5 star video, wife was worried I might flood the lounge, but after watching your video it took me about 1 min to do it. Wife happy and no flooded lounge. A+ tip about not trying to pull the pin out ✔✔✔✔ Thanks
Saw another video saying pull the pin .. thank goodness I saw this also
Thank you so much! You've explained everything so well and I could do it without any plumbing experience at all
A very clear explanation, generously shared. Fixed in two minutes! Thank you
After 2 days of struggle, I was finally able to fix the radiator after watching this video, in less than 2 minutes. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. A thousand likes to this one.
Thank you. Our kitchen radiator stopped working, all others work so I troubleshooted to point of assuming it was the thermostat valve and your video was perfect. Sorted by time video ran through. Tyvm.
Really clear and helpful, thank you. Hoping to find a video from you about how to loosen the inlet valve at the other end of a radiator that’s been cold when others are hot (it’s been bled, so not air in system).
Absolutely spot on this. I thought my cold rad would be needing a fitter. Nope! A couple of taps to the connector and it started working again. Bravo 👏🏻 thank you
Thank you so much, the plunger pin under the thermostat was indeed stuck down, and with your clear instructions, I managed to release it within a couple of minutes. Radiator now lovely and hot.
Excellent!! That has saved me a load of work . . .I followed the video and it worked after 3 or 4 firm taps with the wrench. Many thanks for posting this video 👍
Man. You are amazing. I did it and it worked. I wish I had watched it last night and not to suffer the cold. Thanks again.
Thanks for this. Worked a treat. I didn't know about leaving the rad valve in the highest setting in the summer. We'd previously always left them on the frost setting.
AMAZING!! Thank you so much!! The radiator in my work room has been off all winter, and I've been using rubbish little electric heaters for about 4 months now! I didn't dare call out a plumber because I simply couldn't afford to pay a huge repair bill! But thanks to you I fixed it myself in literally 5 minutes! Thank you again, I really do appreciate you sharing your knowledge like this!🙂
You're welcome that's so nice to hear
Wish I had seen this a few years ago but now my kitchen is finally warm thank you!
Thank you, following your simple & clear instructions worked a treat!
Thanks for this was able to find the problem with the thermostat it was bent inside it making it stuck in the off position, all I need to do is get a new one
Perfectly clear and straightforward, thank you so much! Two little-used radiators were jammed off this winter, both fixed by this granny in no time despite having no experience whatsoever with DIY! Must remember to leave all rad valves on come summer ...
This is what I just did...I turn heating off in summer , come winter the bloody things wouldn't heat up so I bled them and doh , lost all pressure in radiators.
I did exactly as instructed, and everything now works as it should. Many thanks indeed!
was all ready to go and replace the entire thing but this fixed it ! saved me a lot of mess and some money thank you very much!
So simple and straightforward! Thank you!
Thank you so much! I only just had someone out to replace the pump in my boiler, was dreading having to go again for the radiator, but this fixed it perfectly! And for my bit of metal I just used a table knife, in case anyone doesn't have tools!
My former boss once used a butter knife to skin wires on a furnace control. He was an absolute hacker.
Fixed my rad that wasn't working for 3 years. :D Thank you!
You literally just saved me calling someone out! Thank you so much! It’s been freezing In our room as winter approaches!
Fixed my radiator within 5 minutes. Thank you so much for making this video!
Just used your advice and it worked! Thank you !
Very informative video giving a home owner a simple way of freeing a sticking RAD valve.
It explores all the snags and faults a competent DIY'er might encounter.
Just moved into my 1st home and after having a new boiler fitted (in hindsight prob didn’t need a new boiler but plumbing company pressured me into it. Anyway after a week one of my radiators still wouldn’t turn on; been chasing them to return and fix it only to be fobbed off! Last straw this morning was being advised it’s possibly the valve pin and a call-out charge will be £85+ VAT. I quickly searched this and thankfully came across this video. OMG am I forever indented to, I managed to do this following your advise to the T in a mere minute with my radiator now working!😊
Thank you so much for your invaluable informative video, your calm way of explaining this to novices like myself is most helpful. Can’t thank you enough for saving me in excess of £100 I simply could not afford to pay out. All the best. Pam, Bedfordshire x
A little patience and perseverance needed but it worked perfectly. Clear and easy to understand. Saved a potentially expensive call-out charge for what was such a simple to solve issue. A huge thank you for posting.
