Sorry for the long comment.
Something I gotta ask, why the spider motif? Don't get me wrong I think spiders look cool, but why would Butch choose a spider specifically? When incorporating a motif for a character, really think about what it's meant to say about them. Spiders are often associated with: - Trickery. They're predators who don't go out to hunt but rather have their prey come to them. - Art and creativity. They create beautiful webs. - evil sophistication. The way they eat their prey is horrible but there's little mess involved. - dark and lonely places, their webs grow big and last long in places that are not likely to be disturbed. - They are also known for being horrible parents, bugs in general don't protect their offspring, but spiders in particular are known for EATING their own offspring if they don't catch any prey. Keeping that in mind, what would that say about Misery Vex, especially with her role in the story. Butch described her as being an intense warrior, not evil, just wanting order, the one who took in and raised a young Flynn. None of that has anything to do with spiders. Now maybe Misery Vex is a twist villain. Or if the spider motif is used to subvert expectations and what people normally think with spiders. There are great stories that do that. that would be great but the way Butch described her role in the story she didn't seem like one, so the spider motif goes to waste. It doesn't really invoke anything, it's just there because spiders look cool.

Another point that Butch's design forgets is that, in motion, characters' bodies need to be readable. With a cape that's got the same colors as the bodysuit, the design is going to be virtually unreadable in motion. Even if you can make out what's going on in a still image with some effort and close scrutiny, it's going to be impossible to figure out in motion. Putting the purple on the cape's inside definitely fixes the issue using a color already present in the palette - I honestly thought that this design's cape would just be completely unsalvageable, but I didn't even think to put the purple on the inside.

I'm surprised he acknowledged Invader Zim at all given it's the antithesis to his fundamentalist "horror-movies-and-crass-humor-are-evil" Christian values. Edit: missed a word
To be fair, there's actually another reason it's surprising to hear Butch Hartmann acknowledge Invader Zim that has nothing to do with religion. Admittedly, I should have brought this up in the original comment, but it's still worth mentioning now. See, Invader Zim and the full series version of the Fairly OddParents share a premiere date - March 30th, 2001. Given how egotistical Butch is, I'd imagine he's the type to constantly compare the success of the two shows to prove how much "better" he is. For most of their history, Invader Zim was stuck at 1 1/3 seasons due to being too expensive to make while the Fairly OddParents was one of the longest running, most successful Nicktoons of all time with various specials and TV movies under it's belt. Safe to say, if this was a competition Butch Hartmann definitely won. However, starting in 2015, the series' fates began to reverse, a fact fully cemented by 2019. FOP got hit by increasing budget issues and poor ratings, causing the creative team to resort to Flash animation halfway through Season 10 before they were unceremoniously cancelled entirely. The series had been struggling long before then, constantly adding new characters in a desperate attempt to stay relevant. This was such a disaster that FOP was left without an actual ending and Butch Hartmann left Viacom. Meanwhile at around the same time as FOP was beginning to seriously falter, Invader Zim got an official continuation via the Oni Press comics. Unlike most comic adaptations of animated series, they're considered part of the same canon rather than their own universe. This is likely due to many members of the original creative team, including prominent writer Eric Trueheart and series creator Jhonen Vasquez, overseeing production and the aforementioned expenses that'd come with trying to bring the stories to television. Those comics are still running by the way - they're well past Issue 50 at this point. Then IZ also got a TV-movie in the form of Enter the Florpus, finally giving the series a proper send-off in animated form. So now (aka TL:DR for the rest of this paragraph) after over a decade, Fairly Odd Parents is the series that got cancelled without any acknowledgement of it's end due to budget issues and Invader Zim is the one that got a finale and is still running, albeit in another medium. How the turns table. Given all of the above, I'm shocked Butch Hartmann isn't too fucking salty at this ironic twist of fate to talk about IZ, never mind praise it. He is absolutely that arrogant and petty to be pissed at a show because it "upstaged" his most successful cartoon after everyone thought it was LONG dead. And unlike the decade+ Invader Zim spent with no new content, with an extremely dedicated fanbase and high praise the entire time, not even fans want the Fairly OddParents to come back. Granted, it was later announced there'd be a live-action Fairly OddParents TV show that Butch Hartmann was put in charge of, but that's been in development hell AND wasn't a thing yet by the time of the crossover video. So ya, you honestly can't convince me Butch doesn't hate the show for all it stands for - likely the only reason he did the video was for the sake of views aka money and attention. The potential religious conflict is just the icing on the cake.
As someone who's really attached to Dib's character, that Butch Hartman drawing hurts my soul to look at every time I see it. To be mildly fair, the official art for Dib in his OG design, what Butch is clearly referencing, is rather unflattering (given Viacom's execs notoriously despised the character, can't help but feel this was intentional). However, Butch's rendition is beyond dreadful, even with that basis. Tangent aside, wonderfully done redesign! I like how when you do these you try to stay close to the original intention while also fixing the obvious design flaws. For someone who's never drawn in Stephen Silver's style before, you did a really nice job! I would have probably spaced the webbing out more, as having small lines bunched so close together would be a pain to animate. I also agree that the staff is a little boring at the head - maybe moving a few of the extra legs of the abstract spider from the OG's torso to the head of the staff would have worked? Otherwise, this is such a massive improvement in every way. The cape especially is a humongous improvement - the solid purple helps the body stand out a lot. I also love the hair style you went with and how you made the gems of the headdress simulate spider eyes. Super clever.

