You should read Life on the Edge. You're missing exactly how odorants cause our sense of smell. There are more sense of smells than receptors in the Olfactory Epithelium. Instead of just acting as a Lock-and-Key (where a chemical fits into a receptor), there is an energy discrepancy sensor based on the chemical energy of molecules and electrons. The nose senses waves, just like the eyes and ears.
+Elin Nova Bergman We do, in fact, use After Effects for all of our animations and overlays. The audio and video are edited using Premiere. Thank you for your support!
That’s really interesting. But l got question. How do we recognize the good smell from the bad one. How do our brain know that. Would explain. Thank you
Great video, very easy to follow along. But I have a question. I have been watching a lot of science videos lately and recently discovered that the new hypothesis for smelling is by the vibrations of molecules not the typical lock and key method. Do you know anything about this? I find this all very interesting. Thank you!
Interesting. Never heard of that theory before, but a little searching shows that the vibration theory is a bit controversial. Honestly though, there is so much about these mechanisms that is still unknown. I would not doubt if there is some combination or even an alternate explanation that we have not even explored. Thanks for watching!
@@neurotransmissions There is a really good book on this called "the emperor of scent: a true story of perfume" by Chandler Burr. While I'm not convinced by his argument, it's a really good example of how science works (and doesn't work).
Hey there! I just found out about your channel and watched every single episode. Your work is amazing guys! High quality well explained videos. The animations are really great and help a lot to drive our imagination through the explanations. I have a tiny complaint though. At least for me, the music and some sound effects are as intense as Alie's voice. This sometimes drew my attention away from the animation/explanation. Keep up the good work!
+chapolin Hey there! Thank you for the kind words! We got complaints on some of our earlier vids, so we really dialed down the sound effect levels. So sorry about that. Are they still bothersome?
+Neuro Transmissions Sorry for the delay xP I checked out and it really got better! Thank you and congrats for listening to us :) Eager to see what's coming next!
+Noodle Thank you so much for watching and supporting! We're starting off with the most basic of neuroscience concepts, but have no fear - We will be diving into more complex content soon!
Please please please! Make a video on the accessory olfactory system!
Where is the olfactory epithelium located?
Thank you so much :)

I'm really enjoying your videos. They are visually appealing and easy to comprehend. Subscribed :)
+Henry Sulka What kind words! It's folks like you that make this worth it. :)
I just want to say, i freaking love your videos! I gotta ask, you use after effects, right?

Thank you so mucho for made this kind of videos, I'm from Mexico and you help me to pass my neuroscience exam. Keep doing this !!! :D
I think this is the best comment we've gotten so far! :)))) Thank you so much for watching!
excuse me , i love the video you posted but can you plz tell me which application did you use to make the editing ? plizzzz its urgent
Nour Sabbagh Thanks for watching! We use the Adobe suite. For this video, we specifically used Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and Illustrator.

Oh man almost to 1K subscribers. I think the channel is going to really take off here soon.
+Capn Cummings Awww, thanks! We just got to 1000! :D

Great channel! I would like it more if you tailored it to a slightly smarter audience. It feels like you're talking to a group of children.

I'm enjoying the basic concepts. Please don't stop these videos completely
i am not trying to be wierd
The Sound effects are distracting…
