I played a game recently where a very whiny dragonair broke the goal at 8:20. Our team was pinging retreat, but the dragonair didn’t listen and broke with a 5 overcap (so it wasn’t even a huge brake). For the rest of the game, that dragonair wandered around the map, trying to get levels; while the enemy team was 5 man top for 80% of the game. Our top lane got absolutely overwhelmed and destroyed. By the time the dragonair made it to top path, the enemy team was already 2-3 levels ahead of them. It didn’t evolve into a dragonite until about 4:30, and had been essentially feeding the enemy team while it tried to get farm on the enemy side. The dragonite spam pinged “thanks” the entire game after they self-sabotaged 🙄
@kalelandes8041 huge assumptions are being made here and I think you are forgetting some things 1. we're talking about a Nintendo game, that means a decent proportion of the playerbase is like ages 8-14, not exactly the demographic for skill 2. mobile players already have a hard enough time being competitive 3. there are a lot of subtle mechanics in this game that aren't very apparent and easy to miss for a lot of players and the game doesn't really spell it out for you I think a lot of these things actually lowers the average skill expression of players in this game and that means someone who may have some decent micro skill but zero macro skills can make it to high ranks. This isn't really something the devs can fix with a simple change other than slowing down how fast you can rank and putting more penalties in for losing but that just makes the whole experience dreadful for everyone, Overwatch has been a prime example of that.
Speaking of Overcap, even in 1500s there's still people who can't count (I know that most unite player aren't the brightest). There's so many instances where all of the team is in the goal zone but that person with the least amount of point take the goal instead. Right now, my biggest irk is the toddlers. People who throw the biggest tantrum because of losing a lane too quickly. They sabotage their teammates by taking all the farm and then proceed to feed the enemy. Oh and they went afk too when losing ray.
Wow you are lucky man, mine go AFK as soon as they lose path. Like they steal, fuck with team, go feed and die and then after a spam they go AFK before 5. Once it happened with a trio that were just shit and the 3 just DCd early on, so early in fact that the other player and me could not vote to surrender. So we kept playing with bots, as we kept going, they sometimes tried to connect again and were sent back to the game just to DC again 😅
I will say for this some people try to panic score incase the big scorer doesn’t have time. Or even your small points don’t break but someone with even less sneaks in the make yours break. Sometimes you have time to react sometimes you really don’t. But I get the main point is 1:1 and the smaller points breaks over you which is annoyinf
Another thing you forgot to mention is the fact that breaking the top lane goal gives the enemy team three bunnies, while breaking the bot lane goal only gives two bunnies. This makes the bot lane more important to defend and push than the top lane.
On the flip side if you’re the team who’s goals get broken you have to realize that if you just stay back and farm, make a play for an objective together, then farm you’ll be in a great spot
Here are two lesser known but universal rules of Unite. 1 is that teammates will ignore your pings, even if you're a defender or supporter. 2 is that you can always count on your team to self-sabotage. Get good enough to win even in those situations.
Little known strat fact: if you break the goal after 7:20 the next bird farm will appear in the middle of the lane as usual. But if you break the goal BEFORE 7:20, the next farm will appear on the ENEMY side of the lane! AND 30 seconds earlier! Be patient and never break T1 before 7:20!
Well, this is one of the reason why I don't really care to defend when my tier one goal is broken because it never makes that big of an impact anyway and it could be a positive impact since I can come back from it. Goodness me, it only players knew but then again, Unite players refuse to learn from the best.
Defend the base is not a bad move expecially if u have hoopa, the problem is that people who takes advantage should invade enmy jungle and farm avoiding risky plays in the lanes and take the lead as much as possible without give enemies experience
That is why its still a double edged sword since I actually get experience anyway but the reasons you said describes it as well. Besides, I would never bother to defend it after the first Regis during the mid game if the overcap is actually pitifully small.
@kalelandes8041 And besides, I am in Master Rank because I do have a way with mons with skills and never main anyone since I am flexible with what I play.
On the flip side, I see a lot of my teams fight tooth and nail to defend T1 goals all the way through a match. Especially the top one. Never makes sense to me. It's only 80 points capacity and if it breaks we get extra exp the entire rest of the match to catch up/get ahead.
What I always like to try to do is make sure one of our goals is broken while having their bottom goal broken. Reason is bottom regi is just way more valuable then rotom regi, so i tend to let top goal go which gives us exp and better set up for both objective. Of course this doesn’t happen often because players still don’t understand the value of exp as I had a tsareena who wasn’t lv6 till after bot obj was taken lol
2:26 OMG this happened to me so many times. I end up alone on bottom path pinging like crazy to defeat the bottom regi, while my teammates just leave the advantage..