Maybe it's cos I'm from the transformers fandom where character designs are naturally busy but I honestly like the original character design? I think maybe it works better as some sort of silver age comic villain parody than a Danny Phantom villain. Also I realised your thumbnail honestly made the design better? You criticised the green spider crown thing and the purple and green stripey thing not working but I realised your thumbnail added a shadow to the spider crown which thickens it and make it honestly come together more. They look more like they're part of the same thing now. So by sheer accident you improved Butch's design before even drawing the new version.
I hate to be this guy because I don't even like butch, but I feel like you lost all the personality and zanyness of the character. There is literally nothing interesting in what has been created, it's just more readable.
Just to making few notes here as a passer by - While black and green are a great combination together, and fit the show's color palette, adding purple to the mix feels like the two colors are just constantly screaming for your attention, and it makes the eyes exhausted. Maybe its the bright shade of green at fault. I'm sure there's a way to make those colors work together, but that's not it. Maybe drop the green. She's really rocks the purple asthenic IMO.

I love this redesign! I don't know why people are being such shit in the comments saying you "oversimplified." More garbage on a character does not equal better. Your design would fit perfectly in a danny phantom episode, it has just enough detail that you know what her motif is supposed to be, and her powers within the show would only help that. Butch's design would never have gotten past the animators. It's far too much to do for a weekly, hand-drawn show. Butch didn't even do most of the designs for danny phantom so I don't know where these people think he has any actual talent. He's the George Lucas of animation, where he let all the power and popularity go to his head so now no one can give him criticism.

honestly this guy sounds like a jerk but his design is kinda better- you should practice anatomy and posing a bit more. The static and unnatural pose just immediately makes the design less appealing to me
Her's is more of a concept design, those tend to be in static poses so the artist can get an idea for the outfit and basic design. You start using more fluid poses once you have a more concrete idea of the final look and think it's worth seeing in action. I mean she literally said she's drawing a concept here, it's just for fun.
From a artist, its better, the colors are more thought out, the shading is better. The focus point is on the face and not the crouch this time. Way better. The most saturated point is the face draw your attention to it, vs butchs where it is just a whole mess, leading you to the crouch since its the only resting point. So nice try pal

My take on this? Yours is boring, theirs is interesting. His design is very interesting but is overly detailed, take the staff away and the cape and it looks 10 times better. Colors could have been better, maybe lighter, softer? but thats a choice and the colors work well together besides red, red has to go. The crown spider finger thingy? Looks very unique on her and thus separating them from other characters, unlike the ponytail you gave her.
The accessories on the hat are way too convoluted. The ponytail and hair are just fine, I’d just add a bit of hair dye at the ends. Also the red is cool because it gives off a black widow vibe, and it stands out from the rest.
in my honest opinion you kind of made the spider lady basic..... from what i know, she was supposed to be in a kids show n like...... the original design would be more appealing for that of a kids show, yk? and also redesigning characters is just kind of rude to the original artist. i don’t like butch but i don’t see anything problematic with spider lady that needed to be fixed
At least Butch has creative style, this looks like Total Drama fanart from tumblr. Typical nobody youtuber piggybacking on a real somebody's success to get a couple views. Pathetic.
I can understand -Butchs' (Butches? Butchs? Don't know how it works in English)- Hartmans need to protect himself from nonconstructive criticism which will mainly come from Anonymous people outside the industry (since they have no need to fear lost Business opportunities) in the form of flatout hate (possibly redirected in the sense of: you suck personally and your art sucks, too) because he will likely have to deal with a lot of that, but to demand that you have made successful art yourself if you want to criticise him is just silly.

