Just stumbled upon this video - immediate subscription. Straight talk and to the point along with a detailed explanation on what to expect from different headphones... What more could you ask for? Thank you for this man.
Sadly Astros are probably the best sounding headphones marketed as "gaming" headphones too. One time I heard Turtle Beach headphones after everyone was telling me how they were the best thing ever and I thought something was wrong with them because of how bad they sounded. Been rocking the Samson SR950 reference headphones for gaming for years now and they blow any gaming set I've ever heard out of the water. They go for as low as $45 sometimes too.
Was sent this because I had a logitech headset almost blow out my hearing out of nowhere. Going to return it since it should still be covered and get myself something that won't permanently deafen me.
I've been in the market for a new pair of "gaming" headphones and in doing my research I came across this and after watching this video for a week on and off and about 10+ fricken times I broke down and bought the M40X's with the ZMF cow hide pads and replacement wire (along with a case to protect my new babies) Thanks for saving me from buying some RGB bullshit headphones some keyboard company makes Zeos. New sub for life!
Great vid. Looked it up after my headphones started dying. Ordered Senn's 660s and scarlett solo gen3 for my gaming music and movies. Subbed and liked and your my guide regarding any "sound" questions! Thanks mate! Cheers from Croatia!
I liked and subbed as soon as you said "the maker of your keyboard shouldn't be making fucking audio equipment". Love it man. Great vids and reviews. I'm a die hard gamer and came here searching for a new headset.
The Battlefield games have amazing audio design. Great dynamic range and realistic localizing of sources in the xy plane. However, not so much in z-plane. Overwatch is really good too. Right now I'm using a HD600 and an external headphone amp.
This is my first time watching a video of yours and not even 10 mins in I love the no bullshit approach on every item you talk about. I’m one of the unfortunate souls trying to be an “audiophile gamer” so this content got me clicking quicker than a 14 year old with unrestricted internet access. What are your thoughts on some of my gear? Schiit stack amp/dac Senn 6xx Ikko oh10 Elgato wave 3 I just got the oh10s literally this week and I purchased them primarily bc: 6xx is no “bass monster” Not the best sound stage for 6xx I wanted to try an IEM for gaming that can provide a decent soundstage and pump some bass for specific track music listening.
Once you go true audiophile level headphones for games, you cant go back. once you hear an A10 Warthog doing a strafe with truly nice headphones... as Archer says: "STOP! I CAN ONLY GET SO ERECT!" I had a $150 Logitech "Gamer Headset", got some Sennheiser $200 cans... Its as big of a difference in change as going from HDD to SSD. it really is night and day. You go from "that gunfire is coming from somewhere on my front right", to "sounds like a short barreled rifle, about 40 degrees to the right, about 100m away, from above?" an entry level audiophile set of headphones will completely change your level of situational awareness in games. You also gain a new appreciation for the music in games too. you dont even need to spend all that much, spend as much on the proper headphones that you would have spent on the GAMER headset, and you are generally golden. You tend to learn, anything that has the GAMER word attached to it, often is overpriced, and not the best option if you care about PERFORMANCE, especially for the price.
This video is hilarious. I've had a wireless gaming headset for years [corsair 2100] and I'm a huge music nerd. Only now have I seen the light and ordered the SHP9500, an amp/dac and the v-moda boompro.
OH MY GOD are you interesting to listen to, you could talk about any boring ass shit and I'd still be here glued to the audio frequencies.. Do some podcast, voice over or voice acting shit man.. Hell even do some ASMR shit talking about whatever. DAMN does your experience TRUMP these 'audiophiles' of today who read a little on reddit and self qualify. LOVE you bro.
