    When I saw the Panther and Jagdpanther right next to each other at the US Army Ordinance Museum, Aberdeen, Maryland, you could see that the slope of whole side armor (right above the tracks) of the hull superstructure on the Jagdpanther represents the same angle of the side hull armor of the Panther. Beautiful design relation.
    I ran my bare hand on this chunky hard cold steel side armor ....
    Perfect combination of speed, mobility, firepower, and protection .... ❤️

I love Sherman tank in all of it's variants. It's one of my all time favorite tank series.
    However, you have to admit that even the M4A3(76)W HVSS was near-hopelessly outmatched by PzVs and VIs. Only the Firefly had a realistically fair shot of defeating them.
    At least the M4s was a good match against the PzIIIs and IVs (tanks that the M4 was anticipated to encounter) but the experience of the Geman crews, as well as their far superior optics, guns, and projectiles still gave them the edge.

    Gosh I envy that driver having great fun driving that beast around as if it was a toy! Besides being impressed with his driving skills I was impressed with the very good genetal restoration and in particular with the notoriously difficult engine! Not once it was spluttering or smoking despite being pushed quite hard and the sound was marvelous! If you compare with the Tiger of bovington museum you can hear the difference! The Tiger engine is less harmonious, more ragged and smokey! Did the Germans employed a veteran to do such a marvelous restoration on that engine? The only flaw on that Jagpanther is the left exhaust pipe as it was only installed on the Panther A! A curious mistake! Anyway I would love to drive around that beast! God job!

      Paolo Viti The two ladies from Koblenz (Ute/Jagdpanther 234 and Ulrike/Panther 801) have very late model Maybach HL230 not the HL210 of the very early model Bovington Tiger. They have been in "active duty" during the development of the Leopard 1 and the "KaJaPa" so they got some more maintenance and the "best available" spares. They also had the benefit of being always "active" or "stored in reserve" and so their general state was always very good, basically they are not restaurations but well maintained oldtimersIn the case of 801 she is a "Ausf. G Too late" (build from existing parts for the british army post Mai 1945) so she is likely the best preserved Panther anyway

    • @paoloviti6156
      @paoloviti6156 9 лет назад +1

      Michael Brinkhues thanks for the info! It makes sense! Yes I know very well that two "ladies" has the later Maybach HL230 whilst the Bovington Tiger has the first series HL210 and that the 810 was built from existing parts together with, if I'm not wrong, other 4 Panthers! Nevertheless I think that they did a hell of a good job!

The WTS in Koblenz has some nice vids (sadly not for sale :( but if you go there you can watch them in the museeum) that show Ute and a KaJaPa together on the range.
