nice info dear =)
I want CPDS, but never could find any. I think they look alittle like brook trout. If you try something new how about rummy nose tetra. I have them and love them. Great schooler. Thanks for another great video!!!🌟💖😊
@@wyomingadventures I saw an amazing high tech tank with rummy nose tetras and they were stunning!
Insightful !!
I have tetras that just stand still for most of time besides when being chased or when they want to chase another tetra. The CPD seem to actively moving around. So, I'm not sure what your expectations are regarding a fish being boring or not. Do you expecting them foraging for food in the gravel or on the plants or chasing each other or fighting each other?
I love them because they remind me of baby brooke trout
Never even thought of that, that’s so trueee
That is EXACTLY why I picked them--lil' brookies on a fly=heaven.
100% me too.
Exactly!
You do the best job at covering fish and keep it to the point and simple keep up the hard work
Thank you so much!
I think if they could somehow breed/modify CPD's to be slightly bigger say like a Molly they would be one of the most popular aquarium fish. Their coloring and markings are beautiful but you really have to look at them closely to appreciate them.
I love them!
They are in a 50L tank with my beta Ozzy. There were originally 6 but the males are frisky and females loose so... I've got 3 young ones :-)
They are not in the slightest shy for me. Casually exploring all corners of the tank. They never take food from the bottom and rarely from the top. Just waiting for whatever is coming to start slowly sinking and then - action time.
They are waaay too fast for my aging beta and I'm very glad I added them into that tank, they make for great viewing.
I was surprised by your meh rating because by the end of the vid I was hooked! So cute!
The high PH didnt let the fish color up nicely. Sorry but sometimes the "internet" is fkng right.
Thank you for your "review" of CPDs. This information will help me as I decide what to get for my new tank.
For sure! It's something I always want to know - is it a fish worth keeping? :)
I love these fish. Their not shy at all, I guess cause I have 9 of them. Their very active. They do shoal but also do their own thing. Practically all over the tank. They do love plants always cutting through my plants, wood and rocks. I don’t find them boring at all. Great fish to keep very peaceful. They did nip at some shrimp when I first got them but after the first day I haven’t notice any nipping.
i love these and plan on getting a school for my 100 G the schooling fish i recommend is one of my all time favs ..the white cloud super easy in all respects
I just got three this last week. I saw them and got so intrigued.
Absolutely love this fish! It’s one I’d like to own in the future. Your tank is beautiful! Great information, thanks for sharing.
I hope you do get to keep em' !
These are my favorite fish 😍 so playful and social!
I love your tank! I tried some floating veg in mine, but they get submerged and caught in the intake with the type of filter I have. Looks like you've contained yours in a floating ring! brilliant.
Which type of filter are you running? I have lots of dwarf water lettuce, and it stays wherever I put it with a sponge filter running.
You should get some Emerald dwarf Rasbora! Cousins of the CPDs and are just as good looking!
They are fragile at first; acclimation is everything for them. I have a heavily planted tank and they do really well there, even with chasing and territory fighting. I do not know how they can get boring, though - they are so inquisitive and cute, always messing around my britslenose or ''fighting'' with neocardinas. So much to observe!
I like them as they can live in temps as low as 18 Celsius or about 62-64 Fahrenheit but I'm not too good with Fahrenheit I work with Celsius. Which this low temp means I don't need a heater as my water rarely drops below 20celscius any way.
Like you, I'm running a community tank (20 gallon long) without a heater; I just set it up a few weeks ago after giving away goldfish that got way too big for the aquarium. Galaxy danios are at the top of my wish list because of their colour and low temperature tolerance. Several pet shops in my area claim to have them coming in, but so far, no one has them. If I can't get them, my alternative would be green tiger barbs. I presently have 6 (all male) cool water platys, 6 black neons and a hillstream loach.
Very informative video, thank you for this.
My cpd is not shy at all, come out to me all the time telling me they are hungry and give them the damn food now
And they like the water flow too, like to play with the flow of my hob filter
Lol, mine too!
First stock i brought both males simply hang out at the top and practically didn't move. I could tell something wasn't right. They didn't survive. Added more from elsewhere and have 9 on last count. They are not shy in my 15uk gallon planted tank along with shrimp. I wouldn't trust them with shimplets at all.
They will breed without intervention but babies will be picked off.
They show aggression among themselves with nipping. Once settled they are a hardy fish who are active compared to a lot of species.
Wish i went for Norman's Lampeye now after a few months of having them.

I'm not surprised there's a little fin-nipping: they're danios, and every danio species I've ever kept loves to chase each other. Not surprised these do, even if they're not as "caffeinated" as zebra danios. For a next fish, I think a shoal of kubotai rasboras would be lovely.