So, @ZReviews, can I ask for a recommendation? I need closed back cause that's what I'm used to. I'm a big "casual" gamer, dark souls, total war, doom, halo etc etc. But I also super into hardcore games, cause i love playing valorant and Seige. I'm a casual who still wants hi fidelity, I feel like being a "casual gamer" means you have lower standards; i still want really hi fi, i do not have low standards. I'm a big big music guy, I love my music. Everything except country, so lots of bass is good But I'm also a very big gamer, not always the most competitive stuff, but I do play those as well (Valorant and R6 Seige). I just bought, and then returned cause it sucks, a Corsair Void Elite Wireless headset with 7.1 surround. Was super comfy for a while but it ended up being way too heavy on my head and hurt after a while. Moreover, there was a faint fuzzing I noticed that happened during any game I played. I mainly just like things to 1:sound great, and 2: be comfortable (particularly for glasses wearers). I was looking for a built in mic headset that surpasses my Blue Snowball, but unfortunately the mic quality of the Void was sub par. I realize now that headsets are fucking dumb, and that the real money is in owning a quality pair of headphones with a standup mic to get your voice cause attachable mics arent that good (except for the one you attached to the Phillip's, my buddy has that mic and hes good most the time but it also has some shitty inconsistencies in sound when I hear him, he'll crackle or be distant). So what would you recommend cause I honestly cannot narrow it down cause theres too many options. What do you think of Audio Technicas or Marshall headphones? I saw a couple pairs yesterday running 250+ dollars here in Canada, but I feel like those are actually for studio musicians, which isnt really what I need. I just need really hi fi sound with music and gaming, and good imaging too if it has it, not like the most competitive sound, just good sound in general. Sound stage I guess. But I like to have both so that I can play FPS' too. Also, do I really need to plug it into that interface little box thing? I also have no fcking idea what my sound card is, and I dont know why you said that one rectangle would destroy my sound card, is that something I have to take into account? Cause I'm also looking for wireless headphones preferably cause fuck wires. Also 35:20 WHY ARE THEY SO GOOD?? Alright, just finished the video. No more wireless. I just hated pushing my previous headphone wires off of me, and I liked standing up, walking around my house talking on discord. But the sound seems to be worse as you said. That said though, what do you think on "gaming headsets" not made by keyboard companies? It seems like every streamer is wearing a pair of Hyper X or Logitech headphones. I've heard logitech is garbage, but what about the Hyper X Clouds everyone is wearing?
This is a great video. Zeos does an amazing job explaining things. Even if you're not a gamer there is a lot of good information on how to make good setup for listening to music. Thanks Zeos!!
I’ve been thinking about getting a pair of hd58x’s, would you guys recommend it? For gaming? I into gaming and mostly rainbow six, and I’ve been looking for a good pair for a while now. And for the price!
BigAceIII absolutely they are great for gaming and music, I have trouble deciding which I like to game in more my m1060s or the 58x. (It’s probably the 58x for serious gaming like rainbow six)
02:21 I need my glowing "Gamer" keyboard and mouse to look cool and I like to see it. I never see my headset. No-one looks at my headset when I'm playing games. So it doesn't need the "Gaimyn ARE GEE BEE"
@4:16... "You get sold a line of dialogue from companies who want to sell you $5 headphones for $200. And it's like, 'Well, if you wanna win, you gotta obviously have this... gaming headset'" Gaming headset companies' marketing teams are the real MVPs
Quit round of squad, finish video that is loaded, get auto-suggested into a Z review (which I already love) and find out you play Squad! Sick man. Post Scriptum's audio is amazeballs too if you haven't tried it yet! (You're even getting a full view out of me while I eat dinner even though this isn't relevant to me as I have an HD800S and a Mobius stack.)

@@putrid2529 he’s not an asshole it’s just a fact that they’re better, he didn’t say a budget or for the regular consumer he said the best were 58x and he was incorrect
I bought 58x's and a schiit stack because of you Z. Thank you for the awakening. Real speakers will be next year when im finished ripping apart the basement.
"As Blade" -- OOOOh So exciting!
I also bought a schiit stack because of z. Using HD598's right now but would like the HD600 eventually. Also have two jbl 305s and the 10" jbl sub to match.
I actually started with the shp9500s due to Z's bad influence. Now I'm kicking it with a pair of he560s and th-x00 ebs. They sound so good I barely even notice the fact that I now live in a cardboard box.
@@Wootguy238 Schiit stack (Modi 3 + Magni 3) is better than my Rog Crosshair VII mobo ? :D If so I'll grab it, sounds like it's good Schiit ! :P

Just stumbled upon this video - immediate subscription. Straight talk and to the point along with a detailed explanation on what to expect from different headphones... What more could you ask for? Thank you for this man.
i love listening to someone rant about something that they're passionate about
Sadly Astros are probably the best sounding headphones marketed as "gaming" headphones too.
