    Hey, just to point out a couple of things that of course people outside of the creator discord wouldn't know (how could you of course!) - The listed streamers weren't ''chosen''.
    A Jmod pinged the entire discord asking anyone who wanted to be in the mention, to let them know and they would be mentioned.
    These people were just the ones that asked / responded.
    For example if I had replied and said ''Sure ill be live at launch here is my link'' I would have also been on there too. I just didn't stream the quest.
    As for the content creator discord, I am certain if you dm a jmod (prob a CM on twitter) you would get an invite :) There isn't a sub requirement or anything. They just need to be aware of the creator and sometimes they just need a nudge to actually get you the invite. (I didn't get an invite until I literally HAD to be in there for golden gnomes). But there are plenty of people in there with 500 subs for example!
    Creators mentioned are there purely because they replied to that question from the jmod.

      I understand that, to be clear, my primary issue is that the process should probably be a bit more involved than click this button for a free promo. My main criticism is that Jagex should be more involved in who they promo. If a new quest is coming out, I feel like everyone benefits from having people who really care about the lore of the game being showcased by Jagex. I'm not saying that other people shouldn't get the chance, it just seems weird to me that we're showcasing someone who has a policy that they REFUSE to not spacebar quests being featured on the new quest. If the current process can select that person for the new quest, then it has to be adapted. Also, FWIW, I didn't know there was a creator discord until I made this video and creators told me lol.

      It’s generally hard to find any positive players these days. Not only is out current social climate pretty volatile (people don’t know how to be human to other people anymore. For example even just trash talking a recent update can make a few people really sad if they actively worked on it), but the GAMING community as a whole has become so incredibly terrible to the games, devs and each other.
      And it’s sad because even if it’s not presented in a toxic manner, a lot of the “good” content creators are just as bad but just don’t outwardly present it. For example that weird dude “TheRSGuy”. The one with the really high pitched voice and inability to sit still. He constantly shames the game but is forced to put on a smile because his only skill set is RuneScape 3 and he can’t make a living otherwise. Recently someone found a revolution bar for P4 Telos that basically does the phase for you. And he’s saying stuff like “this is a real game we play guys.” ‘and “there’s no challenge left in this game”. Dudes talking about a 10 year old boss and there are quite a few really difficult challenges in this game regardless of ONE phase of a decade old boss being able to utilize revolution.
      Then you have emotionally unstable people who leave the game because of an optional cosmetic hero pass. Or because they’ve played the game for 20 years and have no content and then think Jagex not releasing a new update every week is akin to ‘no content’. (It’s not, most games have a LOT less content overall and being released).
      It’s not a Jagex problem or a RuneScape problem. It’s a reflection of how we are as a society lol. Every gaming community fucking sucks these days. Every fandom sucks. Everything sucks lmao.

    Hi :) I’m sure you know this already, Stormy read out the entire quest dialogue on the stream including the lore books, he just didn’t post his vod. He also has almost completed the entire game as a true trimmer with only clue logs left. With this quest being the biggest update of the year so far and future content updates looking dire, he had no choice but to start playing osrs because rs3 wasn’t fun anymore. Stormy is still passionate about rs3 and if a clue update or new content comes out he would be back in a heartbeat. He also reads the rs3 patch notes on stream almost every Monday night if he is able to :)

    Hi Raph, I also make lore content for the game and am active, getting out about a video a month (sometimes more sometimes less). I unfortunately don’t stream and also don’t have a big following but there are many passionate lore hounds out here in the community. I don’t focus on new content, I like to tell stories of old but I do have a playlist showcasing in depth lore on various slayer creatures in Runescape and I am currently doing a series on the entire lore of morytania. I try to involve other creators and members of the community by helping me voice dialogue from in game text as well which is really fun. I hope that going forward, with such a small content creator sphere we can come together to support and lift one another up and continue to build positive impacts for our game :)

He clearly streamed it all very carefully like a lore hound, why was this person with infinite passion with something sort of made for him not a featured creator?
    I think it is common knowledge but Jagex as a company is bad about endorsing their creators. Mod's individually have to go out of their way to interact which is just bizzare that it isnt pushed by the company itself. I would make the maker space so good

    I usually like to see myself as more a semi-lorehound that cares about lore but do not have the memory capacity to know every detail. I do not spacebar quests but I have a memory of a goldfish where I probably forgot a lot of the quests I've done years ago.
    But one thing I can never forget is my hate towards Zamorakians. Spacebarring quests still hurts my soul though >.<
    But yeah I do agree that Lorehounds are the best for quest streams.
    Some content creators like you mentioned comes to mind, Prideslayer!
    If someone wants to spacebar quests, that's okay though. I see where you're coming from that a spacebarer doesn't look good for a new quest. Seems like after reading the comments, the issue lies in how to get featured on the Newspost from Jagex's side.

