  • Target Training: Probably the most important video to watch if you want to teach your pet any trick - step up, station and recall, spin around and more! Target training forms the basic building block for many of Wolfie's complex tricks, and we share the "secret" here!

Brilliantly explained. So simple and precise. I’m a first timer who’s just rescued a baby alexandrine parakeet and your video was extremely helpful. Thank you so much.

Target training is so essential and it's great you're sharing the skills you've learned with others!
Also awesome you're showing it from scratch for people learning/being so encouraging!
Sophie did one too for tricks like spin, but not for toy training. I still need to do mine at some point!

Your two videos finally inspired me to start training my parrotlet and he loves it! He’s already picked up everything from your two videos so fast! You’re very good at explaining the technique and I really hope you continue the series because I’m not exactly sure how to apply the target training to teaching other tricks. Looking forward to more videos! ❤️

That's great! Sorry we haven't been posting much on RUclips, have been caught up with work. You can start to use target training to teach him tricks like turn around, loop upside down. its very fun!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. I keep many birds in an aviary but have just ordered my first parrotlet. I want to train her and have her in the house with me. I’m wondering what the treats are that you give Wolfie? Also, is Wolfie wing clipped? The breeder recommended I do that but I’m not convinced and said no. I’d value your thoughts. I am a member of a lost bird group and see so many lost parrots of all sizes. Birds that have escaped and sometimes died. I’ve rescued several myself.

Hey! I have a parrotlet that I rescued and I want to train him but he is SO food aggressive. He loves me and will let me hold and pet him but when it comes to food or treats he will start yelling at me and will not hesitate to attack me. Do you have any tips of how I could train him without treats or how I could make him less food aggressive?! Thank you so much

What do you use for a treat? I have tried many different things with from yogurt treats, nuts, and millet and he doesn't seem to be exceptionally interested in eating any of them right away. He doesn't seem to be very food motivated. He enjoys the praise but it doesn't seem to be quite enough to get him target training. He is also a Pacific parrotlet.

    • @LittleWolfieBird

Our next video will be on diet and treats! Sometimes getting them food motivated depends on what you feed them in their main diet... Wolfie eats a lot of veggies, some fruit and sprouts, pellets and some seeds. We’ll explain more soon in our next vid!

Really good video! I’m into training myself. What do you use as a treat? I use millet, but would like to try out different treats.