I LOVE when I get teammates that NEVER rotates bottom but the opponent literally 4 man's the bottom objective... it's even more FRUSTRATING that the same teammates fails TOP objective like if you LOSE the top objective 3 vs 1... just uninstall
I see it alot, and when I let a enemy broke one of our low goal with least over cap, to get more exp then lane deci/cinder/greninja would get mad and they would probably be the one who broke goal early with no overcap. And before people start coming at me with torches I only do this when we have broken enemy goal early.
I disagree with the logic of you HAVE to go on the enemy side of the map just because you broke their top and bot goals. What happened at 4:15 is exactly what I usually see happen when ppl do that. You were worried about the enemies just farming up levels but then y'all gave away a bunch of experience anyway with that strategy. I personally prefer my team to be guarding goals, contesting neutrals and picking off stragglers as they make their way to our top and bot goals and getting extra experience that way. I also 1000% agree that I hate when players break bot and all run top before bot regi is taken. Idk why ppl do that.
Something i don't really like much is when the opposing team makes these macro mistakes too because it made me win a game i didn't really deserve to win
I played a game where a leafon kept running into the other team, outnumbered. I kept pinging retreat, but they thought they could 1v3. They then kept spamming thanks when ever they died..
You gotta figure: the same players who don't understand the catch-up mechanics of the game are the same ones who give up on a very winnable match after both their tier 1's are broken.
You should show a video where your team doesn’t win because they break a goal early. There are some people who are going to watch this and say “but hey, you won still. So, what’s the problem?”
This happened to me so many times a recent one was where i was a top path blastoise and my jungler (zeraora)ganked top and it was successful and he got to stack some too(if he had to idk what his items where)Then something bizzare happened my team from bot run towards top and just broke the goal and they started to take our junglers farm and went back to bot What happened then is the experience that was at top was gone and i couldn't evolve to blastoise and it was a risky move but when i checked our opponents where at the bot path and i knew it was a chance to take their farm and i got to lvl7 and then to8 successfully but my teammates died both cuz of the 5 man push and they were pinging me cuz i didn't go with them Let me ask you is a lvl6 wartortle or a lvl7orlvl9 blastoise is better to have and in the end we somehow won Forgot to mention that one of the bot path people who ran to top went afk (glaceon)
almost lost a draft game bcuz i had a gold badge cinder who killed the first two goals before getting either of the tier 1’s. also the scores were one overcap by 4 and the other was an exact score on bot 😵😵😵
There’s so much to be said about macro, or lack thereof from players in Unite. What irritates me is how so many people prioritize Regieleki and yet have no clue how to manage it. Example 1, enemy tier 1 goal is at or below 20 and we secure Eleki. Then you see the player that snagged it try to frantically score their 40 points only for Leki to break it. Example 2, enemy tier 1 goal is fresh at 80, but the team fights and tries to break it. We’re now in a position where we have to win multiple team fights in order to break tier 1, win Leki, and then attempt to push tier 2 with it. It’s such a greedy play that never works out. In the end we not only fail to break it but we lose 1 team fight and the enemy secures Leki and happens to overcap our goal. Please don’t get greedy; just get the objective off the map and try to just use Leki to pressure tier 1 and attempt to overcap that goal.
ok Cris I wanna understand something how do you win this game? By scoring right? Then why are you running around with 50 points and not scoring you do that 2 times and just die without scoring and complain when you didn't win the game And now you want people to not break goals wich clearly means you winning, smh what a griefer
U cant win just by scoring at high level ranked. U need to also outlevel them in teamfights. Yeah u win by scoring but how would u even score if enemy just outlevels u and get every objectives? Game ain't all about scoring my dude
Since you didn’t use punctuation your comment comes off as agreeing with Cris. Yes you have to score right, or in other terms, you said “by scoring correctly”. Bravo. Scoring too early, incorrect. Scoring at the benefit of the team, when enemy team doesn’t have time to capitalize on catch up experience, correct.
95% of the time it’s by taking Rayquaza. And in order to take Rayquaza you’re going to have to team fight. And the best way to win a team fight is by being higher levels than your opponents. Hence, breaking goals too early gives the enemy team alot of experience which actually hurts your team

Yup. And it doesn't matter HOW MANY TIME you ping stop fighting enemies and focus on farming, they just ignore you. ;___;
And then they ping you for not dying with them together lol

The only time it’s okay to break the goal early is when they have hoopa portal, they’ll have less map control and make rotations a bit longer
On the flip side if you’re the team who’s goals get broken you have to realize that if you just stay back and farm, make a play for an objective together, then farm you’ll be in a great spot