Best decision you have made.
Congrats on your purchase
Holy crap, first time to your channel, was NOT expecting the beastly hardware arsenal... teach me sensei...
The Porsche gauge cluster on top shelf is fucking killer dude.
Dude your hilarious! "They didn't hear footsteps" so they stopped watching haha
I love this guy he’s like the smartest absolutely Meemer I’ve ever heard and I just been watching for 5 min
Im just subbing cause your battlestation is so fucking based.
Not to mention your mannerisms are entertaining
The Battlefield games have amazing audio design. Great dynamic range and realistic localizing of sources in the xy plane. However, not so much in z-plane. Overwatch is really good too. Right now I'm using a HD600 and an external headphone amp.
im so god damn happy when he said all you need is m40 and a desktop mic
im rolling that and a blue yeti blackout. eyeyeyey
6:44 "It would be nice to hear people coming"- Z Reviews
This is my first time watching a video of yours and not even 10 mins in I love the no bullshit approach on every item you talk about. I’m one of the unfortunate souls trying to be an “audiophile gamer” so this content got me clicking quicker than a 14 year old with unrestricted internet access.
What are your thoughts on some of my gear?
Schiit stack amp/dac
Senn 6xx
Ikko oh10
Elgato wave 3
I just got the oh10s literally this week and I purchased them primarily bc:
6xx is no “bass monster”
Not the best sound stage for 6xx
I wanted to try an IEM for gaming that can provide a decent soundstage and pump some bass for specific track music listening.
Once you go true audiophile level headphones for games, you cant go back.
once you hear an A10 Warthog doing a strafe with truly nice headphones... as Archer says: "STOP! I CAN ONLY GET SO ERECT!"
I had a $150 Logitech "Gamer Headset", got some Sennheiser $200 cans... Its as big of a difference in change as going from HDD to SSD. it really is night and day. You go from "that gunfire is coming from somewhere on my front right", to "sounds like a short barreled rifle, about 40 degrees to the right, about 100m away, from above?"
an entry level audiophile set of headphones will completely change your level of situational awareness in games.
Only now have I seen the light and ordered the SHP9500, an amp/dac and the v-moda boompro.
rob060 how has it been for u
@@xampleman probably the most overrated headphones of all time
I'm little bit confused, so the Corsair 2100 are the most overrated headphones and the SHP9500 are better?
@@robparedes5090 lmao imagine thinking the SPH9500's are not overrated
So do i need to buy just the shp9500 and the boom pro or do i need those other things?
This is the best fucking review I have ever seen in my goddamn life.
Another game with OMGWTF audio: Insurgency: Sandstorm.
That blew me the fuck away during the free weekend recently!
Or even the old Insurgency!
@@jarnobot I remember hearing the a10 in the first game and it made my spine tingle
I agree, Squad the sound is amazing. Most accurate AK sounds I ever heard in a game.
This was some great content. I thuroughly enjoyed these 50 minutes!
Also very informing, thank you!
Eonhunter So he’s actually done a few gaming headsets recently, take a look at his review of the hyper X cloud flights.
"a dead cow" LMAO IM DEAD...take me next, put me on your headphones
Probably the best rant-style headphone guide I've ever seen
This is a great video. Zeos does an amazing job explaining things. Even if you're not a gamer there is a lot of good information on how to make good setup for listening to music. Thanks Zeos!!
Bought the 58x the day before you put this up, waiting for it to ship now. Thanks for ruining my bank account
58x are perfect gamers, got mine a few weeks ago. Also I've got 3 of the headphones he mentioned so yea.. rip my bank account too lol
Hey! I ordered them on the same day! I feel like we are connected now.
Diet Adam welcome to the club
I’ve been thinking about getting a pair of hd58x’s, would you guys recommend it? For gaming? I into gaming and mostly rainbow six, and I’ve been looking for a good pair for a while now. And for the price!
BigAceIII absolutely they are great for gaming and music, I have trouble deciding which I like to game in more my m1060s or the 58x. (It’s probably the 58x for serious gaming like rainbow six)
This feels like I'm getting a tutorial in a video game. Amazing filming and interesting to listen to! I learned so much as well. Round of applause 👏👏
Just buy every headphone.
