This guide may be outdated but still the best out there. Solar finally landed a lead musical role for Mata Hari last 2022. The reception was all positive and critics loved her performance. Clips can be found here in yt. Currently, Moonbyul is THE top credited female idol. Can't wait for part 2 :))
Moonbyul's vocal ability has gotten even better. She can easily be the Main Vocalist in almost any other group. She was recently on a show called "Second World" that brought together rappers from various girl groups to compete in a vocal competition. Moonbyul hit EVERY performance out of the park!
You can tell this was made by a real and talented fan. Fantastic video editing. 5:00 even the color of the subs representing the color of the members from the 4 season albums. I think Mamamoo is the only band, not just in Korea where I don't have a favorite, because I love them all equally, but for a different reason.
Something else I wanted to say, Moonbyul has 117 songs credited and not just for her raps, most of her solo work is written by her and her lyrics are very deep. On the other hand, Solar is everything crazy, funny and clueless that you saw here, however that is only one part since her personality is very complex when you start to know more about her, to begin with she is the leader of mamamoo and that is very difficult Considering the strong character and freedom of all its members, even her own company has said that they were always quite uncontrollable and Solar knew how to earn the respect of the group and when she speaks as a leader the others listen, it is quite difficult to see her really angry but when it happens it gives fear, even the members have said that when she gets angry it is better to be careful, they have also said that she is the one they run to when things get really serious. Solar may be a wonderful crazy person but she also has a serious side of character, a strong mentality and a great sense of responsibility. I honestly think that one of the things that made Mamamoo what it is today is Solar's leadership.
Oh wow! That side doesn't really come out in this guide, but we're hoping that we get to see much more of their content and get to know all of the sides to each member. Thank you so much for filling in the gaps for us
@@alongfortheridereacts You're welcome, if you want to see part of what Solar really means to the group, you can watch a video called, Solar being the leader and mother of mamamoo
Mamamoo members and their music has a lot of positive messages for people, especially. Women. With Mamamoo it's hard to pick a bias , it will change with every video. So it is perfectly fine to consider the whole group as the bias.
In this video and many other fan made videos, Solar's subs are blue, Moonbyul's are red, Hwasa's are yellow and Wheein's are white or white with black outlines. That come from the Four-Season, Four-Color project when each were assigned a color and an associated album. It can be very helpful when the one talking is off screen. Anyone else gets green. I see a number of comments about Solar as leader. There is a very good fan made video called Solar, Leader and Mother of Mamamoo. She guested on a TV show called Boss in the Mirror and was so popular, she became part of the regular cast.
Purple Hawke's guide is actually the best one (top tier) it's just too bad it's a little outdated now but still gives you an idea of who these wonderful women are and what they stand for. But let me tell you it only scratches the surface ~ Looking forward to pt 2!
It really is an incredible guide. Scratching the surface is perfect for us at the current point of our journey - we're now hooked and want to know EVERYTHING!!
What i like about mamamoo is that each of them kept her identity and personality didn't have to bend completely to fit group image and concept like other ggs in one video u find sexy girly androgynous u just name it !! The concept accommodates to them not the other way around
Loving your journey and seeing you fall in love with them. Mamamoo have it all: vocals, dance, humor and a great message. Also cool to see how they different personalities but when united they compliment each other. I wish there was a 2023 guide because they did so much since, like Solar's musical and Moonbyul winning a vocal competition. But this one is still the best to introduce them. Can't wait to see more 😊
I think Purple Hawke's guide is still the gold standard tho it's several years old. Moo YT's two part guide brings you up to 2022. The one quibble I have with the guide is that Solar's leadership was glossed over with funny scenes of the members teasing and ignoring her. She's goofy, fun and funny and she's definitely Mamamoo's #1 crackhead but that's just one part of her kaleidoscopic personality. She's probably has the most happy and well-adjusted collection of contradictory personality traits I've encountered and the other members have jokingly accused her of having a multiple personality disorder. It's impossible to get to know her quickly but a basic rule of thumb is to look for the flip side of whatever you see. If she seems childlike, uninhibited, random, silly, gullible and basically like a total airhead with pipes, well, those types of expression are like sparks from the creative fire of her radiant pure spirit, which, when she applies herself to music, means there's no filter between her warm, generous heart and effortlessly powerful voice. Solar is my bias, not because of her power belting and charismatic stage presence but because she's the one who makes me cry when they do ballads and she can bring a lump to my throat with the bend of a note in the most unlikely songs. Purple Hawke didn't mention it but Solar & Moonbyul are best friends and are almost inseparable Looking forward to part 2 and the rest of your Mamamoo journey!
