Wow, this is the easiest approach to skintones I have seen so long. Perfect, I might even remember the recipe by heart: grab any primaries you have, mix orange and add a tiny bit of blue, dilute. Thank you so much!
You're welcome, thank you for posting. I like posting actual information that can help improve paintings, but I think most people just want to see a painting done, so I try to do both.
You're so welcome! I used browns for skin tones when I first started painting but quickly found other mixes were much better, even though the colors seemed odd to use for skin.
I’m relatively knew to watercolor and am interested in portraiture. But as you say, skin tones are really daunting because we’re all so different. And even in one subject there can be so many different shades depending on sunshine shadows etc. Anyway, just wanted to thank you for a wonderfully helpful video. 🥰
Yes, that's why it works so well - you use the same colors to mix the darker shades or shadows, too. Then you'll have a professional looking painting because of the color unity.
@@DebWatson Thank you so much and you are so inspiring to me as well as to others and your paintings are breathtaking (you are truly gifted)!!! I hope to one day be as half as talented as you and thanks for the tutorials (you are truly amazing)!!! 🤗❤🎨🖌
A really good exercise and helpful video, Deb! Great job and thanks for sharing your expertise and tricks!