Your design is 10x better than his. Great job!
I hate to be this guy because I don't even like butch, but I feel like you lost all the personality and zanyness of the character. There is literally nothing interesting in what has been created, it's just more readable.
God the Zelda music made the video feel so chill and serene despite the critique based tone
I would say this is just as immature as the "fixing art" trend, but it's Butch Hartman, so go crazy.
I love when Danny goes into ghost form and Jack says you’re a ghost , I hate ghost , though he is a ghost himself 😂 in masters of all time
God the one thing that bother's me the most about Butch's drawing is how uneven her thighs are. The green boots makes it especially stand out. jfc
I can hear Butch balling his eyes out realizing that some normie on the internet draws better than him.
She's really rocks the purple asthenic IMO.
your redesign of the character is way better that butch's
*that moment when your wips look better*
well i can already say your design works way better.
also is that Zelda OST i hear in the background??
I do believe so!
I would of giver her Dreadlocks instead of a ponytail but thats just me
Hey! I love your art, but I was wondering what program you used! What is it? and is it free? :)
it looks like they use photoshop! which isnt a free program :
@@ForeverWildstar Ah, Thank you anyways!!
@@Reallycooldog I know you didn’t ask me, but the program I use is free as far as I have checked, and is called MediBang paint, which I have used since last year. Also a good option is Ibis Paint, though I much prefer the first option here.
@@c.julietofcampjupiter8557 Ah, thank you! I know ibis paint is a application for mobile devices. Is MediBang Paint the same? I'm asking cause I draw on a computer. lol
@@Reallycooldog MediBang Paint has both a mobile and desktop option, though mobile is a slightly different format. No clue about Ibis
Only criticism I have of your design is that I did really like the idea of a spider web cape, and I think the plain purple one is kind of bland. Otherwise, perfect!
Maybe it can have a very thin light purple or a faint tint of white to use as a spiderweb? Idk just wanted to throw that idea in :/
@@libraeevee9467 YEAHHH THAT WOULD KICK ASS
Maybe the web design could go on the back of the cape.
@@notatallfunctional and could work possible as a cloak! Like say to symbolize how spiders would normally wrap their prey up in their cobweb
2:10 I’m sorry, what is a “environmental illness” please explain it to me, is caring about animals and the plant a illness now..?
8:03 yep already better, already has soon much thought to it and you can tell what she's about while still letting your mind wonder, alright see you next video im already satisfied
Dude I could see that 2nd one in motion in the show, gives off heavy phantom vibes.
Looking at this drawing makes me actually feel sick like my stomach I wanna vomit
But weirdly this Dosent make me cry but the fright before Christmas does because of all that Danny has been through and Sam ,Tucker and Danny are having a chat and they just give him the jacket I tear up
1:44 Didn’t even put in Desiree?
Good spider themed sorceress design: this and the character Morganthe from Wizard101.
2:52 I literally scrolled down while watching this video and that video was being recommended to me 💀💀💀💀
Maybe redesigning Danny’s children might help too
i was gonna make a comment talking about how even my rh oc isiris has a better design (she’s some demon spider eye creature) than butch hartmans oc that you’ve redrawned in this video but i thought it’d be too long for me and i just thought that posting a pic of her would be way better than describing her since i cannot describe stuff for my life
Man, forget about of haterd of Butch Hartman
He's The one Who create a Fairly oddparents.
1:49 me good lady has may not heard or watch totally spies in her childhood.
It’s dark and now my eyes hurt
You can just call it a fan art. Idk why there has to be negativity put towards someone else.
I would agree but it's Butch Hartman, certified douchebag.
But later The episode becomes sad when Jack is killed off By Vlad
2:28 IS THAT DIB? PLEASE DONT TELL ME THAT’S DIB 💀
Does anyone know the name of the music at 14:38?
Well now you telling me to subscribe has made me so it’s definitely true and working
Nice work!
And show it for respect The creator!
You did awesome
honestly this guy sounds like a jerk but his design is kinda better- you should practice anatomy and posing a bit more. The static and unnatural pose just immediately makes the design less appealing to me
True
Her's is more of a concept design, those tend to be in static poses so the artist can get an idea for the outfit and basic design. You start using more fluid poses once you have a more concrete idea of the final look and think it's worth seeing in action. I mean she literally said she's drawing a concept here, it's just for fun.
as opposed to the wonky ass pose of butch's???
People piss on him just because it's trendy now anyway. "he didn't drew Danny Phantom anyway he sucks blabla"
One hundred thirty dollar cartoon called The Garden? What a joke!
U litterally drew the same thing, but made it worse, yiiiiiikes dud
From a artist, its better, the colors are more thought out, the shading is better. The focus point is on the face and not the crouch this time. Way better. The most saturated point is the face draw your attention to it, vs butchs where it is just a whole mess, leading you to the crouch since its the only resting point.
So nice try pal
I enjoyed this video and so I subscribed -- I just felt I'd let you know
This was recommended from the person you’ve linked so Hello👋
August 2021
9:50 where is that song from ???
I watching Danny Phantom masters of all time right now
Butch Hartman: *Does anything bad*
Me: HAHAHAHA. Fuck you, Butch Hartman. Fuck you.
Also me: *Sees the Kirby Crackle on the Spider-Woman OC’s hands*
Me: HOW DARE A HACK LIKE BUTCH HARTMAN SODOMIZE THE LEGACY OF JACK KIRBY!
Im watching Danny Phantom right now 😂 I know Butch Hartman is bad but we can all agree Danny Phantom is still amazing and you can still watch it , Danny Phantom is my all time favorite show
i think you design is certainly easier on the eyes, imo butches is leagues more interesting and creative
It’s better basic instead of confusing.
You basically just took all the interesting Jack Kirbyesque design elements away.
The cape was a bit cluttered with all that webbing but honestly Butch's design wasn't bad.
I think if they added something more on the head it would have been perfect but besides that I don’t see a problem with it
@MechanYex She used lots of green anyways...
Also the problem isn't that there is a lot of green. It's just the shade of green that is a radioactive green that its impossible and distracting to look at
The webbing should be on the back of the cape and should be more simplified
Your design is a lot less interesting. This was a failed attempt to dunk on somebody more talented than you.
Nice

