Do y'all remember ever doing a project like this for your mama for Mother's Day?
Nope! Way too long ago. The eighties were rough on me. LOL!!
I remember doing a cookbook like that. You need to make Bulldog brittle. It is kind of like that but you have to use a stick of butter and a stick of margarine. It can't be two sticks of butter do right. You leave the graham crackers together in this recipe and put pecans all over it and then pour the butter sugar mixture on top of it it is so delicious and addictive eating it...
7 ounces graham crackers (1/2 box )1⁄2 cup butter (1 stick)1⁄2 cup margarine (1 stick)1⁄2 cup sugar1 cup pecans (chopped)
Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil, 10 ½ x 15 ½.Cover with graham crackers (whole honey graham crackers).Chop 1 cup pecans and sprinkle evenly over crackers.In a boiler, melt 1 stick butter and 1 stick of margarine (only this combination will do!).Add ½ cup sugar, stirring constantlyBoil for exactly 2 minutes.Pour or spoon over crackers and pecan (I find it better to use a big spoon).Bake at 350 for approximately 12 minutes.Cool and break into pieces.1 box of graham crackers is enough to make 2 batches of brittle.You can also try it with Oatmeal Crunch Graham Crackers or Chocolate Graham Crackers.
Hi Paula yes. We wrote letters to our mom on that big stay in the lines paper and I turned out to be a writer because of that. We folded it, stapled it tog and drew a big flower on it. 🙃 So in moving a lot my mom lost all those things, but I have them right here in my head to think back on and to tell my grandchildren what I did for my mom. It's a little hard to follow with Paula talking too. Kinda makes Eddie have to jump around in subjects while trying to stay on track
My grandma used to make these for us, the topping was sliced almonds. Love the mother's day recipe book! So sweet.
I love when we get to see Handsome Eddie. Such a sweet guy. I remember my freshman year in high school I had typing class on a typewriter. The next year we got computers and dial up internet. I had the morning class so we had to boot up our computers a section of the class at a time because everyone trying to boot up at once would “overwhelm” the internet and it wouldn’t connect. Now kids don’t even carry books, they carry tablets

Can we make similar books for dads that like to cook? You're talking about "mimeograph machines" I remember seeing those in school. Think computers, printers & xerox machines have replaced them. Blast from the past! These are the same goodies my Aunt used to make & they are delicious!

Just my opinion: Eddie’s a treasure who’s so laid back Paula & Teresa jump in to pick up the pace (interrupt). I remember many of us kids smelling the mimeographed paper, we liked the smell hope it wasn’t bad for us

Came to make a comment about my 1st thought watching was smelling those papers, and why is there always someone take takes a fun thread & goes snarky?!?! If there were rules here that wouldn't happen!! (OR if you were raised by MY Mom!!!)
As to what I came for, man I'd love to smell one of those mimeographed papers again....along with burning fall leaves. Ah childhood smells now gone. And I love how chill Eddie is...I think he did a great job! I follow a few super slow talking channels and I would love to give them coffee, but he wasn't that slow. Just in comparison to others in the room LOLOL My take was Paula was more of being a "Mother hen" helping her dear Eddie in a rare "in front of camera moment" But he was flying just fine!

Mother made something similar: 1 C butter and 1 C. brown sugar, boiled for 2 mins. while stirring. Add one C. chopped pecans. Spoon on graham crackers and bake 10 mins. at 350 F.

Start with 25 Graham crackers. Put on cookie tray. Melt 1/2 pound of butter with 1/2 cup of sugar. Stir well. Spoon over the graham crackers. Top with choices of peanuts, mini chocolate chips, crumbled toffee. Bake in 350° oven for 9 minutes

EDDIE! That book is precious! I make and teach how to make handmade books, and a friend gave me some full rolls of handmade wallpaper from the 1920's. They found it in the attic of a historic home they bought here in Eureka Springs Arkansas.
I covered all my books back then with this beautiful wallpaper; many rolls were hand screened and included fancy gold painted filigree designs.
I enjoy watching you on Paula's channel. Thank you for all your work behind the scenes, too.

When my oldest son was in 6th grade his teacher got all the student bring their favorite recipe to school. Unknown to me my son got a recipe out of my box and took it to school and in his handwriting copied the recipe. The teacher then copied the them and each student made a cover and all recipes were put together. It was a Christmas gift. I was so surprised as my son never let on about it. He is now 52 and I still use it. When I look at all the recipes in it it brings back a lot of memories.

That is a wonderful gift and I bet you learned a lot making it. I remember making several really neat mother's Day presents, this one looks even cooler than most of the ones my teachers help me make sure remember the teachers that I learned best from somehow you just clicked with them. I'm actually saving this one will be pulling it out sounds like it would be neat to pull out some of those other recipes and give them a try too

That reminded me of your peanut butter fudge type dessert. I use to make it and it was always a big hit. It was so good!
It was made with butter, peanut butter, vanilla and powder sugar and nuts. At least this is what I remember.
I always melted dark chocolate with a little butter and poured it on top.
Do you remember this recipe? It would be good to see just how it's made again.

Memerograph machines! When Eddie was making his precious cookbook, I was a third year teacher at Ft. Valley High School.
By this time we did have Xerox machines for making copies, but the secretary guarded that thing with her life and copies were precious. I was teaching special education, and I liked to make worksheets that were applicaple to real life for my students. They loved them and the fact that they weren't working out of children's books. I discovered a memeograph machine and a mountain of supplies stashed away in a little 4' X 4' closet. The principal gave me his blessing and it was mine, all mine! " Tony and Betty wanted to make macaroni and cheese for the family reunion. If one box of macaroni feeds 8 people, and there will be 106 people at the reunion; how many boxes will they need?" ( I always used my students names.❤ Loved them all.) I digress! The memeograph machine. It was MY secret. So I left it in that closet. I didn't want to run out of sacred supplies. So, during planning or lunch, I'd go down there and crank out copies. Yep. You had to hand crank the machine. (The memeograph machines I remember from my school days were electric.) So, I am in this tiny dark closet cranking out big stacks of class work. Those fumes would make me woozy. Whewie! I am proud to say that my class that year jumped an average of 3 grade levels in reading! Thanks to you and Eddie for the memory.