Haha, they're my first danio species, so I had no idea about the chasing. Oh man, kubotai rasboras would be awesome!
So thankful I found your video. I’ve been researching them for weeks now… going back and forth. Your video helped a TON! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks. I was looking at these but decided on furcata rainbow fish. Really like them!
I'm so jealous of how visible those kuhli loaches are. I've got 8 in my tank and they make it their mission to never been seen. They're usually successful.
I agree with your cpd review. I had cpd and they were shy and hung around the plants. I replaced then with zebra danio. They are quick and always seem to be on the move.
I only have one in my community tank. I had her for 4 months now. She was free and I have grown to like her because of her funny, energetic behaviour.
Awww, how cute!
started with 9 in a 10 gallon tank and they are the worst fish ive had in this scenario for the following reasons:
1. too shy... there is plenty of cover and they hide relentlessly, if i walk within 6 feet of the tank they scram and hide so i never get to see them unless i sit perfectly still for 10 minutes
2. i added some tiger endlers (to replace the CPD's that passed away, RIP) and they now come out more but i have to stay at least 6 feet away or they run.. i feel bad because they run so hard ive seen a couple run into the glass trying to hide
3. i agree they are boring, the endlers are super fun on the other hand
4. my guys have always been picky, bug bites id watch them spit it out so i stopped feeding it, dont like NLS thera micro pellet much either, like you said they do love frozen daphnia and baby brine and bloodworms if small enough to eat, the only dry food mine consistently eat is hikari micro pellets
i suspect 10 gallons is too small for these guys and they probably do better in 20 long or 29+ like you experienced, they are very pretty but after just over a year I lost about half of them and dont plan on getting anymore unless I have a huge 40+ gallon and i want lots of variety in the community.
thanks for the video as always great job!
I love the insights you offered! Endlers are definitely on my bucket list of fish to try; I've heard they've got a lot of personality. :)
Girl you answered my question in the 1st :30 second’s (celestial pearl danio vs galaxy rasbora) TY👍
Lambchop Rasbora would be good to try next. Smaller & more colourful than Harlequin. Peaceful & supposed to be good schoolers.
They sound lovely! I bet the orange would really stand out against the green too.
That’s exactly what I was gonna ask for next. 🤣
My CPD was definitely not shy after a few weeks. I think it's got to do with the number of plants. My batch was definitely more sensitive to changes.
Good to know!
Maybe they’re popular among aquascapers because they don’t distract from the scape, but they have just enough accent colors on their fins to be somewhat interesting? Anyway cool vid. I’ve never heard of these fish before.
Don’t know about the hype but I love them!
Tank setup looks lovely!
Trying to breed some, 🤞🤞
Ooo best of luck to ya!
I’ve never had these before, but I’m looking to rescape my 29g with CPDs and Harlequin Rasboras.
That’s literally my 29 gallon. I over filter and heavily plant mine and have harlequin rasboras, ember tetras( which I also love), cherry shrimp, Amano shrimp, and the CPDs. It’s quite the site and I’m obsessed. My parents bought me the Fluval 3.0 light for my birthday and it will be here Sunday. I can’t freaking wait. Good luck to you and your tank!
Mine actually has a lot of personality. I love them!!!
My opinion is that not having a big fish makes them more Aggressive to one another. I’m sure if you add a big fish they will school more. Love Danios. They’re always moving and chasing.
Woah my dad always love that fish it’s very cute
These are great and we have been thinking about getting some....We like the galaxy name the most....danios in general are just easy and awesome fish to have and they always do well with floating foods....👍
Mine are fairly shy - and the ones I initially picked up were pretty weak and I lost quite a lot of them (which refers back to your comment about picking good stock). I also found some emerald rasboras that have amazing markings but are even MORE shy. So I gave up and got endlers haha
Great video and information 👍 Notification Squad 🔥 I was thinking about getting some of those lol 😂
Yay, thanks for joining the notification squad! Glad you enjoyed the video. :)
@@GirlTalksFish
Welcome anytime 😊
I find them really interesting. The chasing, the circling, their whole behavior along with their compatibility with other fish like Guppy make them a perfect match for me.
@@mattes5403
Yeah definitely lol 👍
2:33 - she did the creep.. ahhh.....🤣
Runmies school well and have a lot of character. Pretty hardy and friendly with others
I just saw someone's high tech planted tank full of rummies and they were amazing! I love their tight schooling behavior.
Can you do a species spotlight on the Bamboo Shrimp.
Ooo, I've never kept them before, but if I do one day, I'll be sure to add them to the list. :)
I have this set up right now (CPD’s and peacock gudgeon) and it’s the peacock gudgeon that is doing all the fin nipping, he creeps around at night. He is being re homed.
