So, I started playing upright (3/4) over 20 years ago, Bluegrass and Jazz Swing. I have been surprised by how physical it is... in fact, it's one of the aspects I love. I have found I play much better, standing, especially when things get really "cooking". But over those same years, I've aged, and now have some arthrits in my knees... to the point I need now to sit down between songs. The days of me standing 3 or 4 hours into the night in those long distance jams are going away... and I can't hardly bear it. I'm looking for a stool recommendation that I can use that will give the right height and reach... advice please.

I have average to short legs. Most stools are to high for me and thus I have to raise my leg. Any suggestions? It was a honor meeting you at Oberlin Conservatory during Milt Hinton week last June!!!

Even when I take the endpin all the way out, the bass is just right height for me, maybe still a tiny bit too low, and it is a 4/4 bass. so I'm forced to sit, even though I'd prefer to play while standing. nice tutorial by the way

you should look up videos of the bassist Mario Pavone. He used to play a 4/4 juzek for 20 years (i bought it this past summer). He's a shorter guy and played standing.