      I really try to be positive about the game. If you watch my streams, I'm pretty much always defending Jagex and telling people to stop freaking out over the future of the game. At least once a stream, it will come up that there's no content or that rs3 is mtxscape or some other complaint (used to be about hero pass, but that's over). It's very rare that I criticize Jagex at all. In recent memory, my main criticisms of Jagex are that they don't encourage us to do quests, so most people spacebar through them (which I would argue is bad since our quest system is the best out of any MMO) and that release Lord of Bones was comically weak. Even when Hero Pass stuff was going on, I said that with the content buffs, it was pretty egregious, but after they took those out, it was fine. I would argue that fixed Hero Pass would have been a very good addition to the game as I found it to be way more enjoyable than Yak Track.

    From what RSGuy said Prideslayer was supposed to be on the advertised list of streamers and someone at Jagex dropped the ball. RSGuy raided Prideslayer and I watched him do the quest. It was interesting to see him enjoy the quest, however during the time I watched he did kind of say that he is uninterested in much of the game and doesn't engage in much of the content, certainly nowhere to the extent that Stormy has. His knowledge of lore made him a good choice for Jagex to advertise.
    I don't know if Stormy streamed the new quest or not because I didn't tune in. I have watched as he almost completed RS3 and then got bored of doing thousands of clue scrolls to try and finish those logs.
    CompleteRS hasn't really uploaded in 5 years, so I don't know why you would even suggest him. I have no clue if he even plays anymore, so he could hardly have been chosen as someone to watch.

    • @raphtheboygenius
      @raphtheboygenius  6 месяцев назад +2

      The point wasn't "let's showcase CompleteRS," it's "if we're doing a launch event around the new lore thing, shouldn't people who care about lore be involved?" I looked up runescape 3 lore and showed the first 3 channels that talked about. That took literally 5 seconds and if Jagex would do 5 more seconds of research they would've seen that Prideslayer is the only one of the first three lore guys that streams.

    • @raphtheboygenius
      @raphtheboygenius  6 месяцев назад +2

      Also, it is worth considering that if Prideslayer was under the impression he would be featured and sees that in the morning, he would feel super disenfranchised by the company. I also like how you put it, these guys are completely entitled to make whatever content they want - the problem is jagex's poor selection and engagement with the cc scene.
    And finally you mentioned caring a lot about the scene. This sucks to say but I'd genuinely advise you to try not to do that. It's 2024 and if Jagex is still this poor in understanding its cc scene for rs3 then you're most likely going to end up increasingly frustrated when at best they're gonna make incremental improvements. Applaud you for making the effort though.

  • @ChevalricRS
    @ChevalricRS 6 месяцев назад +17

    Alright, time to write a paragraph.
    1. Everyone who was part of the content creator discord was asked if they had any plans for the release of the quest and if they wanted to be mentioned in the news post. Only 4 people replied apparently, but that is why they chose me, stormy, moonfairy and crystal. Is this the best way to showcase all the creators covering this? probably not, but that is how they chose to do it.
    2. Yes my titles are negative, big shocker they do better when they are that way. I have experimented with my titles for over a year before this and found that I get 2x the amount of views / Clickthrough rate whenever the titles are like that; there are even studies done on the matter if you are interested in understanding more. If you actually watched the videos, you see that my opinions are very nuanced on most of those topics and quite frankly, i get called out for sucking Jagex off more than being called out for hating them LOL
    3. I spacebar through the quest because I am visually impaired and can't physically read the dialogue easily, something I mentioned EVERY TIME I do this and even if you spacebar through quests in runescape, you can still see what is going on on screen; zamorakian warriors = zamorak involvement, guthixian shrine = guthix, you get the point.
    4. Yes I only stream new updates now, due to personal reason I couldn't stream every single day anymore like I did for years before this; I even checked with Jagex if it is okay for me to be mentioned when I stream less, as I understand that putting someone up there who doesn't stream much VS others might seem unfair to them.
    If you ever want to have a further conversation about this, feel free to add me on Discord: "Chevalric", as I am willing to answer any questions you might have; as I see you care for the game, but going after individuals like this without proper context is a bit of an L.

