Came here after watching the devs react to the 25 minute world record. Despite all the care they put into this game, I feel like they might not have intended that ladder glitch...
After playing this game for the first time, I like how if you know everything already, you can just do it. The whole point of Tunic is figuring out problems, but I think it's cool seeing how it still works as a speed run. The roll and float glitch made me laugh.
There's a new code you can enter that makes ice rod inputs cost the same as in the older patch. (The sparkles you can see around me indicate that it's active) The code: RULDDRULU (lasts 80 in-game seconds)
@@TGH ah that's clever solution to "it's OP, but speedrunners won't like if we remove it" issue. Altro for me it would be more interesting to watch a speedrun that doesn't rely on cheese (beating the Heir with either skill or by finding more berries/inverted potions)... but I doubt people would do whole new category just for that

That's quite the performance. I'd like to know, what's up with those cute characters on the bottom right, are they just changing randomly ever few seconds ?
It's a slideshow of my (main) channel's emotes! I have them there just as kind of a watermark and to look nice. My profile picture here is one of them too
Action (default A button) + attack next to a ladder/rope (if done right your character will do a weird animation) then spam roll button away and sprint (you don't want to roll more than one time, so keep button pressed once you roll). If you don't get it you can try an easier (but useless) way to check if you get the first part right by doing so : action + attack next to a ladder/rope and then spamming attack button, you'll be able to walk across the map if you keep spamming.
It depends on each gaming community, and what they decide. And even then, it depends on the run. Though, imo, I think that for an any% run that includes so much save scumming irl time should be included in the final time. But I'm not a part of the tunic running community, so I'm sure they have their reasons.
The timer pauses during loading screens because of the fact that, since everyone's PC's are different, loading times can be faster if you have a faster CPU. Pausing the timer during those times fixes the issue. The timer is paused on the menu because you are not in a game. It's convenient if you want to go on a break. Going on the pause menu in the game doesn't stop the timer. Quit and loading is used to teleport to where you last entered / rested at an area, or to skip certain cutscenes. It is also used to reset ladder floating when you enter an area during ladder floating.
equip ice dagger and magic wand, and press both buttons at the same time (it'll make a freezing projectile that costs less than using the dagger on its own)

PC is simply better to run on really, it's faster to run on a 120hz monitor (rather than 60) due to very slightly faster movement speed
