This is an elegant technique. Your end result is nice and crisp, not overdone. That might be because this is not your first time. And I appreciate very much that you talk with a normal voice.
Thank you - for this tutorial and for the Dodge & Burn tutorial. Very helpful. Contrary to other responses I was grateful you did not speed the video up so I could see precisely what level of detail you applied.
Thank you. A sped up video is not very conducive to learning. I know from watching other people's which is why I made my own. I found it hard to learn from them. I'm glad you liked it. :)
I've seen several RUclips videos about Frequency Separation that use different retouching techniques and I like your way better by far. So many of the others looked much too over-retouched... cartoonish. You mention here several times to not overdo it. I think that is the key to a good end result. Thank you for the great tutorial!
I’ve been out of the loop for some time, now and just got back into it, recently. I learned off this very video and boy am I glad it is still available…. thank you for not removing or deleting this video!!!
Well done, Elana. I learned a lot. I found your tutorial because a stumbled upon a job that said, "...if you don't even know what frequency separation is don't apply..." With your help now I have an upper hand on getting jobs like this. Thank you!
I watched the phlearn one. This is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better. Also she actually does the image so I was editing along in the background to her technique. Super relaxing, especially with a pint of Guiness in tow
Hands down best retouching video. I've been in advertising for three years and skin retouching is a pain in the ass, but this video has sped up my method by 1000000% Thank you for sharing your technique! #grateful
I've watch a lot of videos on Frequency Separation and you are the first person i finally understood what its for and your video was extremely helpful.... thank you so much
Thank you for sharing! I think one of the best I found so far, it's interesting and not too much, and yes compliment for voice over, not adding ultra bored explanations or terrible music.
Hi Elena. Your are a master in so many ways. I am able to clearly understand what frequency separation does and how it works thanks to your video. Amazing how you translated/recorded a difficult process into something so easy and clear for newbies like myself to understand. Thank you so much for sharing your insight, knowledge, and tips! New fan and follower!
Your explanation are very easy to follow and I like your pace. Thanks. I've followed others FS tutorials but yours is my fave. This retired teacher rates you as: Excellent teaching skills.
Preventing plastic skin and keeping it subtle is well done. These days I leave the blemishes in as I'm not looking for perfection but your methods are good for highlight blowouts as well.
Wonderful tutorial, Elena. I, for one, am grateful you did not do any parts of it in fast motion. Your careful, thorough walk-through of the steps helped me where a fast motion presentation would not have as much. Please keep them coming because you have fantastic teaching skills! :)
Hi Elena. Thank you very much for the 2 tutorials on Dogde & Burn + Frequency separation. This will defenately improve my postprocessing even though it will take a little longer than a "plugin" solution.
Thank you for explaining this SO simple :D I have just understood what this was all about now. I ended up doing some "extra" from another homemade technique. WOW it made it a lot easier to remove whiteheads in the skin. Thanks a lot :)
coming from film this is what I'm looking for. I have always put off doing this because I like the natural look. I can now do something that's dose not look overdone and fake. Thank you for the tutorial.
Thank you, this helped a lot ! I suggest recording all the preparation in an action in photoshop. Duplicate layer, apply layer, etc, it will save a lot of time !
Great video Elena. That really helped me with some issues I've been having with doing frequency separation using a somewhat different approach. Thanks for sharing.
I guess everybody who watched the CreativeLive workshop came looking for this technique. Thanks for sharing! or should I say hvala :D Pozdrav iz Zagreba