    Without saying anything negative about anyone mentioned in the video, I am subscribed to at least one and watch one of the others, I would say that each content creator has their own style and flavor. I watch some creators for their opinions, some for humor, IMSIKOVIT for his quest guides(by far the guy to strive to imitate) and some out of loyalty even though they may be getting toxic. I think Jagex, and most companies, know exactly what they are doing when they make questionable social media choices. Confusing or negative company posts generate a ton of free press from creators and can stir viewers to engage when they might have been disengaging. My favorite RS3 videos(almost everyone I watch is guilty) are the "there is no new content" and "OMG, MTX is ruining the game", absolutely trashy, whiny content followed by "oh look, a new blah, blah, blah" followed by "new content sucks" and "Jagex doesn't listen". You guys are the best, keep up the soap opera!!

    Look man, I think you're misrepresenting what actually happened. It was an open call to anyone who is in the discord, even me someone who is only playing OSRS right now and has since Necromancy. The four in the news post responded which is why they were there. I'm not privy to the actual discussion, but as I understand Prideslayer was supposed to be in the news post but wasn't due to an error, likely due to the fact that he joined the discord right before the quest dropped. Shit happens. All the creators want to have more people in the discord who are creating RS3 content, who knows someone may have even suggested you shortly.
    The RS3 creator scene is kind of dead, RSGuy as you mentioned is really pushing the envelope of the category but that's about it. RSGuy is also way too nice to want to take one of those spots on the newspost and would rather other people get exposure, partly due to how he is secure as the #1 streamer in the category but also because he is a genuinely good guy who wants to bring the category up with him. RSGuy even raided Prideslayer which was a great thing to do.
    When a piece of PvM content comes out, we don't have a DPM requirement to be in the newspost, they put everybody who want to be in there. There is no selection process, its a FFA. Its only notable because the scene is so dead right now, so there was only 4 people and a couple of those people are barely playing the game
    The callout on Chev went a little too far, especially because all of 13 days ago you used a negative title for engagement farming. You remind me a lot of myself back in 2020, right down to the thumbnails and talking about the creator scene. I'd be willing to help if you want some advice lots of really simple things you can do that will help get views. I struggled early on "selling" myself for views, but what I learnt was that regardless of the money the main reason you make videos is to help people and by getting more eyes on your videos you're helping more people

      To be clear, my issue is not that these creators suck, it is that some of the creators they selected don't seem like the great picks. I'm not in the creator discord, I didn't even know there is one. Consequently, I wasn't aware that the way to get featured was to say you wanted a feature. My issue is that the selection process probably needs some work if one of the people they selected to showcase a quest has a known "policy" of spacebarring quests. That's my only professional issue with Chev. I don't like his content, but it's not for people like me, so that's fine. If you want to have a semantic discussion about general engagement farming vs. outrage farming, I'm happy to have that, but I'd like to think I do engagement farming while Chev has a lot of content that is outrage farming. If you want to discuss this point further, you can DM me on discord and we can chat. Stormy is a super good guy, was incredibly cordial when we chatted (and we ultimately ended up on the same page). I don't agree that RS3 content creation is dead, but I do think that we're really struggling. It's easy to farm outrage, so that's what most people are doing. Creators need to make content that's more than just "here's how much progress I made on this thing" and guides. However, it feels like this was a big missed opportunity to showcase some of the cool lore guys we have in the community. I think I addressed everything, if you feel like I didn't adequately respond to a point you made, let me know.

    Even with a multitude of lore creators, it seems you overlooked the fact that Jagex will only feature individuals who are in the Content Creator discord on their homepage. The issue at hand is that Jagex selects who gets/doesn't get in that discord without a proper application process, and that's what needs to be talked about, this is not a creator problem at all, this video is just pointless.

