Honestly, this is probably the best car review I ever seen. No bragging and cliches, but reasonable comments, in-depth observations and no prejudice. Congratulations! PS: I lived in Germany for about a year and this kind of approach, relatively common among Germans, is lovely.
Great review. I bought the sedan version in Chile with the same engine and gearbox, and your video helped me. So far and after a month I agree with your appreciations. Keep it up, I'll keep watching
Great review. I know some people have complained about the length and detail of this review but this is what I needed as I was keen on buying the Tipo Sedan. This review helped make up my mind and I'm really happy with the car. The boot is huge and it's very roomy inside the car. Great value for money. Some people complain about the small screen but I have no issues with it. The last thing I want is a TV screen in front of the car distracting me.
@@heateslier Yes - I still have the car and I'd highly recommend it. I bought the 1.4 95 BHP petrol version. The odd time I wish I had the turbo 120BHP version for overtaking but as most of my driving is urban and motorway it really wouldn't have been worth it. I've had no issues with the car so far. All good.
@@BrandonJonesMusic24 Hi Brandon - all still going great after almost 5 years. No regrets at all. No maintenance trouble. I find the 95BHP very peppy and good fun to drive. Best of luck with it if you go for it.
I have the same version except with the naturally aspirated 1.4L manual transmission power train with cruise control, and speed limiter. 133,000 kilometers in 3.5 years, basically no issues at all except for the water pump that died at 10k so it was covered by warranty. This is a wonderful car I love it.
I have exactly the same version of Fiat Tipo and I can confirm the review, probably with the exception of the motor sound which seems me to be very low up to 130 km/h. During 5 years and 70000 km the car was reliable, only the water pump was replaced during warranty period, so without additional costs for me. I selected this car because of classical automatic transmission which should be much more durable than the DSG transmissions. Also the atmospheric motor without turbo should be more reliable. I plan to keep the car as long as I can, because I do not like the new cars designed according to stupid EU regulations.
Join our Thomas Imhof for this very first Fiat Tipo review on Autogefühl with the sedan/Limousine version. We'll check out the hatch and/or estate for you later this year as well, stay tuned!
I have the 2018 - 5 door Fiat Tipo Lounge 1.3 Diesel. Love the car and think the front design is excellent. Plenty of room in the vehicle and the only downside for me is the centre consul, the cup holders push the centre box to the back making it useless. A bit more thought and the cup holders could have been put elsewhere and the the centre box moved forward.
Nice review, keep doing more and you will get more confident and better! and maybe a tip for the steering wheel use the words 'reach and rake' reach is forwards/backwards and rake is up/down
i like you, and i like your videos you are very precise and accurate with a lot of information and neutral point of view, big respect for the effort, if you could be more fast paced with more editing for the silent parts you would be the best, 10 minutes video thats all what human race need in 2017 to know a bout a vehicle, appreciate your work again
Thank you for a good review Thomas! You did a very good job 👍 I like the car, it seems as good value for the money, it also looks good both from the outside and the interior. Vielen dank von Schweden! Tschuss!
base equipment starts at 12k € in my country, still kinda expensive but for some 13 000 € with some good deal on equipment from local dealer this car looks great...competition mentioned at the end of the video is not really a competition imo, rapid is maybe 20% more expensive and mazda, honda or ford do offer similar models but for some extra 4-5 000 € which is completely different price category in my eyes (thats +40% cost). Direct competition is more like lada vesta (very solid equipment), Citroen C Elysee (offers very cheap to drive 1.6 diesel, please do review:) and Peugeot 301 (similar to Elysee but also offer 1.6 petrol automat. These would be my top 4 picks for sedans within 13 000 € and very solid equipment (parking sensors in the back, air conditioning...."normal" stuff these days). Surely you may find other cars and think "well but Skoda Rapid/Renaul Megane Grandcoupe is just 2-3000€ more...ye they are, but without anything inside.
Excellent review. Very detailed and neutral in emotions. :) I guess T-jet (120bhp) would be the best petrol engine for the car. Already available for hatchback and SW.
Bravo for review ... very profesional. The best I saw. Italian car .... like punto, tipo has very pour the material inside. But the economy is very good ( lit per km)... Price is ... hmmmmm ... maybe ok. Hello from Serbia - Vojvodina
Thanks Thomas, nice review! I like the look of this car, I think the designers did a nice job. The interior is quite nice too, and it seems to drive well enough with the focus on comfort. That noisy engine struggling to go up-hill is a major downside though. Looking at the prices here in the Netherlands, it's not a cheap car (due to CO2 taxes). As a result they will hardly sell any of these over here..
In this segment, it seems the Seat Toledo is the cheapest. But there are very few sedans on offer in this segment. The cheapest Tipo (1.4 pop) is 19500 (due to more than 5800 euro co2 tax). The cheapest Seat Toledo is 17150 (2400 euro CO2 tax!) Skoda Rapid 18800 (2400 CO2 tax). As you can see, without the CO2 tax the Tipo would be a lot cheaper than the others. But it now is actually more expensive. And a lot of hatchbacks (Focus, Megane, Pulsar etc) start at 19-20.000 too. The Tipo simply does not have a price advantage here..
+Gerard van Essen so you are telling me that with dieselgate volkswagen group cheated not only directly on pollution, selling cars that couldn't be sold and even registered in the local car register, but on taxes too. I didn't consider this. thank you.
Excellent review, guys, keep it up! If you don't want to review german cars that much, european cars that are actually going to be sold are much better choice than american monstrocities or pathetic japanese boxes with technology from 1980's.
Thank you for this video, Can I ask you about wind isolation, in Highway, is there any annoying noises of wind? what about security and brake system used in this car? ABS, ESP ... etc thanks a lot,
The steering is hydraulic assisted, like most car nowadays, the city button just gives more power to the hydraulic motor to make the steering lighter when parking
This car offers a great price/quality ratio. It's a notch above Dacia, and maybe comparable with the Nissan Pulsar and Skoda Rapid. When you guys review the hatchback it would be great if you could your opinion compared with those two models. The hatch also has daytime LEDs, the 7'' display and a few other nice things. Hope you guys manage to review the 1.6 Diesel with the hatch. :)
Thanks! I know this car isn't exactly the best of the C-segment and is probably different from what the typical german buyer looks for in a car. But in a big part of Europe it has everything people are looking for, with an unbeatable price. It's spacious, has a big boot, lots of equipment, a small diesel engine and a bigger one... The Nissan Pulsar, Skoda Rapid and maybe the KIA Ceed are the main rivals of this car and not the big names of the segment. This car can't compete with the Méganes, Golfs, Astras but it is so much cheaper than them. So for someone with limited money that needs the most space as possible, and equipment this car is a very rational choice.
When the Dodge Dart and Chrysler 200 cease production in 2017, FCA will need a compact car to meet CAFE. The Dodge Neon from MX and will be in US showrooms as a 2018 model, and maybe a more upscale Chrysler 100 in 2020 after the mid-cycle refresh.
I appreciate this review, although its very late considering the launch of the car. I would really like to know what do you think about hatch version with 1.4turbo petrol (which you cant have in limousine) compared to this. It has some notable changes and Fiat claims it should be better. I like the part from motorway where is some acceleration visible + overall conlucsion is pretty decent, good job. Just improve the fluency of the speech and skip those wierd mouth sounds at the start of the sentences (munching?).
Fiat does not offer us early product reviews as they dont set a big emphasis on digital media in Germany, I'm sorry. We'll take another look at the hatch later this year
