The Prankster Comets really bring some spice and challenge to the Super Mario Galaxy games, but not all of them are created equal. Some prankster comets are nothing more than a minor annoyance, while others are brutal and extremely challenging. That's why today, I'm teaming up with my fellow Nintendo RUclipsr Infinite Bits to list down the Top 10 Hardest Prankster Comets from both Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2!

All of the footage from Super Mario Galaxy was recorded on the Super Mario 3D All Stars version on the Nintendo Switch, accompanied by the amazing Super Mario Galaxy Music whereas the footage from Mario Galaxy 2 was captured directly from the Wii U. We will be discussing the many frustrating comets with today's list, such as Luigi's Purple Coins, Throwback Throwdown Speedrun, The Perfect Run, Lava Spire Daredevil Run, and many others! This list will also feature some Super Mario Galaxy Bosses, such as Bouldergeist, Fiery Dino Piranha, and others as well! Bowser won't show up on this list. The Super Mario Galaxy Theme will make an appearance.

At 5:04 yeah... I remembered this moment... But that changed after I discovered something about the level. The game's not gonna leave you hanging; if you wait a while after the moving platform leaves, they'll always spawn another one for you. So I always try to stay on the still platforms as a rest point to plan my next move. After doing that, I got the star after a few tries.
One trick I learned with bouldergeist is that once he enters the second phase and he starts using the hands, if you run in circles around him directly next to him, you can easily hit him with the boos without having to worry about the hands. He’ll usually do the attack where he lifts the hands in the air and slam them down which gives you plenty of space to hit him, and the boos are already right next to you so you can grab them easily. Bouldergeist has never been an issue for me simply because I use that method to defeat him every time lol.
I can't lie... the pull stars are the best use of the motion controls mechanic I've seen in any game ever.
I honestly think a Super Mario Galaxy boss ranking would be very cool since Mario Galaxy has one of the most unique boss lineups in the Mario franchise
Throwback Throwdown Speedrun. Basically, defeat Dino Piranha and King Kaliente under 90 seconds, then don't miss any window to get Major Burrows, and then, for Bouldergeist and Pyro Piranha... inchallah you make it 😂😂

I remember i cheesed the level with the spin jump shadow marios by letting myself get hit by the shadow marios and recovering the damage with coins, leaving no shadow marios behind eventually
3:48 not to mention once you get to his second phase you get really stressed out, making it so much harder, and the more times you die and retry it, the more stressed you get.
i can argue with #2 is even harder in the switch version. it just says to tilt the right joy con, not the entire system. also, you can tap instead of using motion controls (handheld mode only)

When I first played Purple Coins in the Bonepen on 3d All Stars, I was using the touch screen.
I wasted around 10 seconds bumping into the meat things and still got it first try with 5 seconds left

Purple Coins in the Bone Pin makes me want to hurl my Wii Remote at the screen. The fact that its premise is already annoying enough, but *one minute?* Who thought that was a good idea? I remember when I finally beat the level, I instantly turned the game off and didn't play it for awhile. The most frustrated I've been with a Mario game at that point.
you should do a ranking of the 91 galaxies throughout both games
in #8, theres also a sling star at the end of the belt that doesnt go through the last coin, so the game punishes you for being curious when you see it

The last prankster comet I had to get to unlock Grandmaster Galaxy was the purple coin level on Roller Coaster Galaxy and that level almost made me lose my mind because of the stupid motion controls lol

I’ve only ever beaten Mario Galaxy (never got through Mario Galaxy 2), and weirdly enough, the comet that killed me the most was Purple Coins in the Desert (the Dusty Dune Galaxy Purple Coin Mission). That level was not difficult, just extremely annoying (also, that was only when playing as Mario. When as Luigi, the one that gave me the most trouble was Purple Coins on the Battlerock, which is just an easier version of Battlestation’s Purple Coins)
Do you know about this level called “10 Seconds Until Self Destruct” in A Hat in Time? That level is harder than The Perfect Run and Snatcher EX+ COMBINED!
even though The perfect run is hard, I think that the impossible pack from New Super Mario bros 2 is harder. It doesn't have one life, but it has three levels together. Also, in German it is known as Hals Und beinbruch, which means Neck and leg fracture, or as in a idiom, break a leg.

The platforms in dreadnought galaxy purple comet respawn so you can stay in one of the still ones after the moving one respawns
I beat Bouldergeist without getting hit, so yeah, I basically did the daredevil run.
Hey boss I have an idea for a moon in mario odyssey! You have to get a jizo statue to step on a p switch to get another statue and step on another switch...
And to make the level seem longer the jizo statue moves one mile per hour!

If you use a hand held switch and point at the pull star with your finger, it’s a lot less janky.

Both Galaxy games are easy to beat. Going for 100% is a decent challenge though. Been stuck on 105/120 stars in Galaxy 2 for awhile now

I just completed the lavaspire level in super Mario Galaxy,I tried and tired, enough so that I earned 999 star bits and could no longer get extra lives even if I got rid of star bits
I got all the way to the end only for a enemy to get me and I messed up multiple times enough that I kept driving at the sling stars

Okay, going to throw out a steaming hot take, non of the daredevil stars in Super Mario Galaxy 1 are hard at all.
Eh, yeah, I kinda agree. Only Lava Spire is really that tough and it's mostly just because it's so much longer than the rest.
But if you want a real challenge, try fighting Daredevil Kamella without spinning. Trust me when I say it is DIFFICULT.

I'm surprised that purple coins on the rainbow road are #3. I'm still trying to beat it even though i somehow easily beat purple coins in the bone pen. It should have been #1 due to the fact that you'd already be cracked at the game after suffering through purple coins on the rainbow road. It should have at least been at #2.
Edit: in case you are confused I mean purple coins on the rainbow road should at least be #2. I'm sure you already know this, but still.

Daredevil bouldergeist wasnt that hard, for 9 i wouldve put smg2 luigi purple coins, but i can see where your coming from.
Either that or good egg speedrun because the music was too distractingly good
