Omg mamamoo have ballads for dayyyyyss I'm still discovering them. Current fave is "i miss you"
OMG yes you must check out the live performance from their 4 Season F/W concert, it's a different version but so so good. I always end up watching that every time I hear the original - it's like a package deal for me lol
The colours represent Mamamoo's 4 Seasons/4 Colors album project where they released a new album for every season and featured a solo song from each member, starting with Yellow Flower (Spring/Hwasa), Red Moon (Summer/Moonbyul), Blue;s (Fall/Solar) and White Wind (Winter/Wheein). Paint Me is the introduction song to the 4 Seasons/4 colors project.
Mamamoo's Killing Voice Medley and Immortal Songs Medley are must to react to live versions of their own songs and cover songs.
The live version will blow you away. This is such a pretty ballad, and you wouldn't pick it for an opening of a big concert.... But that is what they did.
My favourite mv and song is Where are we now. Their Killing Voice performance will give you snippets of a few songs so you can see if you want to watch their whole mv for a certain song. Never heard this song before but it’s very pretty. They are also very good on Queendom.
For the ultimate Mamamoo ballad masterpiece you have to react to I Miss You. There is no music video but you can react to the live version performed for the tv competition show Queendom.
i love mamamoo so much, their vocal is just 💅✨
Mamamoo= perfection 👑 ♥️ 🔥♥️♥️🔥🔥♥️🔥🔥♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🔥
I really recommend you guys the orchestra version of this song!! It’s really beautiful and a more recent remake!
This song is part of the 4 seasons project:
They released 4 mini albums, which each member represented a season and color. It kicked off with “Paint Me”, which introduced the project. Then “Star, Wind, Flower, Sun” which is a fan song (also has an MV). See below for album, member, title track, and solo:
Yellow Flower (Spring) - Hwasa
Title: Starry Night
Solo: Be Calm
Red Moon (Summer) - Moonbyul
Title: Egotistic
Solo: Selfish
Blue;S (Fall) - Solar
Title: Wind Flower
Solo: Hello ( no M/V 😞, but she has a special pole performance to this song on her solarsido channel 🙂)
White Wind (Winter) - Wheein
Title: Gogobebe
Solo: 25
Mamamoo live is unreal, because they sing live so well it sounds like its recorded because they really are at the top with the best of the best vocalists. Other ballads, I Miss You(queendom version is best) I love too(moosical version) Where are we now, some others like Solar's Hello is, Wheein and Solar doing angel and many covers. They have really good MVs so these are worth watching but definitely go for live, truly it seems impossible on how good they are live. If you do watch concert videos you will see insanely good productions and performance. They have 100s of videos, they released over 25 songs in 2022 alone between albums, covers, collabs, OSTs, Solar doing a musical as the lead actress and their youtube channels.
Omg you need to experience the live version of Paint Me, it was life changing. Mamamoo are touring the US this May/June!
I’ve loved a number of Mamamoo songs, I had never heard this one before and it had me in tears! So beautiful 😮
Excellent comments on your first listen and MV view. I liked the description of Paint Me as a work of art and I'll have more to say about that idea later because I think of it as more of an art song than a typical ballad. The members are interested in visual art to varying degrees. Wheein is an artist and is the daughter of an artist. She designed most of her own tattoos and painted the cover art for her first solo album and a painting included in the MV for a solo song. Moonbyul is very into photography. The MV for MMM"s song Hip includes Wheein living an alternate life as an artist and the first set in the video is a nod to the work of American conceptual artist Barbara Kruger. There's much more to Paint Me as a song and MV than meets the eye & ear on first impression and while I'll try not to bore you with a long essay there's a lot to say about it and I may blab on.
