THANK YOU FOR SAILING WITH US!
#NOAA #Brookhaven #science
You never know who you'll meet on cruising trips. Must of been a great experience seeing that. Thanks for sharing.
David Duncan Thanks for sailing with us David. Sometimes I'm just so amazed that by cruising around the world we've been able to see some of the most incredible things and get to know some of the most wonderful people. I hope you'll enjoy our next episode on Tuesday where we get to see the particle accelerators. Here's to the cruising life! :)
Oh my,WHAT a cliffhanger!Cant wait to see the next!
Thanks, I don't think you will be disappointed. See you Tuesday! :)
I worked there 1982-2001.
Miss that beautiful place.
So many fascinating studies discoveries..
Shalom
Very cool you two were able to tour the place. Certainly a once in a lifetime tour.
W4ABN Hi Daniel, it really was pretty cool. And we'll publish our tour of the particle accelerators on Tuesday which was mind blowing to see. Sometimes I'm just so amazed that by cruising around the world we've been able to see some of the most incredible things and meet some of the most wonderful people. How's Rhapsody?
DrakeParagon's Real Cruising Life
Rhapsody is hanging in there. She's going to be in a refit for a while but "enjoying" the process so far.
Awesome just started but very well done
I don't understand why some comments on our videos don't have REPLY links next to them. I wanted to reply to a comment by Justin C, but there was no REPLY link available only on his comment. Any one know why this is happening or how to fix this?

Ahoy Justin,
I'm really glad to hear that you found this episode fascinating, but I'm sorry to hear that you were disappointed that the boat wasn't the focus of the episode. However, from our perspective, cruising is not just about that perfect sail, finding an anchorage, or the care and feeding of the boat. It is also very much about the people you meet along the way and the experiences you share with them. The goal of Season 2 is to tell the chronological story of what happened our on journey. A sailor and physicist at Brookhaven National Laboratory reached out to us as we were passing by and offered to take us on a tour of his workplace. These two episodes bring you with us on one of the most amazing experiences of our journey up the US east coast before we pushed off for Canada. I really think it's worth sharing.
Yes, I think ***** is on the money. Nothing you can do about that Drake other than maybe just post a comment and mention the original poster's name in your follow-up comment?
I have had the same issue and yes it is to do with the viewer's Google settings. They may not even be aware it, but when this problem occurs it is because their profile settings only allow people to reply to them if they are in their 'circles'. I have told this to the viewer anytime it has happened and once they have either changed their settings or added me to their circles then the problem was fixed. Ahhhh...gotta love 1st world problems! lol
BTW I loved the video and enjoy the many VLOGS I follow! Whether the episode is on land or water, for me it is about the journey and adventure! :)
Im in a marina in Portimao In Portugal this week. They have Wifi so Ive used it to catch up with Internet stuff including your videos. Always a pleasure to watch. I have been on a mooring bouy for 2 and a half months but am now able to have hot showers in the Marina . . bliss!!
barryperrins Hi Barry! That's great to hear! Congratulations on the boat and the move to the marina. I remember when the famous sailor/author Webb Chiles took a slip at the marina in Boston where I was living. He had just completed another year of long distance voyaging and was settling down in our marina for the winter. I remember him saying that he was going to take a long hot shower at the marina every single day because now he could. Such wonderful luxury!
barryperrins I'm also pleased to report that I have talked with some of the people who volunteer at the RNLI station here in Kinsale and that I think I will be producing a little documentary soon. :)
barryperrins I wish the timing was different and that we could see you in the same anchorage before we push off to sail back to Greenland in early April. But we'll be back someday! In the meantime watch out for the monster pigeons! :) ruclips.net/video/8UkIk1o-GRc/видео.html
I used to live on Long Island. Right down in Shirley-Mastic. Flew out of Brookhaven airport in my early aviation career. Traffic watch with a radio reporter next to me, all over LI and around Manhattan. Good Times, Drake!
cnypilot Good times... :) Thanks for sailing with us,
You lucky guys....that was very interesting and a chance of a lifetime to see such a place.
Johnny Wilson Meeting Stuart and getting a tour of the particle accelerators at Brookhaven National Laboratory really was one of the highlights of our journey up the US east coast before we pushed off for Canada. Thanks for sailing with us,
Can't wait till the next episode.
Thanks, we're working hard on the editing of it right now. See you Tuesday.
WOW that was a cool video, looking forward to the next Thanks
Tom Kemble Thanks Tom, we have quite a tour coming up on Tuesday. I think you will not be disappointed. :)
lol this whole video was totally interesting but reminded me why i had to take science twice :) maybe second was the charm because at least i could follow :) awesome video!
H Peterson Thank H! If this video inspires just one kid to discover a love of science then all of the work we put into producing it will have been worth it.
Wow... like gold flying through the air man...far out. Thank you so much for the totally unexpected and really cool subject matter.
It was wicked cool! :) Next Tuesday we'll get to actually see the particle accelerators NSLS 1, and then the much larger NSLS 2 under construction, and also have fun with liquid nitrogen.
