“The word poet means to make…You don’t have to necessarily make with words, you can make a pie, you can make a sketch. I feel like if you are actually intentional about making things in your life…you’re making a little bit more beauty in the world.” Author Aimee Nezhukumatathil talks to NPT host J.T. Ellison about WORLD OF WONDERS: IN PRAISE OF FIREFLIES, WHALE SHARKS, AND OTHER ASTONISHMENTS. - Развлечения
Yay for Aimee's World of Wonders! Love!❤︎
Wonderful intentions, a sweetly beautiful book, but let’s be truthful: the author sounds a bit like a child truly outside for the first time, naive to the realities and atrocities occurring in the nonhuman environment: pesticide-sprayed- mono-culture crop lands devoid of small avian/mammalian/bee and butterfly lives; factory farming operations, “processing plants” floating continental masses of plastic in fished-out oceans, clear-cut-damaged forests, dry lakes drained for irrigating cornfields for ethanol, some of the abominable zoos still operating, etc. There are so many books and periodicals of lyrical prose and poetry. A true revolution for Nature is needed. Not more words.
