“My favourite cartoons like Dragon Ball…”
Last words of a man before the weeb anime army took out his Hobbit Bunker with a katana-shaped missile.
RIP dude, I’ll remember you forever.
It's so funny when some weebs are offended with this. They can't comprehend that anime is Japanese Cartoon.
Edit: Read the replies to understand. Cartoons isn't just for kids. You must have not live long for y'all to assume that cartoons doesn't have matured contents. If that's your argument because there are animes that aren't meant for kids then please let your kids, younger sibs, or kid neighbors watch Family guy because if you're perception on cartoons is it is just for kids then I don't know what to do with you anymore.
Y'all weebs should have argued that it is different because of cultural differences, animation differences, style differences. Not the because anime aren't for kids and cartoons are.
I mean I watch anime for like 10 years now (I am 20 now btw). Have watched gore animes, shounen, shoujo, yuri, yaoi, josei, slice of life, drama, romcom, etc., depressing sh*ts, have read manga, manhwas, manhua, been an otaku for almost all of my life, surrounded by otakus (my friends, my family) (my mom watch anime too before) But still, I consider anime as Japanese cartoon.
I guess we all have differences in this kind of topic. Well whatever suits you best.
@@DishWsher I'm not offended but, I think it's not the same, cartoon is an animation, like anime but it's like stating Japanese art is renaissance or impressionism art (not sure). But as far as I know the creator did not say that dbz is a cartoon. He just said that "dbz is great for that"
@@user-gu8vq9iy7j It's all about perspective and perception. When people think about cartoon they think that it's just for kids but it's not (Adult cartoon is an example). That's how some of the weebs' mind work. Anime is Japanese cartoon. There's also western cartoon. Same with anime, it has many genres and themes but mostly people watch on TV are those cartoons for kids. But it's the same. It's cartoon but also different in terms with art style or concepts. (I'm bad with my English but I hope I have conveyed my thoughts to the readers)
@@user-gu8vq9iy7j some anime is targeted towards younger viewers. And some anime is meant for older viewers. But remember that cartoons aren't necessarily meant for younger viewers. Cartoons are defined as
"a motion picture using animation techniques to photograph a sequence of drawings rather than real people or objects."
Or
"a simple drawing showing the features of its subjects in a humorously exaggerated way, especially a satirical one in a newspaper or magazine."
Nothing in that definition says anything about viewers ages. Therefore, Cartoons are anime and anime is a cartoon. Cartoons can be for adults as well as younger viewers. Let's not gatekeep anime/cartoons. Let people who enjoy that art form enjoy it!
@@DishWsher and that cartoons can be for many different ages, not just kids!
I feel like I’m too "proud" to copy poses of films cartoon or I don’t know but I should probably start to before I go back to stick man and family 💀
It’s been a month since I posted this comment, and I just want to thank everyone for the likessss yay and especially the comments !! Why are too proud to draw these?
@@timowthie maybe they feel like they're copying which means they think they're not talented enough
@@buggy-boy Copying is really important for beginner artists ( not even beginner artists, experienced ones too! Like how Scott Christian Sava did the series on Studying the Masters! Its always helpful to see how other people do things. You can learn so much from a copy!) Because let's face it: no one in this day and age is really "self taught" (except that we teach ourselves to learn from our peers and our surroundings) We all learn from each other, even the strangest, most different art has some roots, some influence from some work or something they saw.
@@kaleajohnson7414 yes i used to copy coloring pages of monster high characters when i was little, i think it honestly helped me and it still has an influence on my style
@@buggy-boy Same here! Monster high was one of my very first as well! I loved the style! :)
Study JoJo the amount of poses you can study is absolutely immaculate And it’s a great anime/manga so even better
But if you are doing a study off of JoJo you should probably do it with parts 4 and after unless you are trying to draw extremely muscular people
@@conno3935 true :)
if you’re into a horribly written plot with worse pacing than an obese elementary school child running a mile for PE, pointless story arcs, ugly character design, and an annoying soundtrack, go for it ! jojo is the best in the garbage anime genre !
This sounds interesting. I’ll give it a go.

@@who.needs.a.username612 cartoons can also have high details lol, some anime are for adults but mostly for kids!
@@who.needs.a.username612 we dont call it a cartoon. In anime they call a cartoon a cartoon and anime an anime. One is west one is east. And anime fans like that distinction. And the art style also differs, its very distinctive
This book is how I learned to draw!!! I recieved it as a gift before quarantine, and I've dedicated over 2 years learning from this book and then moving beyond!!!
tip: copy a pose, draw it again a few times, then redraw it with a character you draw often or want to draw more. it helps both check their design and practice anatomy!
amen
That’s such good advice!!! I’ll try it
Thanks for the advice.