Great help, thank you.
Had been around and bled all the rads but couldn’t work out why the spare room one wouldn’t warm up (had been turned right down over summer).
The tapping on the side of the valve to release the pin fixed it a treat.
You’ve just saved me the call-out cost of a plumber. Thank you.
Nice one, this worked a treat on my living room radiator. Couldn't figure out why all my other radiators were on bar one. screwed off the thermostat gave it a whack with my adjustable spanner and pumped the pin a while, room now toasty.
Thank you. This was third/fourth video I watched and the only one to solve the problem (stuck pin. pulled it out with some pliers and hey. presto!). Really appreciate the video. You've made my life better in a small way.
Thank you. Some nutters on you tube suggest to grap and pull the pin which i blindly followed luckily it didn't leak. You first step helped me.
Thank you again.
Oh my word I've been struggling with just one radiator not coming on, found your video and ta darrrr it's fixed. Thank you for brilliant instructions, much appreciated 👍
Very Helpful, Happened to me a couple of years ago, I did pull the pin, the water was hot
and was like a jet, burning hot, manged to push it in and get the top back on. has worked
since.Having clonked it a couple of times
after the event.
Thank you so much. My temperature valve came out accidentally when I was changing the temperature as it was too hot and i didn't know how to put it back on so it helped me to put it back on. Cheers!
Brilliant!! Thank you so much. Completely fixed purely due to this video. Top man
just followed your advice, fixed my radiator in no time at all, brilliant, thank you.
used your method worked a treat! many thanks
This worked perfectly! Thank you 🙂
Amazing - I was able to fix 7 radiators in under 15 minutes !! My house temperature should become a lot easier to control now! Thanks 🙏
Well explained, I watched this video, got my water pump pliers and fixed it in a couple of minutes. Thank you!
Absolutely smashing!
Videos like this are why RUclips is amazing. Thank you
And people like him who upload videos like this
Thank you!!! Very clear step-by-step instructions which I have just followed and saved a hundred quid or so call out for a heating engineer. Valve now working and hot water flowing happily through the radiator!
Thank you for this, fixed my cold radiator exactly as you said. Definitely saved me a few quid to call out a repairman!
Thank you - extremely helpful
Excellent advice. Sorted out my radiator in less time than it took to watch this video. Thank you.
You're welcome!
Renting my first house since August, been cold for the past week till now! Haha thanks man
Thanks had a rad that would not come on unless therm cap top was off. Used 3 methods.. pushed pin down...tapped body with adjustable..turned pin slightly...RESULT...cap put back on and working fine.
Good clear video...
Excellent guidance . Many thanks .
I was a bit nervous of taking the valve top off, but having looked at the video everything worked out fine. Thankyou
Amazing, thank you, this is why I love RUclips sometimes. Fixed my radiator in a few minutes. I was doubtful about tapping against the pipe, but first tap and boom! that thing came popping right back up.
Fantastic, its works! thank you very much!
very helpful - thanks for posting
This just got my radiator working again that I've not been able to solve for a year! THANK YOU!
It worked 👍brilliant and clear instructions thanks
Best advice on youtube Absolutely spot on . Solved my problem . Thanks
Thanks so much, mate. This helped me get 2 cold rads in the house up and working in 5 minutes
Thanks for this - my valve head was so loose I didn't need pliers and as soon as I took it off the radiator got hot. I didn't bother putting it back - 1 less thing to go wrong.
This worked for me fixing my radiator - I live alone and this was a god send!! Thank you 🙏
You're welcome!
Thank you, very useful :)
Tapped pin with screwdriver, worked a treat now warm as toast, thank you 👍😎
Thanks for the clear and simple explanation. In my case, I just pushed down on the pin with a piece of metal and it freed immediately. That was good as I didn't fancy banging it for fear of starting a leak.
You played a great role in my life. I fixed it. Thank you.
So glad I came across this video when the radiator in our bedroom stopped working, thanks for the clear instructions!
