Piracy isn't only a thing with Anime.
There's piracy for games, movies, TV shows, even books.
The only reason why piracy is such a big deal when it comes to anime, is simply because... the legal alternatives aren't good.
I mean just think about this for second: illegal pirating sites have the same features, sometimes even more, we know that. But... remember... those sites are run by one or two people.
Crunchyroll is genuine "company", they have millions to their name.
You might ask, why is piracy not a massive deal for TV Shows? Well, I'll give one example: Netflix added a Skip Intro button in 2017. Crunchyroll added it in 2022. How on earth did it take them 5 years? There was literally a chrome extension made in 2021 to add the skip button to crunchyroll for them. That's how long it took. Imagine having such terrible service that your customers have to do your job for you? Like literally, imagine, going to a restaurant, sending your order, but your order doesn't come, so you go to the kitchen, cook the meal yourself, serve it to yourself, and then eat. That's what happens in Crunchyroll's restaurant.
And that's just one feature. Crunchyroll is just so behind...
If you want to stop piracy, then make a genuinely good service such that people don't have to feel like piracy is the "ideal" way to watch the content.
But why isn't their other legal sites? Because Crunchyroll is a monopoly.
