Your earthworm farming kit is so professional. I am also making this model for my garden. I hope that after using vermicompost, the soil quality in my garden will improve and the plants will be more lush.
For me, I have my compost bins raided by raccoons, possums, and birds after the raccoons have unlocked intricate closures and helped themselves to treats and earthworm delicacies. The are so intelligent and have little hands more dexterous than my own.
Have you tried something with carabiners? Since they don't have opposable thumbs in theory it's hard for them to open it. Also raccoons hate onion so you could rub some on it so it smells like onion
@@raquelf2866 I haven't heard of that. Thanks, I'll check it out. I don't think onions would work because I always have a lot of onion scraps. I also tried mint, but that didn't work either.

that is supposed to be a swappable layer bed. top layer would be the new bed with the fresh compost so the worms would travel to the top layer after finishing the first buttom layer. that way harvest would be easier and lest mortality for the worms
In this video, the top bin wasn't in use. It should be swappable with the middle bin. When the ANC is working in the middle bin, you have to stack the top bin with kitchen wastes. As time goes by the kitchen wastes on the top bin would decompost. Meanwhile, after eating and converting the wastes in the middle bin, the ANC will look for food to eat and they will move to the top bin. This time, you can easily harvest the vermicasts in the middle bin and, thereafter put the bin to the top ready for stacking again for a new batch of kitchen wastes. The process is repeated in this way.
The worm “blanket on top isn’t”necessary either s I’d use that on the bottom layer so the worms don’t fall Thru into the water and then just use newspaper on top (plus they can eat it and need the carbon)
@@aamirwaheed3478 You will not notice chemical compounds from the paint in plants, you must perform a laboratory test. The longer you use such a newspaper, the more harmful compounds there will be in the compost, which will penetrate into vegetables and plants.