One of my favorite books ever! I have had this for years and it’s amazing.
My favorite book for dynamic poses will always be "Force: Dynamic Life Drawing for Animators" by Michael Mattesi. I've ended up with multiple copies of the book because I'd want to look through when I came home from college, realize I left it in my dorm, and buy another copy. I think I even have a PDF copy on my laptop somewhere so I don't have to hunt for the physical copy anymore. TLDR, I really like that book.
This is why I read comments. Gonna have to get a copy of that book. Side note, have you heard of a program called design doll? If not I'm sure you or anyone Interested in animation/drawing figures would really enjoy it. Takes a bit to get comfortable with it but once you get the hang of it it's easy and fun. Check it out
@@wyrdo1501 I hadn't heard of design doll before. I'll definitely have to check out that program at some point.
That’s it-I’m handing over my crown (look at my name) u have worked so darn hard to become an ultimate master
I am honored.
I love to study manga as art references. Usually frames are high quality and more detail than the animated scenes. Plus lots of crazy poses and expressions. Also really cool how they make drawings dynamic only using greyscale colors and not even blended shadows usually. Only textured, sharp, or crosshatching shadows mostly.
I remember getting this as one of my presents from my school and I would be there for hours sketching until I was able to accurately draw the proportions right of my favorite poses
Yes, this is kinda how I got into drawing. I would sketch my favorite superheroes and anime characters, first in simple, straight form, then I learned how to draw dynamic poses by copying images and eventually being able to do it by memory and trial & error.
I've always wanted to draw and you're actually teaching me so much!!
I found this book at a thrift store when I was like 6 it my first time teaching myself to draw and it was so helpful
Marvel Comics was my only reference when I was a kid... but I still need to work a lot on the dimensions, it's not easy.
Thank you for posting this, it brought great memories. 💕
Can you please do a video about brushes 🥺
Man it’s 2 am and I’ve never had such an urge to draw 😩
Wow this brings back a ton of memories! When I was a kid I took this book out at the library many times because I thought it was awesome, and it really is to this day.
Im genuinely so happy to have found your chancel! I love your artwork and it really inspired me to get into Aqua-coloring again, not just that but because of your recomandtaions i brought the same set of pens and i love them! This is very solid advice. Comic artists have a great way of simplifying things since they're on such a time crunch.

I have this book and it’s a lifesaver when drawing bodies and characters!
My grandad got me this book about 25 years ago and its literally my go to for perspective drawing and posing
I am currently studying figure drawing. So thankyou! Honestly the fact that you say trace it, copy it, etc really gives me confidence. Because I really have been wanting to just really break apart my favorite illustrations lately. Get in, trace it, draw it from reference, use the reference as reference, etc. The tracing part is the taboo, it's one I have crossed before, and one that I consider an ample tool in rotoscope animations. I just have to once again swallow my pride. I feel as though the journey of an artist is a journey of realizing your pride is making you take the hard route.
Like if my ADHD allowed me to just really go back to basics and get properly good at one thing before moving on to another I know I'd excel. Because one moment I'll draw a doodle that sprawls into a tapestry of psychedelic mind dump, the next I want to draw a character but am self conscious of my skill so I draw figures for now, then I focus on shapes for a bit. Like I look through my sketchbooks and it's always all over the place. I kinda own it but it makes the process of acquiring new skills a slow one. Cuz it's like a drip feed of investment without properly expanding onto the concepts into "mastery". My definition of mastery is ostensibly acquiring the muscle memory of how to draw the thing, it may not look masterful yet but you have acquired that shape combination or artistic process and can refine it.
My thought honestly was, "every job I work I end up getting to the point within a few weeks where the entire thing is thoughtless and automatic."
If I can just start really even isolating hour snippets where I work on something I think I'll do better. Cuz nearly everything I work on I do in bits in pieces whilst I do something else, be it work or in between working out. The latter being something that is a round the clock thing for me due to being an amateur Sumo wrestler. But even sumo, the best results I've had is when I just go into a battle trance for an hour or two. Like you've pushed through the pain, you feel like you want to pass out and you've felt like that for the last 30 minutes, but then you envision one more opponent and suddenly life surges back through your body and your are able to push yourself into the truly endurance zone. I think in any skill you learn best when you are at your most uncomfortable. Like some of my favorite drawings have been stuff that I have drawn that was way out of my skill level but I did it anyway.
With my art I think the big solution is what it always will be, practice. And I won't say unfortunately, I'll say I'm fortunate that I have practice to look forward to. It's fun to get into those meditative states. I think that's also half the battle, making whatever you are doing fun. If you are excited to do it when you get home then it will be fullfilling, but if you view it as a mountain of practice you have to grind through it'll take forever. Yeah dude, I'm gonna have fun with meditating through my art. Screw setting arbitrary deadlines that I'll break and disappoint myself. I'm gonna live in art at all times, if that means 1 drawing a week or 100 drawings a week it means no difference as long as I'm engaging in that practice.
Thanks for this little meditation through text my guy.

Also, Akira Toriyama’s art style is so incredibly fun to draw and emulate for some reason?? I genuinely don’t know why, I just encourage everyone to give it a try. It’s absurdly fun.
I think it’s something with the exaggerated proportions and dramatic physics of stuff like hair and clothes. You can play around and get crazy with it. If you’re feeling down and uninspired, draw a random character in Toriyama’s style. It will brighten your day up.
My dad gave me his copy of the book from when he was a kid and it has helped immensely! Plus, it's so cool to know I'm holding something probably 20 years older than me 🤣
It is, however, not very diverse in terms of bodies and faces so I do recommend trying to apply the tips they give but using reference images of POC, plus size ppl, disabled ppl, and in general diverse types of people as an excersize!