If you’re giving those cpd’s away i’ll gladly take them😂 i love these little guys
Lol, I've gotta catch them first!
Thank You So Much for the Useful Information! 🌷🌿🌍💗🕊
Try the glow light danio, you may enjoy them more!
Beautiful scaped fish tank nice fish too thank you for sharing!
I have 5 cpds and yes they are shy but their tank mates are : 5 neon tetras 2 phantom tetras and some RCS in a planted 10g..everyone is happy 🐠
I would try scarlet baddies my lfs sold out so I will try these next !!
They are beautiful fish. Seems pretty popular in the hobby. One of my favorite and under rated fish are my golden white cloud Minnows. Beautiful fish and very peaceful.
Ooo, I totally want to keep them in a coldwater tank. The long-finned variety looks gorgeous!
my danio become a shark... all tetra killed... and he is a KING now...
hope i have a king with this Diamond..
Try silver tip tetras. They are so cute when they dance and follow your finger. Tho get 10+ because they really dont feel that much in smaller group. I had 11 but 3 poofed so now Im about to get at least 10 more to add to my 30gal
They look so active and cool! Thanks for the suggestion. :)
I’ve had the same experience, I found mine chase each other a bit and aren’t terribly shy. I actually love mine a lot!
Oh good! I'm glad I'm not the only one who's had such a lovely experience with them. Are you doing anything special in your tank that has minimized their shyness?
I planted fairly heavily, but my most shy fish are actually my corydora catfish.
I heard they are more aggressive if you have too many males, but they only seem to bother each other.
It seems less of a problem now that my plants are growing in more. They don’t ever bother any of my other fish (corydora’s and cardinal tetras)
@@laurafedora5385 What kind of corys do you have? I heard there were shyer species, so now I'm kinda curious. :)
Sterbai’s 🙂
New here i just got them only 3 at the moment and kuhli loaches in a 29 planted so far so good.
Threadfin rainbows or forktail rainbows both great for a small tank!
I love pseudomugil rainbowfish! What a great idea. :)
Can cherry shrimp breed with an Amono shrimp in the tank
Yes, I think so. The amano shrimp are just more aggressive eaters, so they may steal most of the food if given the opportunity. Not sure if they'll eat baby shrimp so you may have to look into that.
you should try leopard or kyiathi danios
I have them along with male endlers. The endlers are far superior. Agree about not being shy.
You are absolutely right about what you say. I wouldn't have them again.
Find me a better nano fish then endlers. To me they are the king of nano fish
That's awesome to hear! I'm really, really tempted now...
This is so helpful! Thank you. Can you do a review of cherry barbs?
My 3 are are little gangstas. They chase off my endler when he annoys them lol
These babies are beautiful
Yes, I love their little leopard spots. ;)
I love this tank
Great perspective. Thanks for your insight!!
Anybody keeping CPD's with Dwarf Chain Loaches? I'm considering quarantining 8 of each in a planted 40 breeder. Wondering if they'll stress each other out.
I really want to have a school of CPD. I went to the largest fish store of my region and they only have 4 left. I bought them despite the fact that they are tiny, like less than a centimeter and the day after, there were only 2 left and the second day, there were non left. I assume they got eaten. I cannot believe it. I only have glow tetras, a clown loach and Siamese algae eater and Otocinclus. No ciclid, not aggressive fish. I checked the floor to make sure they did not jump out.
Clown loaches and Siamese algae eaters are both capable of eating small fish. They might stand a chance at a bigger size but my SAE polished off full grown neon tetras. I would recommend a tank with just amano shrimp for algae and you won't have any problems.
Thanks for the information. It is helpful for us who are planning a tank.
I'm so glad to hear that!
@@GirlTalksFish It has been so enjoyable to watch my son set up his first tank at college. His Mom is not a "pet person." So with his new freedom, he has researched for over a year, and prepared for his first aquarium. Your presentations and others have been helpful. Thanks for encouraging youth to enjoy this hobby and nature. Jim
@@jamesgreen9372 Oh my goodness, what a sweet story! I hope my son one day does the same. :)
I would get Cardinal Tetras next, I think they would look cool in that tank
That's true! The red and blue would be so striking among all that greenery.
My CPDs are not shy at all, species tank and they NEVER hide even when the cat is bapping the tank trying to go fishing.
I found a lot of CPDs have wasting, if the stock at a store has shrunken or hollow looking bellies you should probably either not buy them or immediately consider treating for wasting.
Please make video type-type betta fish tank
My CPD's are super shy and not very hardy at all. I sort of wish I hadn't purchased them. I'll keep trying to keep the survivors healthy and comfortable, but I'm not optimistic about their potential to thrive in my tanks.