Wow really interesting. You are so lucky to be there. Particle physics is a subject that makes you think how amazing the world is
+Michael Vine I hope you also enjoy the next episode (#24 Particle Accelerators) where we get a tour inside of Brookhaven's NSLS 1 and NSLS 2 (under construction) particle accelerators. (ruclips.net/video/s-KtdjK5VFY/видео.html)
NSLS II has come a long was since this video was filmed. We can't wait to go back to Brookhaven to see Stu someday!
SUPER WAY COOL!!!!!!
Thanks for sharing.
Glad you liked it. :) Thanks for sailing with us!
you teased the dragon, I thought I would see the dragon.....guess I will have to wait for the sequel on this one too! thanks for sharing!
Robert Pait Thanks, I think you will not be disappointed. See you Tuesday! :)
Hey Drake and Mo! Wow, what an experience, but the vid ended as it was getting good... I was lucky enough once to go into an Anechoic chamber. It was like being on a place not of this world. How cool you could see this!
Hi Douglass and Matt! An anechoic chamber sounds pretty cool. Sometimes I wish I had one of those. :) We are publishing new videos every Tuesday which tell the continuing story of what happened since we left Oriental. So today we'll publish the next episode, part 2 of our tour at Brookhaven. I think you'll like it! If you subscribe to the channel then you can get an email every time we publish a new episode. Do remember when before we left Oriental, I bought a flying filming drone? We've been using it to get some incredible aerial footage of places we've visited and we're putting them on a separate channel called ruclips.net/user/ParagonSkies which is just for aerial stuff. We're now spending the winter in Ireland, come on over and visit if you can!
Shame you are going north. No doubt we will be in the same area sometime in the future. Good luck with the enlisted video . Cheers for now.
Barry have a great sail and we'll see you soon!
well that was cool.
Thanks, my brain really needed a melt-down on a Thursday evening! This is not what I signed up for... where's the damned boat?!
It's still fascinating though.
Ditto. I look forward as well. Being land- locked temporarily and viewing your travels helps.
This clip was about an hour too short! And it was interesting to note that someone of such a scientific nature would have a Dreamcatcher hanging in their car. Interesting to say the least.
So in part II do get to hear all about the Westsail 42's????
Jimmy D Hi Jimmy, I wish our Season 2 episodes could be longer, but they are incredible time consuming to produce. We are doing our best with the amount of time and resources that are available to us to produce the best product that we can. We did have Stuart over for a home cooked dinner aboard Paragon anchored in Mount Sinai harbor, and we gave him a detailed tour of all parts of the boat, but on this night I was not filming. Our Season 2 episodes are for telling the chronological story of what happened our on journey. The series is really more about the experience and the story telling rather than focusing specifically on teaching or explaining in detail how stuff works. I am currently working on some realtime Q&A and status update videos for our Patrons at patron.com/DrakeParagon if you'd like us to produce a video for you personally answering your questions. Otherwise I'm glad to answer questions here in the comments when I can. There's also a ton of great information and discussion about the Westsails and cruising at westsail.com, westsailparts.com, and the Westsail Facebook group at facebook.com/groups/56090133789/ - tell them Drake sent you. ;)
Straight 👍
A leak of radioactive triddium wow
Looking forward to the next part Drake! Next time you happen to be in Switzerland, check out the LHC at CERN. That has a 17 miles diameter. Big boy! ;-)
Kismet Adventures Hi Marco and Desirée! I can't even image a 17 mile diameter synchrotron! It would be so wonderful to sail to Italy and settle for a while. Maybe we could find a marina in the north and then rent a car and drive to Switzerland to see the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. I wonder if they give tours...
You're way ahead of the Long Island Solar Farm (LISF) with your fully-operational solar array on your boat...although I suppose that you might produce somewhat less than 32 megawatts of electricity.
Jim H. HA! Technically we can produce up to 1,950 watts of electricity through our solar panels on Paragon.. nothing compared to the 32,000,000 watts made at LISF, but enough for running our lights, fridge, computers, and much more.
Living about one mile from BNL, and having our own well,as our neighbors, there was an outbreak of breast cancer. This effected my family and some of my neighbors. This comunity effected blamed the leaks at that old reactor for this cancer in women.
Cool, We have something like that at MSU.
bigblockcutlass123 It was pretty cool to see. Meeting Stuart and getting a tour of the particle accelerators at Brookhaven National Laboratory was one of the highlights of our journey up the US east coast.
Did you require any special security clearance to do the tour Drake?
ginge82 Hi ginge82, no I was not required to have a security clearance to go in the areas where we did. Everything that I saw/filmed was not classified information and can also easily be found on the internet. At times there are also guided tours that are open to the public.
Awesome. Thank you.
ON Long Island, not IN.....lol..
how can I reach you other than through You tube??
Douglass Wales Hi Douglass! We're on your Facebook and also email drakeparagon@gmail.com. We think of you guys all the time and I really miss home in Oriental.
There r two schools of thought (so to speak); one that believes in Big Bang and one that believes magnetics such as the pole shift created by the sun. The RUclips site for more information on magnetics is
Suspicious Observers.
Fate and destiny will play out why you visited this laboratory. Your answer will play out in your second half of life.
Sending great ocean spirit to guide you....little Bear
