Thank you for joining me for the first Food and Wine at Tokyo DisneySea! What food do you want to try? If you're planning a trip to Tokyo Disney, you'll want to get our digital guidebook! tdrexplorer.com/books
I think it's more special that a lot of the food was strange/weird. Food festivals are meant to serve limited-time items you wouldn't otherwise be able to access other times of the year. It's a celebration of experimental potential.
Hey Chris! Just wanna shout out your awesome videos. I’m an American living in Japan but my wife is Japanese and we both love watching your videos. It’s become our nighttime routine while we relax and eat dinner!
Hey! Thank you so much, that makes me happy. Good call on watching while you're eating dinner, these videos would make you hungry, haha. いつも見ることに本当にありがとうございます!よろしくお願いします。
They seriously sold Bugles as " corn chips" 😂. It seems like a lot of these foods are "exotic Western foods", that someone in America (like me) thinks, "that isn't that special". It just makes me think if that is what Asian people think when they go to food festivals in the West and they serve "exotic snacks from Asia" 😂😂
The English name of the item is a little deceiving; they are make with a snack called "Togari corn" which have been in Japan since 1978. They're quite popular with kids here as well, just like they are in North America :)
FYI, brandy and chocolate is a common pairing; the only one I've had though is a Brandy Alexander - has brandy, dark creme de cacao, and heavy cream (with a sprinkle of nutmeg). so wintery while being a cold drink :)
Seems overall like a mixed bag with the tastiness of the festival offerings. I adore the event out here at California Adventure, so I hope the event does well at Tokyo Disney and it can improve food and merch wise! I think it would be cool if the stalls were more international or had stronger themes with their offerings, but who knows how that’d go over in Japan. Thanks for the thorough review Chris!
Thanks for the video! So excited to visit DisneySea in mid June and try some of these awesome foods 🎉🎉 Will you be updating your guide for Fantasy Springs anytime soon?
Thank you for watching! The current guidebook for 2024 has information on the Fantasy Springs Hotel and the new area. Including everything you need to know for getting into Fantasy Springs (arguably the most important piece of information). Once the area opens, we'll add in strategy after we've been able to test it in the field (which will be the 2025 version).
The theme food sounds interesting! Would love to see those. Maybe cause I'm Asian, but I don't find it strange to have black beans or sweet potatoes in a dessert. But that is one hunk of a black bean, lol
Hi Chris, I have been watching your posts for some time and wanted to ask you about gluten free options at Disneyland and DisneySea? You eat a lot of amazing dishes and I feel I can’t eat a lot there.
There isn't anything that's labeled as gluten-free, it's not common in Japan. It's not easy, I wish I had a better answer for you. They have an allergen-free menu, but it's not extensive. The Tokyo Disney Resort website has an allergy website where you can search for dishes based on ingredients. fsp.tokyodisneyresort.jp/en/p/info
My kids have food allergies and it xan be a challenge BUT you may have a slightly easier time than I did since you can opt for rice based stuff since it's gluten free for the most part, the bigger issue I'd think would be them using soy sauce over tamari or something like that. My kids are dairy allergic and it's in everything
Thank you for watching! I hope my English is easy to understand. You can say hello next time you see me at the parks! いつも見ることに本当にありがとうございます。今度見かけたら声をかけてください!日本語を話せいますよ。
What apps would you recommend for people who only use Apple iPhones in terms of translating languages from Japanese to English that u see on menus, posters, advertisements, brochures, etc?
@@tdrexplorer Halo-halo means "mixed" in English and it's crushed ice mixed with a bunch of stuff. There's no set recipe but there are some common ingredients. Sweet potato is one, yam, tapioca pearls, plaintains, flan, some add ube ice cream, beans, agar jelly, jackfruit, etc. HAHA it's a lot 😅 Also hi, didn't think you'd notice my comment. I love your channel! 😄
This is good news! I don't want to rub it in, BUT... at Paris Disneyland they have the food and wine carts open all the time at the Walt Disney Studios Park!
Do you have to buy a pass or special tickets to purchase the festival foods? I want that prosecco cup and I'll be there end of May! So happy you did this video!
Hmmm. Looks pretty disappointing with small portions and high prices. Went to one at CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE in LA and the food was so on point! Since I live in Tokyo I will totally skip this.
I wouldn't go specifically for all these items, maybe try one for something different (especially if you're able to visit more frequently). You can tell this is their first one, so if they decide to do it again I hope they improve the food offerings. Thank you for watching!
I just found your channel and I can't believe how many awesome videos you have! Thanks so much for sharing your Disney trips, they bring me joy at a time where I can't afford to travel to Disney like I used to. All the best to you!
Our family has been watching your videos for guidance before our trip to Japan. During our day at Disneyland, we saw you at the Center Street Coffeehouse; we were literally standing next to you in the queue. We wanted to say hi, but we didn't want to be a bother. Anyway, it was nice to see you.
Honestly between Florida's and visiting Cali's the week before visiting, I was so burnt out on Food and Wine Fests when I went to DisneySea a few weeks ago lol. Loved it though. Already planning to go back.
Nice video Chris! Fun o se what they do with their Food & Wine in Japan. Some things I'd try. That sunday what the heck was that? 😂 Glad to se they take chanses and all that but what?
I don't know much about Japanese cuisine, but I feel like a lot of the food lost something in translation for me. Probably just my western food pallet.
Chris! Where'd you get the burger bag? 1:33 why does this gave the same energy as the opening of Aladdin with the "it broke" 😂 2:00 Chris happy dance 4:11 the realization of grapefruit and not liking grapefruit is a bit of a mood 😂 7:35 saucey/spicy Cris is the best honestly 8:35 "I tell you what I want, what I really really want" I WANT SOME CHICKEN! 15:20 the "I can't really taste it. That's also kinda dangerous" to "THERE IT IS!" 😂 26:08 why didn't they put that in a cup? 😅
I agree with you with the sweetness level… Even though I share a border with the US, my pallet is not as sugary as theirs lol so I 100% appreciate less sweeter version.
Not sure, we don't know what events they're putting on for 2025 yet. But you can keep an eye on our website and we update it when event schedules are released! tdrexplorer.com/tokyo-disney-resort/events-calendar
Love the vid like always, Chris! Just wondering, were you saying ‘proost’ as in Dutch or German? Was surprised to hear you say that since i’m a Dutchie
@@tdrexplorer they do not! For food and wine, you're either juggling several little boxes or a big old tray. A cup holder would have solved many a problem I've had.
I’m dying for a Pokemon themed video 😅 Pokemon Cafe, Sweets, Center. Also there’s a collab cafe with BLEACH in Tokyo sky tree (I think), would be amazing to see 😁😁

