Lovely cars to look at and to drive. The blue (bleu) is a 1015 Club from 1972, and The beige one is a 1974 Club with convertisseur (torque converter combined with a 3-speed gearbox.

It was my dream car in 1974 but I could only afford a Dyane 6. By the time I had the money the GS had gone and I didn't like the successor BX. I think the original GS was the most advanced Citroen in its time besides the DS.

I once had a Citroen GS 1220 Club in beige Tholonet too, but with a 4-speed gearbox. Mine was from 1973 and still had the first small gray GS exterior mirrors. A note to the convertisseur gearbox - later called C-Matic: You only need the 1st gear when you start on a hill or when you towing a trailer. Normaly you start in the 2nd gear, which you can use in town up to about 60 km/h and then you switch in the 3rd gear. This means, that you can drive almost fully automatically in town in the 2nd gear. I know this, because once I had a Citroen GSA Pallas C-Matic and it says so in the car's instruction. Check your GS instuction for the convertisseur gearbox to see what it says... One more thing: You should always make sure, that there is enough oil in the convertisseur gearbox and that the air-hose to the gearbox-oil-cooler is ok!! You can find relevant information on the website of the German GS-GSA-IG, which you can find on google. By the way, the convertisseur (C-Matic) gearbox needs special oil from Total. Please also look on the GS-GSA-IG website! As for the squeek from the right front suspension, all joints of the front suspension - right and left - should be completely greased with grease. The squeek is probably caused by everything there being dry and rubbing. You should do this at your other GS too!
Ik diverse oudere Citroens gereden, 2CV, TA, DSuper5, CX td, CX T2 BX trd, Xantia en C5. Helaas nog nooit een GS of GSA. Die staat nog op m'n lijstje. De SM ook niet maar dat is zo'n excoot, dat zal denk ik nooit gebeuren.
Very cool car! The Cmatic seems ideal for it. I wonder why Citroen didn't keep these instruments for the facelift, this looks so much nicer
Interestingly, UK market cars had round dials as did the Birotor until the facelift dash of the late 70,s. Like you I am keen in this dash as the instruments look futuristic.

Mon grand cousin a possédé ce modèle acheté neuf en juillet 1972, mais de couleur vert argenté avec sièges tissu assortis. Chaque ballade à son bord était un véritable plaisir: le grand confort, la sonorité du moteur prenant facilement des tours pour compenser la trop faible cylindrée, et même l'odeur. Cette bonne vidéo me rappelle ainsi d'agréables souvenirs. Ces premiers millésimes étaient à mon goût les plus jolis.
Thank you ! My aunt drove the same 50 years ago, one of the first GS half automatic from 1971. A very cunfortable car on the road, but for short trip in winter, she spent more time to start and warm up the engine than to drive 😅

Is it semi automatic?
Yes, it is. It works with a torque converter, coupled to a 3-speed manual gearbox. No clutch pedal; you only need to release the accelerator. Sensors that are engaged when you operate the gear level, will 'declutch'.

@@minutepapillon5060 Merci a vous! La boîte de vitesses BorgWarner (avec 3 vitesses !) est très fiable, car le convertisseur lui permet de moins endurer. Et les premières séries sont très fiables; en particulier l'acier de la carrosserie est de meilleure qualité, par rapport à la série après 1973/1974. Les coûts de production ont dû baisser avec le temps, donc la qualité ne s'est pas améliorée au fil des ans. Le GSA est sympa, mais la première série a le plus de charme pour moi 😀
Beige tholonet , the special metalic colour of Citroen , was in production between 9/1972 - 7/1975 ,only for the ami 8 , ami 8 super , Gs , Gs biroror , DS and SM

Algunos detalles que noté del coche: la caja de cambios de velocidades es algo dura, pero precisa. Se ubica fácilmente el lugar de cada cambio. El motor parece hacer mucha fuerza al acelerar estando detenido, lo cual es común al ser un motor boxer. Es molesto el rechinar de la suspensión a cada momento. Suena como si un plástico rechinara.
I think you're revving it a bit too high.
Aircooled and oversquared boxer engines like to rev. And I like to rev them :)

Quando avevo 7 anni mio zio compro' una GS e dopo un giro mi sono innamorato delle Citroen. Ho avuto la 2cv, la ZX e ora la C3 che con il parabrezza Zenith non ha eguali ma il mio sogno resta la DS ! Forse un giorno.....
Mi dispiace contraddirti ma da possessore di Citroen C3 con parabrezza panoramico non posso che pentirmi della scelta. Sicuramente un optional che può rivelarsi utile quando si arriva lunghi ad un semaforo e consente quindi di poter vedere sopra a sé. Purtroppo questo optional è stato costruito con scarsa cura e con materiali ancora più scadenti. Dopo solo un anno e mezzo cominciava a scricchiolare per poi successivamente rompersi a livello delle guide interne scorrevoli, anch'esse in plastica. Dopo è venuto il momento di rompersi anche per l'aletta parasole lato guida. Aletta che non aveva nemmeno la possibilità di essere sganciata come tutte, figurarsi la presenza di uno specchio e di una luce. L'auto non ha una plafoniera luce sul tetto, estremamente utile se si guida di notte e se si sosta, al buio, in cerca di qualche oggetto. Per me la C3 con quell' optional è uno dei peggiori mezzi che si potevano acquistare all'epoca, nulla a che vedere con questa GS che era una vera Citroen e non una Peugeot ricarrozzata.

Fine thank you ! My girlfriend had the same in the 80's half automatic from her grandpa. Very confortable and Nice to drive on the road But in cold winter when the GS was sleeping outside, it was hard to start and to warm up ! Good car....when you had a warm garage
