of the most open-hearted and generous people one can come across.
Two things, however, are undeniable. India is economically much more prosperous than us, and Pakistan has significantly higher gender disparities than India, largely driven by far more restrictive gender norms for women (as can be seen in our dramas).
India though has it's own set of problems, some of which don't exist in Pakistan to the same degree (e.g. caste-based discrimination).

I am an adoptive mother from UK. I adopted my children 14 years ago when they were 2.5 years and 15 months. It was very challenging time and children had lots of difficulties. But me and my husband loved them from the moment we met them and that love has grown over years. We are very sensitive to all their feelings and will give up on our family if they ever made our children feel unloved. I am always disappointed in the way Pakistani dramas and culture belittles adoptive parent child relationship. In UK, adoptive children have same legal rights as biological children. I am glad for that. I suffered a lot of loss before we adopted. I would go through that pain again for my children that Allah chose for me.

Wrong!. Indian rich and middle class have more money and better lifestyle. Indian poor class ( 42 crore) live worse lives than poor of Pakistan( 3 crore). Daily 30 indians commit hunger suicides. Please read reports by CNN, UN, Hunger Index, World Banks. To say India is this and India is that is oxymoronic. India is many nations and many things. India goes way beyond Jaipur, and Mumbai. India is listed among the top three countries dangerous for women and the labor class, followed by a few Arab and African countries. Pakistan is not even among the top ten

I love amna but hasan is more traditional and reasonably conservative and thats what i love about him ...amna has strands of liberalism in her personality although i really like amna too ....maybe here is just a slight preferance...have been watching videos since 2022 of something haute

Hey Hassan, since you love thrillers and mystery so much you could watch 'Pataal lok' its so interesting about a police officer of suburbs in Delhi. Its second season recently came out, I am sure you would love it.

I agree with Aamna that "extemism is extremism" where unemployed people are brainwashed and used to propagate personal agendas in the name of so called any religion.
Secondly, one cannot pass a generalized statement about India by just visiting Rajasthan, Mumbai,Pune or Lutyen Zone of Delhi. There are cities and states which are infrastructuraly very sound and more organized but others are equally chaotic . Kerala and Rajasthan are beautiful states . But based on that generallized statements about such a vast country cannot be made which i guess holds true for Pakistan as well.
