Tommy was right about film looking better than HD. Back in those days the digital camera used for the room mustve been 1080p while the 35mm can be scanned up to lets say 4k and it will look better.

The Polish people I've met are usually pretty proud of their heritage.

Some Polish speaking person should totally go to him in an interview and just start talking to him in polish and see what he does.
Yeah, it would be interesting to see his reaction. I'm Polish and I'm 90% sure he's Polish as well. Even some of his weird lingo seems like mangled, literal translations of Polish idioms or words - saying "I'm listening" when answering the phone, "keep your stupid comments in your pocket", or the "cheep cheep" chicken sound.

It's the opposite for me. The more I find out about him, the more questions I have. Why does he hide his identity? Did he really make his fortune selling off-price jeans? The man is a neverending source of amusement, bafflement and wonder.

Sad that I know more than they do. Tommy made millions selling bird toys, frisbees, yoyos at both Eiffel tower and San Francisco, at Eiffel tower the bird toys gave him the nickname "Bird man". Bird in french is Wiseau. It's the way he chose his Hollywood last name. He's from Poland. He made so much with toys that he bought nice properties not far from wharf in San Fran, being from Poland they are obsessed with Levi's Jeans so logically he started Levi's Jeans Street Fashions USA and became a millionaire (But the properties were/are worth millions aside from the business), he still owns one of the properties to this day, still worth millions. Great spot, walking distance from wharf, very nice spot. Met Sestero at acting class in San Fran so he tried to legitimately be an actor. He moved to Hollywood, was rejected, so he took matters into his own hands and the rest is history.
i never quite understood the placement of those stories from the book...Like clearly they are there because they are stories that Tommy told to Greg, but where in the timeline did he tell them? Because even at the very end where he is shooting the final shots in San Fran, and tommy says that greg is going to learn a lot of secrets about him, he only just learns about High Fashions. And then there is the premier of the room, and thats as close to present as we get. So did Tommy reveal that information post release of the room and then greg sprinkled it in the book? And why is tommy still revered as this secretive dude if we are assuming that story about Pierre from poland is his whole life story?

I've got to wonder how much of that bird man stuff is apocryphal, because the stories from the book sometimes contradict each other and Greg doesn't even seem to be certain of their validity.

Wait, you left out the part where he is a delusional success. He is ONLY successful because he is delusional. There is NO talent here. Unless you consider failure a talent. If the movie had been slightly good, no one would be talking about it. The ONLY reason anyone talks about it because it is SO terrible it can't help but be noticed. So if you are going to fail, you might as well fail completely. But the key ingredient you must have is to be delusional about how great it is.

I wish people wouldn't openly mock him over every tiny thing they can find. There comes a stopping point. So he bought instead of rented. He's got the money. So? he walked in on the end of a conversation where Tommy was giving out some dogtags and joked about blessing him. Laughing at what exists is fine. Trying to make it your own at someone else's expense is not. Tommy W. is a good guy.

This Sam fellow is getting on my nerves. I watched whole radio/interview that he's talking about, in this video he is dishonest, try to make himself look better or something. About the movie format that he's bragging about:
Tommy said in the same interview (radio) that they recorded witch two cameras, 30mm and 720p digital, when asked why they didn't use the 720p for blueray he stressed that converting 30mm into digital gave them BETTER RESOLUTION (better quality, less upscaling) than converting from 720p to blue ray. I don't know why this host acts so disrespectful, I guess this Sam Roberts thinks that he's some know-it-all, or something.
+Bacxaber I understand and agree that laundering money is a reason to feel uncomfortable. However, it's a rumor so I'm personally not comfortable making any comment on it or forming an opinion. There is NEVER a resin to mock a person though. It's just downright mean. Ones looks, acting abilities, demeanor, and style sensibilities aren't things that a person can help or change...By no means do I condone it. I have refused to engage with money launderers but there are all types of reasons and all types of money (sometimes not dirty) that people launder.

About the 35mm vs HD footage, film is actually much higher resolution, it just depends on how you transfer it to a different format. It also does lighting much better imo. Film preserves more information in the highlights, digital preserves information in shadows.(Which is kind of useless imo, at least for photography.)

It's pretty funny and holy shit is his impression of Tommy Wiseau great. You guys have to check it out if you're a fan of him or even if you're just curious, it's great. I almost pissed myself laughing cuz he was that good. But yeah you should definitely go check it out.

To be fair, film really *is* better.
Plus, he would have to re edit the film digitally. And yeah, lighting is an issue. Considering the lighting looks ok in the film, the digital footage is Probably way too bright.

What a shit interview. Who cares where Tommy is from and who cares how he made his money. The guy is a business man, he has sold toys, jeans and bought and sold real estate. Real estate in San Francisco and Los Angeles is worth millions, guy is obviously SMART for not transferring film since film is HIGHER QUALITY.
TW is weird, that's HIS THING that's what he's known for, for being mysterious.
If you read the book, for the people who brought up the money laundering, GS himself said it was highly impossible and they dismissed it.
Nobody in the universe can achieve the level of fame that TW has because of a shit film. There are Hollywood movies that have been easily forgotten.