It seems that each member of the group has multiple complex parts to their personalities... we're only just getting to know them and we can't wait to find out more. Thank you so much for giving us more context on Solar
@@alongfortheridereacts YW. I rambled on about Solar's personality and didn't say much about her strong leadership. Solar is often called the mom of Mamamoo. It might not seem like it but Solar is the most organized, driven and hard working member of what might be the hardest working group in showbiz. During their first couple of years they'd often make 3 or 4 appearances a day and last year they recorded and/or performed over 50 new songs (covers and originals) as a group, solo or subunit even tho Solar was busy for almost 6 months making her musical theatre debut playing the lead in Mata Hari and MMM was on the road for their first world tour during the last couple months of the year. They're hard to keep up with and I think the reason the other workaholic members call themselves The Loser Crew is that they gave up trying to keep up with Solar. They like to goof off while mom is busy doing leader things but when they're serious they thank her for taking care of all the behind the scenes details. There's an old vid called Solar Being the Leader and Mother of Mamamoo that fills in some of the blanks and is worth watching when you have time. 😊

Speaking of how Mamamoo is a group who breaks a lot of boundaries (in a good way ofc) I think you should listen to "shutdown" by Moonbyul feat Seori. They represent and challenge a lot of things that are not allowed and fit table in there, such thing as the beauty standard and how to act as an idol or something😭
The MAMAMOO members are among some of the most-credited idols in K-Pop as of early 2023 - Moonbyul actually has the most songwriting credits of all 3rd generation female idols at 115(2nd most credited famale artist overall... Yoon Mirae at 139), since she writes her own raps(and more) in almost all of the group’s songs. As well as contributing to the songwriting in many of them as well. - Solar has 37 credits to her name. She wrote the lyrics and composition for her solo song, “Spit it Out”. Composer on "Honey". - Hwasa has 44 credits. The lyrics to her solo song, “María”, were praised for its inventive and meaningful wordplay. There’s been an addition to the Solar memes 🤣 Also, you can’t really pick a favorite in Mamamoo 🤣 I personally go on rotation on who’s my favorite haha
You neeeed!!! To watch moonbyuls appearance on second world. She sings a song called “refuge”. This song seriously brings out her vocal skills and when I say you will be speechless I mean it 😂
3:45 This kinda says it all, really. "Why are we doing this?" "For the memes." "Oh, okay, cool..." 😂 11:10 "Oh no," Byul says. "She's gonna start regretting it _tomorrow;_ I'll make sure of that." 😏 14:50 Dude, roses are _delicious._ Anything rose-flavoured, I am 100% down for. 14:55 The dogs are Moonbyul's corgis, Haengwon, Geongang and Daebak, who she refers to as "breadloaves". I think it's a common nickname for corgis, on account of what they look like when they're laying down... 21:45 For the record, the dancer taking the mick out of Byul was choreographer Lia Kim; she's kind of a legend in the industry. 23:25 "This is brilliant; I don't even have to _do_ anything and you'll still cheer!" 28:25 Yeah, _at the time,_ she was trolling; now she _actually_ has a Moonbyulida YT channel... 😏
@@alongfortheridereacts Taste? Honestly, my bias is Wheein, but as with all the best groups (totally not thinking of Dreamcatcher, Rolling Quartz or Billlie 😏), really it's all of them...
Here's a straightforward rundown to help you two identify which Kpop generation a group debuted in just in case you still don't know or are confused: 1997 - 2002 = 1st Generation 2003 - 2011 = 2nd Generation 2012 - 2017 = 3rd Generation 2018 - 2022 = 4th Generation 2023 - 20?? = 5th Generation A Kpop generation ends once you see or hear multiple groups who debuted within a certain generation enter a contract renegotiation or renewal with their current company, see some of them disband, see some of them move to a new company, see some members of a group carry out multiple solo projects while still being a member of their group. Groups that debuted in the transition period meaning the last year of the previous generation and the first year of the new generation such as 2002-2003, 2011-2012, 2017-2018, and 2022-2023 are often mixed up or mistaken to belong in a particular generation instead of their actual generation for example groups who debuted last year (2022) would be mistaken as 5th Gen when they're actually 4th Gen and groups who debuted this year (2023) would be mistaken as 4th Gen when they're actually 5th Gen. Each K-pop generation also has certain characteristics and images; going over this would take a while, so I'll leave it at that.