And did You Asking for permission for make Drawings?
He never asked permission before stealing other peoples work. And he is a horrible person. So no he will not get mine, nor anyone’s respect.
@@Flicker_thefo0x and Why You're Asking about this Question?
Doesn't the arm's connection to the chest look kind of weird? Of course, you know more about art than me but i think that maybe you could show that the boobs are in front of the arms, not at the same level.
This is the first video i've watched so if you fixed that alredy then cool! If you know what you're doing with that it's also perfect
Other than just that the draw is
💕Amazing💕 and i love it, so much better than Butch's
My take on this? Yours is boring, theirs is interesting. His design is very interesting but is overly detailed, take the staff away and the cape and it looks 10 times better. Colors could have been better, maybe lighter, softer? but thats a choice and the colors work well together besides red, red has to go.
The crown spider finger thingy? Looks very unique on her and thus separating them from other characters, unlike the ponytail you gave her.
Butch isn't gonna fuck you bro
The accessories on the hat are way too convoluted. The ponytail and hair are just fine, I’d just add a bit of hair dye at the ends. Also the red is cool because it gives off a black widow vibe, and it stands out from the rest.
Butch's design physically made me sick- at least with her design you can look at it and not go into a seizure
I kind of miss the spider motif you could still easly put in your redesign
in my honest opinion you kind of made the spider lady basic..... from what i know, she was supposed to be in a kids show n like...... the original design would be more appealing for that of a kids show, yk? and also redesigning characters is just kind of rude to the original artist. i don’t like butch but i don’t see anything problematic with spider lady that needed to be fixed
?
i like the original more but it isn't like the redesign is ugly
