That guitar is the spitting image of the charvel style 2. I have one.

That first tone sounded like the amp wanted to blow up! Loved it!

Harley bentons are great but the setups are always off haha. I have the standard hardtail fusion and it's amazing.

True, though I have heard of the odd few arriving with people with great setups. Guess they're flukes, but then, I've tried out plenty of big brands at stores that have had ridiculously bad setups!

@@doctorfuzzzdirtbox ikr it's a lottery with most brands. Played a pricey Charvel a little while back in store and the factory setup was appalling. Dead frets everywhere. Had to call over the nearest worker to let him know the guitar was unplayable without a setup.

I bought the S style version of this guitar. Yeah, you can't leave an active guitar plugged in. Mine however was going through batteries not plugged in. I discovered the jack was cracked. That sandwich board materal was cracked making the guitar think it was always plugged in. After replacing that it's been probably two months now taking it to practice and using it at home with the same battery. The sound improved a great deal as well. The "short" must have been causing other issues as well. The tuners are garbage, I agree. It stays in tune but there's a lot of slack in them. They'll be replaced at some point. Otherwise the jack fixed all the other issues.

I actually use USB rechargeable batteries in all of my active guitars. I have a half a dozen batteries, so a replacement for each guitar, they are actually great.

I have the S-Type of this guitar and I love it. Everything was perfect on it, but admittedly the QC from Thomann can be a crapshoot but the higher end ones are okay. Interesting to hear the issues with it, but I guess you don't know what it went through before you got it.
The usual Fusions IIIs HT are £295, but the III range does go all the way up to the price of an EMG model new as well, there's a couple of models of the III that are currently the same price as this.
Also, for my ears, those £15 pickups sound utterly dreadful XD

Are they!? Haha! 😂 Well, I'm mostly pushing into a Big Muff style pedal so nothing organic survives, but I would agree that the EMGs were certainly higher end.

    I have one.
It's great guitar for it's price, but jack socket is awful. I installed nice Switchcraft socket and now it's perfect

Seems all the hardware/electronics is hit-and-miss. My jack socket's spot on!

@@doctorfuzzzdirtbox frets are perfect without any polishing. My local luthier was amazed by it's quality straight from the shop

Yeah, mine too! But again, I've heard of people having fret sprout, even on this model. Thankfully Thomann don't ask questions if you buy from them and want to swap it, so you can keep rolling the dice to get a perfect one! 😅

Sinister Gates uses invaders I think. As a bass player, those straps are the key. A big enough one will make like a jazz v not dive

Leaving the guitar plugged in will drain the battery with active pickups. Just go ahead and unplug when you're done playing.

Yeah, but that's what I struggle with having only passive pickups my whole life. It's not the actives that are the problem. It's me! 😅

Maybe I'm stupid or not, I don't like active pickups, because I don't want to take care of a full or empty battery...
And if I grab a guitar, I don't want to waste a single thought about a battery, I just want to play music... I really like the look of some Harley Benton guitars, but to be a good guitar for me, I have to make some upgrades. I never tryed cheap pickups, but I must say, that the new pickups you're using sounding not that bad. I'm still searching for a new guitar, maybe a baritone, a 7 string or an 8 string, or maybe a 7 string baritone, but it has to be good and not too expensive... My dream guitars just cost a lot of money... That's why Harley Benton is probably not that bad. Changing the electronics and pickups will cost me about 400€. I like the Lundgren Black Heaven pickups, the Ragnarok from Bare Knuckle, the Black Winter from Seymoure Duncan in the neck position.... because of their definition and transparency. For me it's important to have a good sound also if I'm using low tuned guitars...
At least it's cheaper than one of my dream guitars, but I don't know if this makes me feel happy.
Next time I have to try some Harley Benton guitars...

This is exactly my reason. They sound good but to always think about unplugging it when I hang it up or even keep a stock 9 volts in my kit bag - just . . . why!? I don't run my pedals like that for the same reason. They can last a long time, but it's just another thing to think about eventually.
I see HB have a bunch of 7 and 8 strings on offer. Look pretty sick.

the bridge pickup looks not close enough to the bridge.

Yeah, you're right. It's about a 5mm difference to a standard Fender position and about 10mm further than typical Les Paul measurements.

Unplug your guitar after use and a 9v should last a fair while.

Batteries last long when you unplug the guitar when you are done playing.