Many thanks. Crystal clear. Zero cost. What's not to like?!
Very clear. Thank you.
hot Thanks to your video a rad. that hasn't worked for years is now hot AND as a side-effect , all the rad.s are hot as never before in living memory. I'm sooooo grateful to you !
Thanxs. Worked a treat. 👍
Just solved my problem with 2 rads. Thank you. Saved me an unneccessary call out!
So simple, what a great help! My room is no longer an ice-box. 😂 Thank you! 👍🙏
Thanks mate. I had to use a different method in the end, ie lube the bad boy with WD40 and pull up and down with pliers.. and even when up, needed repeated ups/downs to get it back to its former bouncy self. But the knowledge of what was even Required came from here! Thanks, finally have a warm bedroom in new house late Nov 🇬🇧
Fantastic. My radiator is working now. Very clear explanation. Thanks.
Just wanted to say, thank you so much for this video. You are a star!
Thanks a million no mess and no fuss :-)
Nice and clear and very helpful, thank you!
Clear and succinct explanation. Tapped the valve 4/5 times and that did the trick. Then depressed the pin a few times. Simple. Thanks.
Thanks George
Brilliant! Thank you. Patience, patience. Just kept tapping and pressing. It works again.😊
Fixed radiator easily thanks to the clear guidance in this video. Very happy as no need to call out plumber.
Thank you easy to follow and room warm again! 😊
Yay! With the aid of a bit of wd40 and this method, my stuck TRV pin loosened and now happily opens and closes under its spring loaded pressure. Against the advice of the video I did VERY GENTLY pull the pin up with the aid of pliers, which was originally stuck in the closed position, but only after application of wd40 to the base of the pin and a few sharp taps to the valve body below the thread. I was then able to press the pin down again with the flat back surface of the pliers, and after repeating the process a few times, the spring loaded action kicked in and I was able to see the pin closing and opening again under the application of pressure Thanks very much for the video!
Hello, I am learning how this part works. Does the TRV control the up and down of the pin which adjusts the radiator temperature? Thanks a lot.
Thank you so much. Very clear and fixed the problem straight away. 👍
I was about to call a professional to fix my radiator but gave your advice a go and hey presto! It works again! So, thank you so much for this video.
Great to hear!
This is the best vid on this problem I've found. Thank you so much.
Thank you! Saved me a good hassle!
Nice clear tutorial. Sorted my stuck valve out in less than a minute. Thank you so much!
Yesss, this sorted my cold radiator , and its so easy peasy, thanks for the clip👍🏻👍🏻
Many thanks - problem solved thanks to your excellent video. Well done.
Great video and great tips ☺
Brilliant. Thank you for this.
been in this flat since October and it's managed by the landlady which means it isnt feckin' managed. haven't been able to get any heat anywhere in the flat except lounge. Checked all the TRVs. every single one was stuck down. For the first time in 3 months we have real heating!! thank you, now all i need to do is replace the thermostat so we can accurately put on the heating :/ the dial is completely loose so we dont know where its actually set to so we just crank it left for off and all the way right for on
Thank you so much. Clear instructions and I have just fixed my radiator with pliers and a butter knife - in true single woman style. However, I could only attempt because of your tutorial. Thank you for warming my home and building my confidence
Awesome! Tried pressing down on the pin, instant success. Thanks so much.
Very knowledgeable and useful video. I was just about to pull the pin out when I watched this .
I tried the pin is good am thinking the seal in valve may of gone. As I swapped top with another that worked and still no job
This is truly excellent. Lots of good advice. Will be leaving thermostats on full next summer to avoid future stuck pins. Thank you
Thanks a lot for nice video. All house radiators were working except one, I assuming the valve got jammed. By following your video I can release the valve and now it is working back. Thank again.
My poor neighbors thinking i have gone nuts banging on radiators like crazy. Didnt work. Gonna have to buy new one 😂
It doesn't always work and depends on condition of valve. Replacing the valve means a system drain down and this will cost a lot of money if you have to call in a plumber to do.
Sounds like replacing the valve is the option you are faced with
That is one of most useful video that I've seen. Many Thanks
Just fixed a radiator valve following your instructions. Thanks