PurpleHawk did a great job making the guide fun. It's unfortunate that some people treated her so badly she stopped doing YT content. You don't have to pick a favorite. 😃
Rewatching... It's hard to tell when Solar is just having a Ditzy moment or she is just trying to make the memebers laugh. She does that a lot, very much the mother hen, and very pertective of the members.
To expand on this ^^^^, "MoonSun" is the "ship" name for the relationship between Moonbyul and Solar. It's like 99% probable that they are in a romantic relationship with each other, now in their old married stage, but nothing confirmed because it's Korea. Their entire relationship, from awkward beginning to current comfortable status, was recorded and posted to RUclips, even their dates, so you can watch it all. Plus there are hundreds (NOT exaggerating) of MoonSun fan videos posted, showing all of their best moments together. Some of the best of those were created by a RUclipsr called Tomiskus. They are freaking hilarious.
@@alongfortheridereacts So, I actually recommend delaying the MoonSun reactions until you get a sense of just how comfortable ALL of them are with each other, then you can take that particular aspect into account before deciding, is MoonSun real or not? Because Mamamoo is the touchiest, feeliest, kissiest Korean group out there, period. (I qualify it as Korean because the Chinese group SNH48 makes Mamamoo seem positively chaste in comparison.) Some examples... Gayest Things That Mamamoo Ever Did by Moomoo Once: ruclips.net/video/Zhz-ORio98A/видео.html Mamamoo Kissing Each Other by Moomoo Once: ruclips.net/video/8BrF3Xt2Xmk/видео.html Mamamoo Hot and Spicy Moments by Moomoo Once: ruclips.net/video/mY2R5-ms1xw/видео.html Then I recommend getting an overview of all the Mamamoo ships, MoonSun, WheeSa, WheeByul, WheeSun, HwaSun, and Hwabyul... An opinionated guide to all MAMAMOO ships by Natasha Arnold: ruclips.net/video/qmBudfSsA1o/видео.html (Fair warning, both Hwasa and Wheein have admitted to being in LTR's with guys now, but I don't doubt that there were some hot moments between the two of them when they were younger.) Then you can get into the specifics of MoonSun. Tomiskus has both four separate videos between 8 and 10 minutes long and then one compilation that combines all four into one loooong video. The advantage of the long video is that s/he took out a lot of the popular songs that will get you blocked on RUclips that were included in the short videos. The disadvantage (besides the length) is that it's not quite as funny, I don't think. The short videos: MoonSun on Crack: ruclips.net/video/uvgXptJc7Y4/видео.html MoonSun on Crack 2: ruclips.net/video/X6_PbXVFTx8/видео.html MoonSun on Crack 3: ruclips.net/video/WSTlCnU0MAg/видео.html MoonSun on Crack 4: ruclips.net/video/kK2_oeOdHls/видео.html The long video, MoonSun on Crack re-edited: ruclips.net/video/Cbk7TOq1KSE/видео.html Since those are all old, I'll throw in some more recent videos that aren't as funny but are still chock-full of MoonSun goodness. - Hwasa has 44 credits. The lyrics to her solo song, “María”, were praised for its inventive and meaningful wordplay. ("Somebody" w/Loco).
- Wheein has 9 credits (that I can find, maybe more)
UPDATE Aug 27/23
- Moonbyul 117
- Solar 41
- Hwasa 46
-Wheein 10(at least one song on her new album is written by her)
Their talents just don't end!!
I'd love to see your reactions to some fan video compilations of the girls or some of their group interaction videos that showcases their bond and honestly hilarious side
This is a great idea, thank you!
The MAMAMOO members are among some of the most-credited idols in K-Pop as of early 2023
- Moonbyul actually has the most songwriting credits of all 3rd generation female idols at 115(2nd most credited famale artist overall... Yoon Mirae at 139), since she writes her own raps(and more) in almost all of the group’s songs. As well as contributing to the songwriting in many of them as well.

UPDATE Aug 27/23 This needs an update... anyone?
- Moonbyul 117 +
- Solar 41 +
- Hwasa 46 +
- Wheein 10 +
@9:25 “That’s how I feel about you sometimes”
@16:17 😂😂
And she has moonbyulida now as her yt account hahahha.
Hahahaha! She's so funny
Yeeah thanks a lot, you guys are amazing. Can't wait for the part 2 wheein and hwasa, also if you have a time. Check the part group too.
Can't wait. 😂
Thank you so much!! We really appreciate you checking out our videos and leaving all your great comments.
