Here is a video from our collaboration with clarinetist and saxophonist Patrick Bartley. "Si tu vois ma mère" was written in 1952 by New Orleanian clarinetist Sidney Bechet. The lyrics are by Jean Broussolle.
It is the soundtrack to the opening sequence of Woody Allen's movie "Midnight in Paris".
Filmed live at the Keep in Brooklyn by Edward Bally and Stephen Lamarche. -
I lost my mum to cancer complications a couple years ago, but before she went I sent her this song to say, 'I love you'. I hope she knew.
I'm here because of Midnight in Paris.
When your Cafe just needs quiet beautiful French music to sip your Cafe au lait with a beautiful pastry..this is the music that I want to listen to..
I can just see Bogie and Bergman in a French club listenibg to Tatiana and her Jazz Band. What a pleasure to listen to them perform. You do not have to understand French to appreciate the music.
"When I think of you, I don’t know why but straight away I see a garden full of flowers where you smiled at me when I left - do you remember? Since that time, I travel and on every route, I forever see your kind face like a never-ending dream that crosses my mind. As time goes by, the wind of forgetfulness passes in silence erasing nothing. Mama, you know nothing will change/break the past. I will remember your eyes until my final day. Mama, my most tender love."
Laird Sky-Thanks for giving us the translation. When I read the word "maman" I thought it was just an expression since I had not read the full lyrics another partner gave us, although my French vocabulary is not so extense...yet. It was when I read your mail that I realized it was dedicated to the mother. Lovely song with much of New Orleans concerning its creators, which really pleased me. There is even a part that briefly reminds me of "Tenderly". Everything is great: the singer, the musicians, the song and this channel-just met, to which I also subscribed-and many of the E-mailers, too. A big THANK YOU AND BEST WISHES to you all!!!
thank you Laird.
Thank you
is it translating of the song?
Thank you ❤
I don't know but when I listen to French music I always have a warm sence and unknown love in my heart 🌷
Sense honey. It is not a word with a c in it.
and smoke a joint
Alireza Golestaneh that’s what they call ‘romantic’ bro
Alireza Golestaneh same here
The moment she start singing i got goosebumps
A brilliant example of "less is more" - uncluttered and clean with superb musicians.
Bravo!
But... there's simply the right amount of notes.. no less no more :)
This shows that there is still true talent in this world. All of the musicians performed beautifully, and the arrangement is perfect.
Just great to listen to. Thank You.
exactly......
They haven’t disappointed yet. Why are they not famous?!? I could listen to they all day. Vocal and instrumental perfect!
I like the silence that is all around this song.
I like this expression...!
You said it right. So little of that in music now. The silence forces you to savour the sound.
What a fantastic, poetic, exact to the point, way of putting it.
@@CanadianStilettoBabeand savor the sound indeed.
She exudes sweetness with beauty. The musicians exercise such admirable restraint. I can see why Woody Allen chose this clarinetist for his soundtrack. Such a lovely performance.
Woody chose the original recording by Sidney Bechet for his soundtrack - you are about 65 years off - but yes Patrick Bartley plays beautifully here
Listening to Jazz music during Quarantine days: a mood ♥
Amen! It's why I clicked on this video! I'm so relaxed right now! God bless! ♥️🙏
Nothing really hits ya more than sitting near Ya window while letting this symphony play.

Quand je pense à toi,
Soudain je revois
Je ne sais pourquoi le jardin fleuri
D'où tu m'as souri
Quand je suis partie
Souviens-toi
Depuis ce temps je voyage
Et sur toutes les routes
À jamais ton doux visage
Qu'un rêve effleure, demeure
Car le temps qui fuit
Au vent de l'oubli
Passera sans bruit sans rien effacer
Maman tu le sais
Rien ne peut changer le passé
Je me souviendrai

saxophrage-I was going to ask for the lyrics when I saw your marvelous work. Although I saw the word "maman" (mother), I had not read enough to realize that this is a song dedicated to the mother until I read part of the translation someone else did. Thanks to both and God bless you!
Merci merci merci 💛
saxophrage oh man, I miss my mom ;(
thanks but i cant even pronounce one of them :(
thanks you,.
She has great phrasing and breath control. The clarinet player is wonderful and the other musicians deserve to be complimented as well. C❤❤❤
And she looks in the camera like she's looking at you that's the way
Thank you for noting the clarinet! I was taken by the violinist myself. Love the clean, yet emotional dynamics. And of course la chanteuse was Fabulous!i
effortless singing
Yes, I think we would all agree with that.
Tatianna bonds with each song so that interpretation is never lost or obscured. She FEELS where every pause and every breath should be taken. Her singing is pristine! 🤗❤️
This is one of the most beautiful and uplifting French songs I've ever heard. I looked up the lyrics and never knew what they meant until now. Love you mom.
This band is off the charts. Every member so heartfelt. I am so happy to have found Avalon Jazz Band. And Tatiana, your presence is so honest and sincere. Thank you.
Hi Annamaria how are you. Greetings from Ireland ☘️. It’s great music 🎼. Wish you a lovely weekend 😊🙏 Michael

