I just lucked into your channel by RUclips rotation. How lovingly kind you are to provide a *free* school. *Thank you!* Looking forward to learning how to waterpaint from you
You are so welcome! I love teaching. I may someday get commercials on the site to help pay for it, but I'm too busy this summer.
This is one of the best tutorials I've ever seen. Thank you so much!
Wow - a big thank you - that's a real compliment!
I agree❤
@@serenadesweetreveries5737Thank you so much!
Your speaking voice is perfect and the background music is also. Perfect volume and background to the right degree. You’re a wonderful teacher. Great painting ❤❤❤
Thank you so much - reassuring to hear!
What a lovely gentle tutorial, it's so pretty. I just love how adding a shadow on the door made the whole thing go pop !! 😊
Thanks so much 😊 Your door could be purple!
Love your watercolours Deb , you are a great teacher ! I especially love this one !🌷🌷❤❤
I'm so glad! This one seemed to hit a chord in painting people.
I love your painting style and method of teaching.
Thank you so much 😀
Thank you so much for providing the sketch for those of us intimidated by drawing. This is very beautiful! I will be trying this very soon!
My pleasure 😊 Lisa! I hope your painting turns out lovely.
I just found this channel. Thank you very much. It's a beautiful little painting indeed. I'm a 67 year old beginner. This has really inspired me thanks for sharing.
Welcome! I'm a 67 year old, too! My oldest beginner student was 94 and she did fantastic. Someone asked her why she wasn't intimidated to try painting things and she replied it was now or never.
Many thanks Deb, I'm off to give this a go, inspiration had deserted me.
You're welcome, Jake. Try collecting a folder of paintings you love and look them over right before going to sleep. You subconscious will help get you back on the painting track.
Beautiful! You make it look so easy. Thank you
For sharing with us
Thanks so much 😊 My students did have to work, keeping the layers straight and getting the very darks in at the end, but they were happy with their doors. I hope you are, too.
This is so helpful! Thank you. It's so pretty, I love it.
Glad it was helpful! I'll be teaching it in class this morning and eager to see what the students do with it.
Beautiful! I love how you create depth with values. Thank you for sharing your talent.
You are so welcome! The final darks make such a difference, so go for it!
This is so pretty, can't wait to paint. Thank you, I enjoyed watching you paint. 😊
Have fun! I know I make it look easy but just keep going only you have a painting that you love.
This is great! I'm just starting with watercolors and love that I've found your channel! Can't wait to give this a go. Thank you
Great to have you! Hope your paintings turn out well.
Great tutorial and pretty painting, Deb 🎨🖌️🙂
I really don't understand the negative comments about the music and volume. 🎶 Your voice and the music worked perfectly together. I liked the tune and it wasn't too loud or over-powering your voice. Believe me, there have been some RUclipsrs that I just cannot watch because you can't hear them talk because the background music is blaring! 🔊🙉
Thanks so much 😊
I love your style! Such beautiful results. I'm going to paint this today!
Have fun! I hope you're turns out great!
Thank you for Sharing this lovely painting😊 greetings from Germany and i'll give it a try
Wow - great to hear from another country! Thanks for posting.

Thank you, Cathy! Next up is a cute and fun puppy - hope he's as entertaining.
Thank you! Just found you! I like your style of commentary!!
Thank you so much! Glad to have you.
Su explicación es tan clara que no necesité activar el traductor para entender. Gracias por la clase 😊
Thank you!
Very very good explaint 😍💖
Thanks, it is hard to explain things without overdoing it.
Very nice and beginners friendly lesson. Thanks you very much 👍
You are very welcome and thanks for posting.
Excellent tutorial. I look forward to seeing more in the future x
Thank you. This week we're doing a cute puppy.
❤ very nice
Thank you! Cheers!
Well I really enjoyed the way you talked us through this. I particularly liked the shadow instruction. Thanks so much for taking the time to do this. I’m painting later with a friend so I’m going to try this. I agree that you don’t need ant background music. Just you will be fine. xx
Painting with a friend makes it more fun! And I'll keep toning down the music - thank you for the feedback.
I love that you explain the process! Thank you so much 😊 I can’t wait to give this a try
Hope you like it! My class struggled a bit with the values but their doors all turned out nice.
Thank you so much Deb, really enjoyed your teaching style. I am just learning to be creative in drawing. So l am looking forward to do this one. Thanks again for an enjoyable tutorial. 👍🙂
You are so welcome - thank YOU for the nice post!
Beautiful! I'll try it for sure❤ Thank you
Doors are almost as popular as flowers. Together they're unbeatable!
Very good instructions in the video. Thank you very much! 🌷
Thank YOU for the nice compliment!
Great tutorial ❤
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful…Thank you
This was a fun painting for the class. No one could believe how much difference the last bit of very dark color added to the composition. I hope you give it a go.
I really love your way of teaching ! Thank you so much 😊
You're very welcome, Rhonda! Layering is soo effective but it takes a little practice.
This was magic. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! It's hard to believe what a difference a few dark values makes until you see it yourself.
This is a very helpful tutorial. Thank you so much!
You are welcome, Anne. My students had more of a challenge that I expected but if you stick to the steps, it works out in the end.
Very nice how you explain the layering and shadows
Glad it was helpful, Denise! Usually layering will give you the best results.
Thank you for this. You teach so well!
Glad it was helpful! Watercolor can seem tricky but it's so rewarding, as is teaching.
Wonderful and so inspiring!!
Will try out tomorrow.
Have fun! Students made the flower pot different colors - light purple was my favorite.
A lovely lesson! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it! I'll be posting more fun lessons this summer. Don't hesitate to request your favorite subjects in the comments.
Thank you so much! Such an amazing tutorial !!
