  • ‪@Dean_Trips‬' Dean hikes in Switzerland on a work trip layover as a day outing from Zurich in June 2024. Dean travels by train (1 hour) to Schwyz, where he transfers to a bus then to the cog rail station to ride up the steep Stoos Bahn to the village of Stoos. From there, Dean hikes up to do the Stoos Ridge Hike. The chair lifts are not running on this nearly summer solstice afternoon and there aren't very many hikers either up on the Ridge Hike as the weather is cloudy and windy. Dean encounters just a few rain drops, and enjoys a cool temperature for hiking and records the beautiful views. Dean's hike takes him up to the Klingenstock lift station and follows the Gratwanderung Stoos path to Fronalpstock. The route follows right along the ridge going up and down approximately for 4 km or 2.5 miles. The restaurant there is not open this day. Dean follows a path back down which retreats a little ways and decides he should have taken the shorter trek down from Fronalstock. The round trip train ticket from Zurich including the Stoos Bahn cost 88 Swiss francs or about $100.