I already see it 05 times. Sorry, don't english very well
I'm here right after watching it 😁
Please collaborate with Patrick more often! His clarinet was fabulous. I loved the duet between the violin and clarinet. Lovely, soothing song all around.
I second this - he's excellent!
I liked the duet too. It was really good, flowing and natural.
Thank you! Patrick is wonderful indeed.
Pat is the best!
100% agree about the duet!
Honestly, Tatiana has THE most beautiful voice I have ever heard.
Completely unforced, she makes it sound so effortless.
An absolute joy.
Thank you. You make this planet more bearable ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
ESTE PLANETA C'EST MAGNIFIQUE. SON EL GÉNERO HUMANO QUIEN LO MACHACA Y ÉL SE REVELA DE LA FORMA QUE PUEDE EN CADA CASO. LA TIERRA NUNCA MORIRÁ PORQUE SE REVELARÁ SIEMPRE. MIRA EL VOLCÁN CANARIO CÓMO VOMITA Y LE QUITA A LA GENTE LO QUE ES SUYO.
CREO Q LA TIERRA ES EL MEJOR PLANETA. LA PRUEBA ESTÁ EN LAS VISITAS DE ENTES DE OTROS LARES Y A LO LARGO DEL TIEMPO.
LA TIERRA NUNCA MORIRÁ PERO LE HA LLEGADO EL TIEMPO DEVREJUVENERSE, CON O SIN CAMBIO CLIMÁTICO.
im hip, we havent heard a american singer all day
Ditto, over here!!
Linda Ronstadt in her day.
she has the softest most pleasant voice in the world. i could listen to her sing for ages and ages and never get tired of it. so wonderful and pure
Everyone be quiet, the mademoiselle is singing.
Oui!, do ,ave a Dubonnet!

SE ESCUCHA HERMOSA LA VOZ DE LA MUJER Y SU GRUPO .....DE MEXICO ... SALUDOS
This is one of the most perfect songs ever, beautifully sung, wonderful musicians. Brings tears to my eyes.
"This is unbelievable, there's no city like this in the world. There never was... "😍
The music and the vibe are teleporting me to 1930s to 1950s France. I can see an outdoor cafè at the plaza and there's also a flowershop near it and a couple of parked bicycles along. Lovely sight for me.
I don't know why I am smiling. She just makes me smile.
Good for you. It's so beautiful that makes me cry

So mellow and luscious like a lazy summer stroll in the Jardin Des Tuileries.
bring the dried figs, camembert and wine rosé
we will meet around sunset time :)
That’s so poetic, thank you!
@@TatianaEvaMarieOfficial YOU GUUS ARE INCREDIBLE! Love all the way from South Africa
One could fall in love with this beautiful young Lady! Fascinating singing!
She's like a French Snow White with a beautiful voice.
lol, she did a more recent video during coronavirus singing a Snow White song: ruclips.net/video/UEx_QmshBCc/видео.html
Oh yea she is isn't she 💓😉
When this music first hit me in Midnight in Paris, I just stunned or was like hit by a car with the beauty of this jazz song and again, I exactly have had the same experience as before when this singer lady zoomed up and began the song with her wonderful voice.
Cela me rend fière de ma langue🇫🇷🇫🇷
This song carried me back to France.
God bless the person who curated this song into Midnight in Paris.
Woody Allen is a huge bechet fan and “curates” all music on his movies
I love how during the instrumental break she just appreciates the music as well! This is so sweetly made.
those French R's sooo insistent yet so gentle.....beautiful...
I don't understand French, but so relaxing music.
Omg the clarinet is absolutely otherwordly !!
Zizou Laval-That is what made me give the "like", even before the girl started her beautiful interpretation. And that initial dialogue with the violin!
home quarantined and this is a blessing
Same for me here in Bayonne, France
same
I have watched this at least 3 dozen times. It just keeps getting more powerful. Thank You Avalon Jazz Band.
Is it the French language, which I don’t really understand, that makes melodies come out alive? I mean music in French is mind blowing, and I can’t help but smile 😊
I don't know what she saying , But there's something about a women voice singing in French that so beautiful.....
One reason to learn French. ;)
Mario Avila it’s a song about loving your mum 🤗
Oh my lawd, when I'm 80 years old and remembering life it will be to this song and with these beautifully talented musicians!
Midnight in París Woody Allen. Sonice
Wow!!!
A good coffee' Latte with one pump of chocolate, a good book or magazine, and this wonderful tune... What more do you need
This is magical.
And finally a female voice that is natural and nice. 👍
agreeded!
Art of MGTOW check out Tuba Skinny.
That clarinet!!! wonderful music by the band!
At last, real music makes a comeback. Talent wins out.
Finally, my six (non consecutive) years of studying French has brought me here to this moment. ❤️
La clarinette... D'outre monde... Et la chanteuse, quelle "petite fleur" 😉
lovely--kudos to all, especially the singer...tres deliceux!...very funny how the camera loves the clarinetist, even when the violinist is soloing....life is sooo unfair...
Le clarinettiste joue comme je respire !
Patrick Bartley is a virtuoso modern "Renaissance Man". He can do anything, and does it all.
This song reminds me of an early afternoon stroll in the springtime through the French Quarter in New Orleans whilst eating French pastries and window shopping.
bella French windows perhaps?
When exactly is Spring in New Orleans?
Je reviens écouter encore chaque fois quand je pense à ma mère.
This charming song was use for the opening sequence of the movie 'Midnight in Paris'. I fell in love of both, the song and the movie. I recommend the movie, beautiful.
A glass of wine and a cigar, in a dark room, listening to such a wonderful voice and musical arrangement. Wow!
gstone1964 last evening in the soothing company of summer breeze I took sip of wine called Jacobs creek and started gliding myself away in the rivulet of french fantasy.
A jug of wine and thou under the bough.........and I'm in heaven.
This music makes me drop all my worries and sit down a spell to rest, relax and enjoy the moment. Thank you, Beautiful music, artists and performance
exact the same feeling.
Very good clarinetist!!
Wow the lyrics bring me to tears, how strange. What a beautiful song of tender love for a mother. Beautiful! (I'd listen to that kind of music all day!)
That's true! A song for the mother, and so sweet.
I am so obsessed with this song, not even joking
Oh my God, absolutelly gorgeous, amazing voice and the musitian are perfect!
For all I know she could be singing her grocery list . . . but it sure moves me. Beautiful.
A.J.B. has made me fall in love with Jazz. . . all over again!!

