    Hi yes good memories One of my friend had got one as first car given by his grandfather But is was à pain to drive when thé engine was cold playing with thé choke and the reviing at neutral. Every winter morning a while to warm the GS. Not efficient in town in cold but very well in thé country side for long trips Greetings

      true; the engine has to be at operating temperature before you can go driving, because with the choke you won't get it into gear. All in all, classic cars are best driven during nice weather :)

    Great condition!
    I miss my 73 GS.
    Can you tell me what the Convertisseur badge means please?
    I’ve seen one for sale here in Australia.

      It's a 3 speed manual with a torque converter so you can drive it any gear, not very efficient.

      My mum had a few manual GS, I guess the first one was older than the one in the film because the dashboard on hers was not padded on top and had a neater sliding ashtray lid, (funny the things you notice as a child) though the one in the films is quite an early model because it has the wide seats and narrow centre console. I remember my parents having four in total, unfortunately they use to rust a lot here in the UK, not much different to anything sold though at the same time.

      @@51StPi @thetiloalfa6 It is higly efficient, and, more importantly, fun and comfortable :)

    Good day! Undoubtedly a great car, but my question is: I see gears shifting while the car is moving. How is this possible with an automatic transmission? Is it possible to switch on the go ??????

    • @bobcmulder
      @bobcmulder  3 года назад +1

      Thanks Den! It's a semi-automatic gearbox, with a torque converter and three forward gears. So essentially, you just lift your foot from the accelerator, and you can shift gear. The gear lever is attached to a sensor; when you move the lever, it will 'ungear'.

      @@bobcmulder Thanks a lot Bob for your reponse! Please tell me, in this case, is it necessary to turn off the gears in the neutral position during a short stop? And is it enough to stay in second gear and keep the car pressed with the brake pedal? Thanks)

      @@dengallager No problem, Den, thanks for your interest in these beautiful, elegant and fun cars :) Indeed, when waiting for the traffic light, I put it in neutral. Personally, I don't like feeling the engine trying to pull the car away while pressing the brake for short stops. But this is less the case when you put it in 2nd, yes. Also, you can drive away in any gear you like, even in 3rd, because of the torque converter. Acceleration is slower then, obviously.

      yes. convertisseur was the original name for the C-matic, but deemed too French for international markets :)

    Mijn vader had ook 1'tje, en ik kan me nog steeds dat dashboard herinneren.