Paint Me was a pre-release single from the Yellow Flower EP, which was the first album in Mamamoo's landmark year-long four album series 4 Season 4 Color. Paint Me is the theme song for the 4S4C project and it introduces the associations between the four seasons with four colors and four stages of love and provides the member assignments for each color. The albums were released between late March 2018 and early March 2019 and each album included a self-composed solo song by that season's member:
Yellow Flower: Spring, Yellow, Attraction, Hwasa, solo song Be Calm
Red Moon: Summer, Red, Passion, Moonbyul, solo song Selfish
Blue;S: Fall, Blue, Heartbreak, Solar, solo song Hello
White Wind: Winter, White, Innocence (or Unattached), Wheein, solo song 25
Paint Me introduces all the major concepts and cyclical symbolism used throughout the 4S4C series. The MV is deceptively simple and unless you're aware of the overall project I don't think anyone would pick out the subtleties and symbolic significance of the images, for instance the seasonal background projections a little after 2 minutes into the video: Hwasa/butterflies (Spring), Solar/desert sun (Summer), Moonbyul/empty branches (Fall), Wheein/snowflakes (Winter). There's also the implication of a life cycle paralleling the relationship cycle: Childhood/Innocence, Adolescence/Attraction, Adulthood/Passion, Old Age/Heartbreak. Death is the final stage but of course they'd need another color - Black. And tho it's not part of the 4S4C project black is mentioned in the lyrics as the final color and imo it's not a coincidence that the follow-up album to the 4S4C series is called "reality in BLACK" (BLACK = Bless Life And Carry Knowledge). And in addition to the cycles of seasons, life and relationships there are hints of corresponding Asian philosophical concepts such as Taoist 5 Element color theory, Yin & Yang, and an endless cycle of lives via reincarnation.
I won't blather on too much more but I'll point out some of the visual clues in the MV, such as the symbolic elephants in the room - the black and white pianos, which are the only identifiable objects in the whole MV. On one level they represent yin & yang, most obviously when they're fitted together in a yin yang symbol when the members are transported through the lid of the piano from the initial black & white abstract set to the full color world in the clouds. At the end of the song and of life they're wearing black and white in a nebulous black and white zone, which I interpret as a return to the primal forces of yin & yang after death, and imo the lightning in the background represents the spark of creation and the beginning of another life cycle via reincarnation. I think they reinforce these concepts musically by structuring the song as a series of waves. The song has a more powerful wave towards the end but it never reaches a climax like you'd except in a love ballad and instead ends with Solar's voice trailing off like a gentle wave receding at low tide.
And one final thought. I agree with the theory that the lover they're singing to in Paint Me is music, the thing that brings meaning to their lives and is their means of self-expression - literally and metaphorically the soundtrack of their lives. The lyrics are very unusual for a love song and I think the espresso line is one of the clues that the lover isn't a person. Every sense is mentioned except one, the sense of hearing: sight/painting, touch/engraving, smell/scent, taste/espresso. Imo they're all metaphors for the sense that glaringly isn't included, the sense by which we experience music. Listen to it again and read the lyrics with that theory in mind and see what you think.
Paint Me is one of Mamamoo's main vocal masterpieces in a recording studio and is my favorite MMM song. Unfortunately they've never performed this arrangement in full and only did partial versions a couple of times. In concert they do a stunning, dynamic orchestral rearrangement that includes a new rap verse by Moonbyul and that's the version they included on the 2 cd career retrospective album I Say Mamamoo: The Best, which came out in 2021 to commemorate their 7th anniversary. You can hear that version if you do a search on "Mamamoo 4 Seasons F/W Paint Me." They started their 4+ hour long 2019 4 Seasons F/W concerts with Paint Me. Highly recommended.
Looks like I failed miserably at keeping this comment fairly short. Sorry about that. 🙄
No, don't apologize. It's a very thorough comment and gives some great incite into Mamamoo (edit: this song, MV, and concept of the album). Thank you! 👍🏾
Oh, and I will be watching it again, for the 3rd time, in a few moments with your comment in mind.