Love Tatiana and the Avalon Jazz Band amazing singer and wonderful musicians.
I just love the mood. I love her beautiful voice. I love all the instrument players. Just love everything I hear and see from here. Thanks for sharing this beauty!
I love this Avlon jazz band. Tatiana sings smooth beautiful.
"Maman...mon plus tendre amour" 💌
Tout en douceur ! Une voix parfaire pour ce style ! Génial .... clin d’œil du Québec.
Le talent, la classe, l'humanité, votre groupe est vraiment merveilleux. Et quel honneur rendu à ma langue maternelle, si douce et si élégante ! Merci.
Danke. Grazie. Efkaristo. Gracias.
That clarinet solo omggg
this lady melted my soul with her voice and her beauty 😩😩
Toujours un véritable régal de vous écouter. Merci.
Merci pour votre soutien 🌞
Is there another button other than just "like" or "favourite" this song? Sultry, evocative Piaf, amour with spring in the air...maybe a café near Montmatre? So romantic!
Thats a legend priceless piece of music.
Midnight in Paris😍
That was just lovely. Often the band can over play a song. The blend between the band and singer was just right. Thanks.
Tatiana Eva-Marie and musicians in the Avalon Jazz Band and especially Sidney Bechet, until hearing you today I had forgotten how much I loved listening to french sung so beautifully.
Very good clarinetist player Amazing Thanks
Thje jazz music once was melodic and pleasant to hear...
This singer charms me, I fallen in love with her looks, voice, and overall being. Now that clarinet player, he's a master of his instriment. To love traditional jazz is our greatest love other than God and our families, plus others we love and care about. I'm 64 and remember being in love and young.
Only thing lacking is a trombone.
I have listened to many performances of this group. For me, this one stands out among the rest as capturing a magical musical moment where the musicians are together in the zone. There is the background atmosphere of the room. The opening instrumental dialogue between the violin and clarinet, which continues with great skill throughout the song without distracting from the singer. The singer, who sings closer to the camera and is more restrained than at other times, yet has a great physical presence and poise conveyed through facial composure and direct eye contact into the camera. Much of the magic and meaning is in the eye, which is close enough to see the reflection. I enjoy some of the deeper richer lower tones of the singer, which is not always evident in the singer's more cheerful songs. During the instrumental interlude, she turns toward the clarinetist to listen with attention. The sound quality and camera work are excellent.
I cried the first time I heard this, and my eyes are wet now.
So beautifully said!
Tissue doesn't work for me.
Cloth handkerchiefs are better.
I'm too old for the French Foreign Legion.
I could start my own French Foreign Leggionaires.
Colonel Francois Minervois! Tatiana would be our Inspire.
Seriously, a great battleship should be named La Tatiana Eva-Marie.
This is portraying a short time in human kind that was kind and healthy virtues were in people's hearts.
Art of MGTOW - Surely, Art, you would agree that kind and healthy virtues dwell in the hearts of U. S. Senators Marco Rubio, Lindsey Graham, Mitch McConnell and President Trump in these turbulent times.
Thanks.
If u have ever visited Montreal in the fall..or the wonderful hills overlooking that Lake in Quebec...u will understand the beauty of this music..
I have never been in Canada but I would really love to visit there in the future😃 As I said you I didn’t go there but I’m pretty sure that I will understand the beauty of this music when I go there😊Take care of yourself🌸🌸🌸
the best for Saturday morning!