You're very welcome! Thank YOU for posting - I appreciate your taking the time.
Love this and how you teach. Can't wait to try this
Thank you, Amy! Hope yours turns out great.
Beautiful - thank you! I can't wait to paint this!
Have fun Marleen! Every painting is unique, so don't be afraid to add your own touches or colors.
Brilliant. Will give this a go
Thank you so much, Lesley!
Thank you for a great tutorial….❤
You are very welcome - thank you for commenting!
Thank you very much!!! I learn a lot!!! Great video
Glad to hear that, Maria - that's my main objective!
Love this Great Lesson
Glad to hear it! Next week is easy flowers and lace for beginners - hope it's just as good for you
Thank you. Amazing. Ill have to try it ❤
Hope yours turns out well - I really had to push students to add the little bits of dark at the end, but it makes a big difference.
That was great you made it look so easy
Thank you for that video. It’s inspirational.
That's my biggest fault, but even a total beginner can paint this one and like it. Hope yours turns out great.
Amazing ❤❤❤, tank you 😊😊😊
You're welcome! Watch for more fun posts this summer.
Fun watching it come to life❤
You are right! The darker the shadows are in their deepest bits, the brighter and happier the painting looks.
Thank you so wonderful illustrations ❤
You're welcome 😊Doorways are a favorite subject and a great one for teaching shadows/values.
Thanks Deb.. love your content and style
Thanks so much! I keep trying to simplify so everyone can paint fun watercolors.
Well done! Loved this!!❤
Thank you, Helen!
This is wow!
Thanks! Everyone is amazed at the difference the last, darkest bits make.
Thank you!!! Very nice👍👍👍
Thank you too - for watching!
Super nice teaching❤❤
Thanks
Thanks very much!
Very pretty! ❤
Thank you, Connie! The real darks make it come to life.
Great tutorial! Shadowing is hard for me. I have a better understanding of how to achieve that. Thank you for sharing.
You're right, shadowing is hard! I spend a lot of time looking at where the darkest bits are in shadows and it makes a big difference if they're put in.
Beautiful!
Thank you, Sharie! This week's video is also flowers - hope you like it.
So cute💕I can’t wait to try it😘
Have fun, Kerry! Hope yours turns out well.
Great, thank you 🙏
You are welcome! Hope your painting is beautiful!
Excelent....You are the best! ❤
Thank you! 😃 What a kind compliment.
Deb, Thank you🥰
Love the emoji's! Hope you give this one a try, Joyce - it's fun.
great tutorial Deb! is there a real photo? would be nice to see the actual, more power to you♥️
It's loosely based on this photo (pixabay.com/photos/secret-garden-flowers-door-doorway-7457294/). I simplified a LOT to make it easier and show the power of layering. Hope yours turns out great!
Wow. Watching you create this scene I see years of practice and the payoff! Inspiring. 💫 what kind of paper are you using?
Thank you! I use Arches 140 lb. cold press but any good cold press paper should be fine. Hot press is usable but not as easy to layer on.
Thank you. Yes I have 140 lb cold press but another brand. Love your work.
Liked and subscribed!😊
Thank you so much, Marcia! That's the best compliment.
I liked the music💕
Thank you, Shawn! I try for something that most people would be okay with, but no one has ever commented, so I really appreciate it.
Gorgeous
Thank you so much, Linda. I appreciate your kind words.
Lovely
Thank you, Diana!
I m a Brasília beginner. I loved your explanation. Please show 13:09 more videos for beginners, please. Thank you.
Thank you! Will do! Flowers and Lace for beginners next week.
The music didn't bother me, love the painting too!!!
Thank you, Peggy! I am toning down the music volume but will keep it the same tunes.
New subscriber 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Welcome aboard! Glad to have you!
❤❤❤
Thank you for posting!
What kind of paper do you use?
I use Arches 140 lb. cold pressed - I buy the 22 x 30 sheets and cut them down to about 8 x 10.
Hi loved this but was very distracted by the music, thank you for us your skills!
Thanks for your feedback, Jane! I'm muting the music on all videos down to a low background so they won't be so annoying.
softer music 🎶?
Thank you for the feedback and I agree. I'm really cutting back on the music in future videos.
I love it thinks
Hope yours turns out well!
Have to agree about the music. Annoying. But I like process
Thank you, Susan. I picked different music for this weeks puppy video - hope it's better.
@@DebWatson not to
Not that it was bad-just too busy when I’m trying to learn
@@susancarmody2272 I get it - music can be distracting. I tried some different music with this week's puppy video. When I first started making my videos, the music was awful. I am slowly tweaking it to be the best it can and appreciate your feedback!
I often see people using brushes like this for wetting their paper, what is it?? I have been using a wash brush and it doesn’t seem to do the trick
Stephanie, this is a 3/4 inch Silver Black Velvet oval wash brush. I like it because it is a soft wash brush that holds a lot of water plus it has a good point. I think they're worth the money as they don't wear out.
It's beautiful but very hectic to watch. Maybe you can show the videos at normal speed. The world is already hectic enough.
I will! I'll be posting older videos this summer but I will start posting at real life speed on my new videos.
It would be nice if you could list the colors as you use them so that as we reply the video it would be helpful. And cut the music
Thanks, Denise - I'll try to include the colors I'm using but the online lesson has a wide range of suggested colors so everybody can join in. And I am making the music much softer and less intrusive. Thanks for the feedback.
Love the painting but hate the annoying background music.
Sorry for the music, Diana, I'll try something different next time.
always a complainer
@@DebWatsonso kind and humble. Not a thing wrong with the music. ❤❤❤
Turn off the sound then
Basically just very very much too loud.
Great tutorial, awful music.
Sorry to hear that I've switched to different music for the next video - much lighter. Thanks for the feedback!
