    Thank you to Dave N. for giving us such great stories and sharing his experiences. I was delighted he was so open and honest with all he talked about it. I really hope he it helped him as much as it helped me, and all of us. It would be really cool if he decides to come back again in the future. Thanks to Jack, Dave P. and D for always bringing the good stuff.

    I remember the story of a David and the others walking. For context, The Cavalry wore the Black Beret in Vietnam and into the 70’s. Shinseki was among them. For as much hate as he got for this decision, he had paid his dues as a Soldier. Horribly wounded in Vietnam on 2 tours, including losing most of his foot on the 2nd tour and lots of hospital recovery time.101st Airborne wore Blue Berets in the 70’s as well. There were even some Brownish Berets in Alaska as well. 3 months after the army went to Black and Rangers went to Tan 9/11 happened. The whole thing kind of got lost as the war kicked off. A whole generation plus of Rangers are in the Tan and have no memories of the Black Beret for the Regiment. Switching the Army to the Beret was a dumb decision in the end.

    • @lowrydan111
      @lowrydan111 2 месяца назад

      It was dumb. I served 94-02 and went through the whole thing. Reg Army was embarrassed when they forced us to don black berets. We knew it was earned, and we did not earn it.

    Leg infantry did still shave and shape their berets. We didn’t like the beret and thought it was bullshit. But, we were required to wear it so we still tried to wear it properly and have it look good. Support elements… definitely a mixed bag on beret appearance.

      I was in from 2008-2014 4th Brigade 10th Mountain…we wore berets when I came in. We left for deployment to Afghanistan in October 2010, and when we came home in October 2011 the Army had switched to wearing the PC for daily use and Beret for when I dress uniform or other important formations where instructed to wear one. I was totally cool with that. The Beret is super hot on your head in the middle of Louisiana summer…we were all pretty happy to make the switch 😂

    I was confused & ashamed when they told us we could wear the black beret, and I hated it because I didn't earn it.
    And no thanks to the VA, but I would've eaten a bullet if it wasn't for some older guys who convinced me to reach out to my brothers, who I hadn't talked to in almost twenty years. Not staying in contact with them was one of the biggest mistakes of my life & it nearly cost me mine.
    Meanwhile the VA is just as useless as they were before, and I've gotten the distinct impression on many occasions that they still want us to die sooner rather than later; they've only gotten better at hiding it.

      I have to say, I feel for everyone that isn't getting proper care through the VA. I'm spoiled... My local VA has been exceptional, except for behavioral health. I expressed that I was exhausted from my day to day, family life, and that I have quite a few guys that reach out regularly. Some reach out at odd hours to talk about their demons. I do what I can to help them. I swear to you on my family, the VA therapist told me to stop answering those late-night calls from my buddies. I've not been back to the VA for BH since.

    It seems to be the same all over the world the military is brilliant at coming up with weird and unusual punishments.😂 i am ex British army and i have experienced a few of them such as digging a fire support trench with a mess tin and spoon or standing outside the gaurdroom with a 105 shell over your head another was the provo sergeant would keep 3 sandbags in the gaurdroom all filled to different weights with sand they were called mummy,daddy,and baby sandbag i estimate daddys weight was around 20kg mummy was 15kg and baby was 10kg you would be made to stand an arms length from a wall facing away from it you then had to squat until your back is touching the wall so your in a seated position you then had to extend your arms out infront of you with the sandbag and trust me a minute in this position you start shaking like an earthquake just hit, your arms and thighs are on fire after that 😂😂😂😂

Looks like captain crunch 😂 now if a beret is properly shaped and shaved they can look incredible…but conversely they can look absolutely terrible if you got some jack wagon who can’t properly see one up.

I want to offer an an idea for single moms and thier violent teens. I think what should be created for them is the FEMA COMMUNITY COMPLEX. This idea could be funded by money that's already been allocated to Juvinile detention, DSS and FEMA. Also , why aren't private prison companies moving our prisons to places like Cuba, Puerto Rico or Alaska? Isn't it finally time to finally start moving our prisons off of the continent?
