  • In this video, You can see 2 different styles of knitting. The first one is a Continental Style of Knitting and the second one is an Eastern European Style of Knitting.
I always make my tutorials in those 2 methods to ensure that everyone can knit from my patterns, regardless of the method of knitting used.

I have been doing this without knowing that it has a name! I knit this way for ribbing, it makes more defined rows on a knit 1 pearl 1.

I’m teaching someone to knit so after a lifetime of English, because that was how I was taught as a child, I am learning new myself. This looks wonderful. Glad I found you.

Happy to hear that! For me the eastern way of knitting is much easier and much quicker that continental.

When I was learning, I made almost an entire sweater using what I thought was continental style. I realized that I had done all of the knit stitches correctly for that method but had done all of my pearls the Eastern European way, so all of my knit stitches were twisted. I have tried doing continental pearl stitches and hate them after doing them the Eastern European way. Thanks for showing me how to do the knit stitches correctly while keeping the pearl method I love for its simplicity and efficiency.

Same here. Making purls in that way makes things much much easier. I did that without knowing the name of it.
But will also try the knit way of the video

Yes, once you know the eastern method, it is hard to swap to the continental method. The continental seems to be more difficult, especially the purl stitch. ;P

I am trying to switch from continental to this style. The stitches, especially purls seem neater and more uniform.

Once you get how to knit in eastern way, it is possible to combine it with continental as well. I found the eastern way much easier and much quicker to knit :)

It's so funny.. I am from Turkey and my mom knits the British way. I don't know where I learnt the eastern European way, but this is how I knit as well. And I dont come from a digital global generation :)) this was a fun coincidence.