    • @raphtheboygenius
      @raphtheboygenius  6 месяцев назад +1

      This video VERY clearly talks about I'm not sure why these creators were chosen, making it a Jagex problem. I'm not even in the creator discord, I didn't know one existed until today. Whatever process they use clearly needs to be updated/expanded if one of the people they picked for the quest has a policy that he space bars quests.

    • @beausz
      @beausz 6 месяцев назад

      @@raphtheboygeniusIt's understandable that the majority of creators don´t know about the existence of that discord. It´s also meaningful to have a space for jagex and their creators to collaborate on stuff.
      However the entire process of getting in that discord feels extremely convoluted when it could literally be simplified through something like an application form with minimal requirements and some terms of agreement rather then "we pick and choose who goes in and who does not".
      Not only would it attract more people to create content but it would also expand the pool of creators to pick from for future quest releases.
      Chevalric mentioned below only four of them responded to their recent request which kinda showcases the need for a larger pool of creators to pick from, which simply doesn´t exist now.

    Looks like Chevelric responded, but to give a 3rd party take, he already has a working relationship with Jagex. Was one of the creator's who got to try necromancy pre-release. This alone is enough to prime him as a target for this kind of thing.
    He goes on to express that the spacebar is something due to an impairment, which I was going to mention, but refer to his comment.
    His content isn't for me, but if i recall the negative titles are often more for "clickbait" thsn actually the thesis of the video. In his video on the quest he says right in the beginning that he refuses to read it so he's spacebarring through the whole thing. That is 100% okay to do, even more so if there is a reason behind it besides "I want the reward so skip all the cutscenes," but I'm just not convinced that's a good candidate for showcasing the new quest.

      I'm not outrage farming. My goal isn't to increase my share of the RS3 community space, my goal is to point out a clear issue with how content creators are selected. My video about why quests suck talks about how quests DO suck for the majority of players. If I didn't believe that or if I used the title to say "well actually" then I'd agree with you, but I don't do that. If the way that I can get featured on the main channel is liking Jagex's status for a "truth is", that seems... not correct. Even if a new process came out and it still picked the exact same creators, the current process obviously needs improvements.

      @@raphtheboygenius I can agree the current process needs work.
      However this video specifically calling out other creators when you clearly aren't very tuned into the creator scene is super out of pocket.
      Your suggesting people who haven't made content in 5 years, suggesting that chev doesn't fight tooth and nail for jagex even when the majority of the playerbase disagrees, suggesting that stormy doesn't have 40k hours in the game and clearly deserves a spot in this,
      and most of all doing it without the context of them being in the cc discord and it just being a signup message of which only 4 people opted in to. (which by the way i wonder why, it's almost like people aren't interested in showcasing content for RS3 because since Vorkaths release there has basically been no updates.)

      I literally said in the video "2 of the 3 people I mentioned don't even stream, but Pride does so why wasn't he featured?" I really don't know how much clearer I could've been that maybe Jagex should proactively seek out lore guys for the lore thing. I also said that the depth of my research on the lore creators was googling "Runescape 3 lore." Shouldn't Jagex be doing at least that when deciding who is going to showcase their new lore event?
      It doesn't matter that Chevalric is pro-Jagex. He has a policy where he refuses to not spacebar quests. Jagex should have some way of saying "maybe not you for this event." Stormy is not currently playing RS3 on stream. He afks off-stream or to the side, but he doesn't play it on stream. His current streaming content is based around Old School. At this point in time, I think it's fair to say Stormy is currently an Old School creator. The process that selects people should probably care whether or not people are actively playing. Stormy and I chatted and we're on good terms, he understands where I'm coming from.
      In case it's not clear, my professional issue is not with their content, it is that the selection process should be a little bit more involved than "like my status for a feature." That process is bad, period. A company that is trying to promote creators SHOULD promote creators that are good matches for the content. While you could argue that Stormy is a good fit given his time with the game, a big part of being a good fit for the content should be actively making content around the game.
      I understand that you're butthurt about Runescape 3 and that you want to see it burn, but that doesn't mean you need to misrepresent what was in my video. The title is literally Jagex is Mismanaging Content Creators. I don't know how you can read that title, watch the video, and then think that I think the responsibility for this problem is on anyone besides Jagex.