It was a genuine blooper that we decided to keep it haha.
Very good video Chris for f&b other than your souvenirs video is the best video that you post

Now I want to make Bugles salad at home...
I like to call the Bugles Bouquet, haha.
Hi, and thank you! It wasn't clear to me...are there booths set up, or is it that existing locations have special food/drink items for the festival?
Love the dad jokes ❤ the best 😊
I'm at that age now aren't I? hahah
oh no, now I have to go back! Specialty food at Disney is so good
Haha, there were a few good ones in here. Thank you for watching!
This looks so fun!
It's fun to try all the different food!
The scallop thing is not eye appealing but chocolate in the cherry coke w/brandy so going to try that at home ❤ brandy
Definitely wasn't a fan of the scallop dish, but at least I gave it a try! Thank you for watching and enjoy the brandy
I love your commentary on the buffalo chicken 😂 also what are clear files you collect and use them for?
Thank you! Clear files are for holding papers.
What apps would you recommend for people who only use Apple iPhones in terms of translating languages from Japanese to English that u see on menus, posters, advertisements, brochures, etc?
One of the biggest things I miss from Japan is how cheap alcohol is
It's priced reasonably, that's for sure! At least compared to Saskatchewan, Canada (where i'm from originally)
@@tdrexplorerMy mom is Czech and my dad is Italian, and they told me that alcohol is so expensive in Canada compared to other places like Europe.
If you like cherry drinks try amoretto and cranberry juice 🎉
Ohhh, I'll give that a try.
The sweet potatoe sundae kinda reminds me of the Filipino halo-halo, cause it's just a bunch of things mixed together 😅

The nachos need small pieces of diced tomatoes. And that’s a liquid consumption Vessel
Yes!
I don't eat scallops, but when I saw them paired with mashed potatoes, I instantly screamed NO!
Yeah, it wasn't good.
Barnacle Bill's selling a PROTEIN BOAT!!!
That's a good point, hah.
The red wine with fruits, it's not Sangria?
Pretty much, but they didn't call it that so that's why I didn't.
I had the Dolce last week as well! My spoon broke as well before the first bite haha still so awesome! But I always love the ミゲルズキャンティーナ!
I'm glad I'm not the only one that had the spoon break on them, haha. Thank you for watching! I hope you had fun at the park.
I’ve NEVER seen someone eat a nugget sideways with a fork before. Not that it’s wrong… it’s just not necessary totally entirely right either.

Not sure if you ever plan on making channel merch, but you should make a clear file that says "My Beloved Clear File" 🤣
I second this! 😂 or to have a shirt that says something like it, since shirts are easy

That tray is super cute, and would come in handed at home with younger children to hold popcorn/chips and a their drink on laps as such, I

It sounds like they are serving currywurst, which is almost the national dish of Germany. Berlin used to have a Currywurst Museum!

Chocolate and brandy cordials are common
México has coke with Brandy, we call it "cubana" but it is not with chocolate. They maybe want to bring a twist
I am from New England, I had lobster Ice cream sundae with whipped butter icing

I couldn't be a camera woman I would want to eat too
I like your jacket, where did you get that?
That falafel looked so sad 😂 I think a lot of the food was questionable for me but the cocktails overall sounded good