Great video. Loving mine so far
Wow amazing fish!
Great review!
I want to breed half beak fishes because of their very peaceful temperament..so please make a video about this fish
Ooo they look very cool. If I ever keep them, I will!
Good care guide! U could do one about otocinclus?
Next i think you could try lampchop rasboras
Ooo, lampchop rasboras are especially orange too. Thanks for the suggestion, and yes I have an oto catfish video in the works. ;)
@@GirlTalksFish
Just wanted to say that my cories are laying eggs at the moment😁
@@s.d.k874 Congratulations!! That's amazing. 🎉😊👍
I have been intrigued by them too
I just got 6 of them and they’ve been chasing each other around with the males chasing both other males and females. They seem okay but I’m not sure if I should be concerned they’ll be too stressed
The more people I've talked to, it seems like it's perfectly normal behavior. It is pretty interesting watching them do their little "circle dances", but yeah, sometimes it does result in some nipped fins.
They are just fish with adhd. They’ll likely stress you out more than they stress out each other. Lol
@@GirlTalksFish can I do a group of them in a 2.5
If so how many?
@@SK-sq5bk nothing should live in a 2.5 gallon tank. Id say you could maybe do 2 females and 1 male in a 5 gallon tank, but 2.5 is really small for any fish.
I really like the black Phantom Tetras.
I just love watching the males fold out their fins and "dance" to show off.
Ooo, I've never tried them before but I think I've seen them in my local pet store a lot. Thanks for the idea. :)
@@GirlTalksFish Yeah, they should be quite common. It was my pleasure :O)
Can I put these with neon tetras and a betta?
Does all Danios is super hyper active darting almost 24 hours? I have zebra pink danio. My cherry shrimp always stressed out
This is a great video thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
Cool. Love the fish.
ik this is late but maybe try zebra danios or leopard danios
Would these be good with a mystery snail as a tank mate?
What is that pink plant in the tank????
Would they work in a betta tank?
haha give them away to me lol but do try pea puffers those guys are great
Oh, I love pea puffers! I had one a while ago and she was my favorite. :)
I might get some of those for my 75g
Do it! They're cute little fish and I'm glad I tried them.
A Gamer's Wife alright
A Gamer's Wife I don’t like how they dart around though.
They're super hard to find where I live so my two remaining are a bit lonely in their old age. Beautiful fish though.
Mine aren't shy and for some reason I have one that's totally playa alpha and classes others also seem to school could be because the beta though lol and two of mine vanished but still have 4
Ooo, do you do anything special so that they won't be as shy? I'm curious what the secret is since I didn't do anything special.
@@GirlTalksFish not really however I don't buy them unless they have a little bit of size on them. Also I'm thinking my beta keeps them moving / on edge lol
@@DankDaHerbalist Lol!
I will take them
love your vids
Thank you so much!
Hey I have 8 Galaxy rasbora in tank But they are not In Same Colour which shown In Video But i am sure they are galaxy rasbora How Much Time They take To Colour
ROHAN KHARADE Mine colored up when they were 6 months old. No stress, many plants to hide, light not too bright, place to swim and livefood.
It's so hard to find this specific type of Danio, where did you get yours?
Check your local fish shops
Can I keep danios with them?
what did you end up getting?
Try green kubotai pls.. 😊
Oh, that's a good idea! They've been on my fish keeping bucket list and look absolutely stunning
I want those SO much! Have been in the process of rescaping my tanks - switching over to planted tanks with aquasoil. I have the kubotai in mind for the tank that will be the last in the line. Hope I can get my hands on some when I'm ready! And trying to figure out what I want to keep with them...
what type of substrate is in your tank?
also 2:34 AW MAN
Lol, yessss! Someone got my silly reference. I use generic black sand purchased from Petco/PetSmart. It's great because it's heavier and doesn't make the water cloudy whenever I do water changes.
The german name for this guys is pearl chicken danios :D don't ask me why :D very beautiful fish 💚
Lol, that's hilarious! Thanks for sharing. 🐔
Because the markings of the little fishies is similar to how the feathers of the Perlhuhn look like :)
@@lastlines09 you got it :D
I love mine!....
Same! My most recent video features them 😃
Love your videos. Nice and short straight to the point. Can you do a sequel to the CPD? How to breed them
Haha, actually they've been breeding a ton! But since I don't have a lot of thick moss and I don't remove the parents/other fish, all the babies get picked off. LRB Aquatics has a video that covers breeding though so check it out: ruclips.net/video/UPSnIpMMtHs/видео.html
in my experience CPDs will come out if they have any other fish in the tank
Oh that's good to know! Rachel O'Leary also mentioned dither fish were key for her. :)