There’s been an addition to the Solar memes 🤣
Also, you can’t really pick a favorite in Mamamoo 🤣 I personally go on rotation on who’s my favorite haha
I think my personal bias is "the one that's on the screen now"
You neeeed!!! To watch moonbyuls appearance on second world. She sings a song called “refuge”. This song seriously brings out her vocal skills and when I say you will be speechless I mean it 😂
We've been left speechless by this group many, many times already... this sounds perfect for us
You now have 1k subscribers... Congrats!
Thanks for this
You're very welcome. Thanks for joining us
❤❤❤
3:45 This kinda says it all, really. "Why are we doing this?" "For the memes." "Oh, okay, cool..." 😂
11:10 "Oh no," Byul says. "She's gonna start regretting it _tomorrow;_ I'll make sure of that." 😏
14:50 Dude, roses are _delicious._ Anything rose-flavoured, I am 100% down for.
23:25 "This is brilliant; I don't even have to _do_ anything and you'll still cheer!"
28:25 Yeah, _at the time,_ she was trolling; now she _actually_ has a Moonbyulida YT channel... 😏
I know people are saying it's impossible to have a favourite in this group... if that's true, why do I love Moonbyul so much!?
@@alongfortheridereacts Taste? Honestly, my bias is Wheein, but as with all the best groups (totally not thinking of Dreamcatcher, Rolling Quartz or Billlie 😏), really it's all of them...
Yay! Tomorrow 😂
:-) Not long to wait now :-)
Here's a straightforward rundown to help you two identify which Kpop generation a group debuted in just in case you still don't know or are confused:
1997 - 2002 = 1st Generation
2003 - 2011 = 2nd Generation
2012 - 2017 = 3rd Generation
2018 - 2022 = 4th Generation
2023 - 20?? = 5th Generation
A Kpop generation ends once you see or hear multiple groups who debuted within a certain generation enter a contract renegotiation or renewal with their current company, see some of them disband, see some of them move to a new company, see some members of a group carry out multiple solo projects while still being a member of their group.
😂❤
PurpleHawk did a great job making the guide fun. It's unfortunate that some people treated her so badly she stopped doing YT content.
You don't have to pick a favorite. 😃
This is the best guide I've ever seen. PurpleHawke did an amazing job!
Moonbyul is multitalented but doesn’t get much praise I hope u check her solos out
After watching this, I NEED to check our her solo stuff
Moonbyul has a RUclips channel moonbyulida 😂
Why can I only hear Moonbyulida in the sing-song tune she uses in this video????
❤ please react to mamamoo starry night
Rewatching... It's hard to tell when Solar is just having a Ditzy moment or she is just trying to make the memebers laugh. She does that a lot, very much the mother hen, and very pertective of the members.
Please react to Moonsun
We are 100% HERE FOR THIS!!! YES!!!
@@alongfortheridereacts Okay, great, let me make up a list of top-notch videos for you to watch. It'll take a while to put together the links.
Gayest Things That Mamamoo Ever Did by Moomoo Once: ruclips.net/video/Zhz-ORio98A/видео.html
Mamamoo Kissing Each Other by Moomoo Once: ruclips.net/video/8BrF3Xt2Xmk/видео.html
Mamamoo Hot and Spicy Moments by Moomoo Once: ruclips.net/video/mY2R5-ms1xw/видео.html
Then I recommend getting an overview of all the Mamamoo ships, MoonSun, WheeSa, WheeByul, WheeSun, HwaSun, and Hwabyul...
An opinionated guide to all MAMAMOO ships by Natasha Arnold: ruclips.net/video/qmBudfSsA1o/видео.html
(Fair warning, both Hwasa and Wheein have admitted to being in LTR's with guys now, but I don't doubt that there were some hot moments between the two of them when they were younger.)
Then you can get into the specifics of MoonSun.
The short videos: MoonSun on Crack: ruclips.net/video/uvgXptJc7Y4/видео.html
MoonSun on Crack 2: ruclips.net/video/X6_PbXVFTx8/видео.html
MoonSun on Crack 3: ruclips.net/video/WSTlCnU0MAg/видео.html
MoonSun on Crack 4: ruclips.net/video/kK2_oeOdHls/видео.html
The long video, MoonSun on Crack re-edited: ruclips.net/video/Cbk7TOq1KSE/видео.html
Since those are all old, I'll throw in some more recent videos that aren't as funny but are still chock-full of MoonSun goodness.

I'll add more of my own commentary if and when you get around to some of these.
@@alongfortheridereactsDid you get the list of links before it was hidden? I just looked earlier today and saw the list was not showing for anyone else but me.
If you watch the old footage of SNSD you will understand why Mamamoo who call SNSD their role models are such goofballs when they are not performing.
That's a great recommendation. Thank you
