  • Ten dives from the Crown Point area in Tobago with Undersea Tobago based in the Coco Reef Resort. Diving from the Caribbean and the Atlantic, including the Maverick wreck. Conditions were a bit murky and had some surge, but great seahorse and rarely seen short nosed batfish. Filmed with a GoPro11 and either a red filter or Mares Video Lights set.

I dived Tobago ten years ago. Really enjoyed it. Filming underwater isn't easy but you did a great job. Thanks for sharing.

I'm also commenting as I watch. Geri, you have perfectly captured what I'll call the ballet of undulating grasses. Mesmerizing. Thank you. Someone may have described it like this in the past!
This is the best video although they are all superior

Hi Gerry, Thank you so much I've been having such a difficult time describing to others what I see when I snorkel and free dive in Tobago so I'm sharing your video to all my friends. I grew up in Tobago and didn't realize till just last year(2022) Christmas, when I bought my first set of snorkel, mask and fins, what lay out in the sea literally 5 minutes from my former back yard in Mt Irvine. When I first looked below the water's surface I was simultaneously shocked and mesmerized by what I saw and how much there was. Since then I've been bitten by the diving bug and long for opportunities to visit just to do more exploring. I just got back to Trinidad from there last week and the snorkeling and diving was amazing on the Mt. Irvine reef and wall. I'm strongly considering scuba diving, did it once but so expensive. I am, however, I'm looking into the hookah surface air breathing systems such as the NOMAD by Blu3 as the reefs in Tobago are quite shallow and there are soooo many diving sites. thank you again. I'm encouraged and inspired.

I hope you succeed in certifying as a diver. Being a local you may be able to get a deal on a diving package. Over the next few days I’ll publish a new video with fish in it from a few different islands in the Caribbean (Barbados, St Lucia and Bonaire as well as Tobago.). You’ll find the visibility much clearer in Bonaire than Tobago.

Hey thanks, I'll check it out (the packages) but last time it cost me $1000 per dive. I do look forward to finding clearer waters. We're supposed to go to Belieze some time. I hear the diving there is good.@@GerryGreenGoProMermaid

    • @WeldonScott

Its about $150 USD and when I think about it it's not that expensive. I can see from a foreigner's perspective when you invest in a whole adventure trip the airfares, accommodations, food etc. 4 dives for 600 USD is insignificant. If I were paying 600 TT for 4 dives that would be a no brainer. I however, have to wrap my mind around paying 7 times that for an activity that, in my mind, associates with just jumping into the waves for FREE. But, I'm loving this enough to invest in it. So, who knows.@@GerryGreenGoProMermaid

Oh BTW. I noticed in the video that there was almost complete absence of doctor/surgeon fish, and if I'm not mistaken, Parrot fish as well. I found that strange since parrot fish are common and I normally see doctor fish by the hordes, schools of hundreds when I go out.
You did though, showcase many that I've not yet seen in real i.e. the green moray, sharks, sea horses and the tiny black and white one with the long fins. Awsome! lets me know I've more to find. Barracuda found me on the last one.