Thank for checking out another Mamamoo track! There are versions of Paint Me live, however they are slightly different from the MV version. It's usually either used as a shortened intro in a song medley or for their concert it was an orchestra version that Moonbyul rewrote her part in. If you liked this song and are interested in diving into some of Mamamoo's solo work (all of the girls have solo careers as well) I highly recommend:
Wheein - Watercolor, Goodbye
Moonbyul - Absence, Shutdown
Hwasa - LMM, Maria
Solar - Honey, Spit it Out
Other group MVs to watch: Wind Flower, Starry Night, Decalcomanie, Taller Than You (be sure to get one with subtitles), Um Oh Ah Yeah, Yes I am, Piano Man, Hip.
Their live performances are really where it's at though, Immortal Songs Medley (cover song medley) and Killing Voice (Mamamoo song medley) are both iconic. Killing Voice also gives a good taste of their incredibly diverse discography without spoiling the songs too much.
I’m so happy to see you listen to more Mamamoo! Yes, their ballads are absolutely gorgeous. This song was the introduction to their “Four Seasons, Four Colors” project, which included four albums released between 2018 and 2019. As you saw in the MV, each member is associated with a different color and season. (I copied this from a wikia:
“Hwasa is assigned with the album Yellow Flower, the color yellow, and the season of spring.
Moonbyul is assigned with the album RED MOON, the color red, and the season of summer.
Solar is assigned with the album BLUE;S, the color blue, and the season of fall.
Wheein is assigned with the album White Wind, the color white, and the season of winter.
Each color is also associated with the stages of a relationship:
Yellow with the beginning of the relationship and love.
Red with the passionate romance of the relationship.
Blue with the sadness and loneliness felt during the breakup.
White with the clean and pure stage before starting to love again.”)
The song Egotistic is actually from the “Red” album, so you were spot on about Egotistic having a passionate/sexy/energetic concept and vibe. And yes, they are very inspired by art; Wheein, the member in the white dress, actually would have become a painter/visual artist if she wasn’t a singer, and still paints & draws all the time, she even worked on some album covers!
I hope you check out more of them - I’m still a relatively new fan (Moomoo, as they’re called) so there are many songs of theirs I haven’t heard yet either. They’re super talented (and hilarious in their vlog/interview/reality content) and have amazing group and solo songs.
as both a stan for babymetal and mamamoo, yes.
i love mamamoo 💚🥰
Your dog is just sooooo adorable 😍
She is such a goober❤️🥰
@@septasoareousrex I had to Google what goober means 😂
Wheein (who sings for white) is actually a painter. Some of her album cover backgrounds for her individual work are her own paintings ❤

I have never neard this Mamamoo song before as I am still new to them, this was breathtaking.
Vocal Queens❤️💜❤️..I highly recommend reacting to Mamamoo Dingo Killing Voice..
Mamamoo are the vocal queens of Kpop. If u guys want to see more rock in Kpop I recomend you check out Dreamcatcher they are the face of Rock in Kpop. Its not that common but, some more recent songs will have a rock element to songs like Tomboy or Pink venom.
React to their live performances and good news is mamamoo will come to america for the mycon concert 🔥🔥👑️👑️
Mamamoo 💜💜

Omg react to their performances too.
On your previous Mamamoo you were asking about the Cresent moon symbol. Well I don't know if it's there's. But thuer names being g if the universe. I thought maybe. Solar, Moonbyul, Wheein meaning star Hwsaw means shining brightly. I hope that helps. Just my thoughts on it.
Excellent job on checking out the lyrics to let us know your thoughts on the song. Keep up the good work. 👍 ❤️
Byul Is Star in english and Moon Byul Yi Is her real name. Wheein Is wind.
It's the symbol of their
"RED MOON" album. All of their albums
had their own symbol.
Let me get TEN:: PAINT ME
When MAMAMOO debuted they were told that they had to survive by the quality of their performance as their visuals weren't good enough. Being the well mannered young ladies that they are I'm sure that Solar and Byul helped him find his cane before he left. (WheeIn would have been holding Hwa Sa back)
