Dark versus Maru was an incredible series of professioonal StarCraft 2. In video I go over the first match of the best-of-7 Grand Finals of the WESG. It showcases a phenomonal patient move from Dark, that almost seems to taunt his opponent for the remainder of the series.

Swarm, indeed!
The beauty in this well-laid trap was how subtle it was. Nothing would appear amiss to the Terran play until very late in the game. And, by then, the trap has already long be sprung, and it would far too late to dig out of that hole. It just really takes the macro game to a whole new level - the patience and intelligence to make such long-range economic forecasts and use that as an effective weapon! Really amazing strategic thinking!
Also, new Zerg unit: Infested Investment Banker.
So what Dark does to win against the Terran new style is go tru the Kerrigan book of "We are limitless, and your numbers are dwindling by the minute"
This can only end one way.
Playing zerg how they are suppose to be played, overrun the entire map :p
Fear the Swarm!
versus a nearly idle terran. How about this: After realising the containment put in another strategy. You run very low on minerals with lets say 1k left spread out on 2 bases sacrifice all your workers. Kill them yoursefl quietly, max out and all in. I would have tried building cattlebruisers and use them to backdoor. but in hindsight everything is easier.
The problem is Terrans can produce just as fast as Zerg and overrun you with their endless amount of harrassment and area denials. Like Mass Ghosts, Banshees, Hellions and defending with Liberators and Siege tanks how are you supposed to win as Zerg?? D:
You got five bases? Good for you: I assimilated whole planet while you did it.
I really liked this video. Getting the game showcased instead of live commenting and listening to your analysis instead of your live reaction made this video so much more interesting for me. In most pro games i think: "Yeah, they can play", but seeing the thought on which the strategy was based really made this video for me.
Agreed! Listening to this analysis of Darks tactic and style was really cool! I'd love to see an attempt at analyzing Bombers style next (notably how nuking your own army wins the game)

wow, yesterday I played identical game... Except it was like bronze league game style and i contained terran on two bases. He maxed on battlecruisers and I didnt know how to counter but denied expansions. I won after like 30m when i made three vipers ( for the first time ever :D ) Slowly but surely i am getting there :D
Dark is litteraly an overmind.
But can he beat InoVatioN though? (idk how to spell his name)

Well , There are first overmind (original) and second overmind (The cerebrated version) so...
Fact:umoja was the first of the planets to be colonized by humans,there society was known for being prosperous with their own government and cutting edge technology(example their marines),they never supported the confederacy nor the dominion,though they did have personal ties with arcturus(it was actually here where valerian spent his first 7 as a child)after the confederacy brought tyranny some planets sided with the government,essentially making the"umojan protectorate".
Darth Vader Don't forget that Valerian's mother was an Umojan.
when will we get a umoja related mission pack or skins or COOP commander tho.
seems like wasted assets. Seems like they were suppose to play a larger part in heart of the swarm, but the zerus missions seems to have took too much time to make. Umojan marines skins would be nice.
This was a fine lore-friendly zerg-tactic :D

Yeah but he had to Zerg the map first which is the harder part.. Felt cool though, like a brutal challenge of PvE TvZ where Terran couldn't do anything to get outside of a contain :P
Now THAT is the swarm. I was more of a (casual) Zerg player in brood war, and this gives me nostalgia for that.

Ah! This style is easy peasy ...
I just need 4-5 extra guys on my side...
1 for Queen injects of 4-5 bases and unit production
2 for creep inspector who can make sure to spread the creep and build new bases
3 for controlling spell casters, brood lords
4 I can manage with ling bane and hydra (HOPE!)
5 oh and yes one over all inspector who can analyze what oppn is trying to do...!!

I like it from their perspective with all the apm. Puts things in perspective on how hard all of this is to pull off and how good these guys really are. Great casting anyway. Best caster ive ever heard

that is beautifull execution from Dark jesus, Zerg has the potential to be the most amazing race to watch take over the map, the literal swarm in the right hands. Thanks to lowko i gave them a sincere choice like a year ago, your videos with them were allways awsome,a dn now they are my favorite race to play on multiplayer, even thouh i'd allways love the protos units.

Lowko, I'm very interested in seeing a breakdown and analysis on the best plays in the last tournament. Like take your top 5 and do 5 videos on those. It;s fresh in your mind and you'll more insights looking back on the games.
This is such a swarm style I really like the game analysis videos it helps a lot when strategies get broken down so I can attempt them or try to counter them :D

thats the swarm play, i love it. it really is how zerg should be played with.
it really defines the all of what we see, when the zerg threatening the galaxy and then when kerrigan takes over.

This has been one of my favourite of your cast videos. Not sure if it was because there was much more overview tactical analysis or if its because I'd just recently been wondering if any games ever went to the stage where the minerals were all exhausted and then this came along. Great video though.

This is actually very smart. Think about it, if Maru had gotten the next base he could have been in a ideal position to kill all his SCV and advance... by not getting that base he was stuck in a weird zone where he had too many Command Centers with mules, As a pro he used all his resources as good as he could, he used mules, spent minerals and that made him ran out of resources. This was a great strategy, but extremely hard to pull out, you need great macro and micro to do it.

I think one reason for Dark to not engaging Maru till the 6th base is that he don't want to fight off-creep.

Unsure of the addition of the facecam... I know why people like it, and I do too normally, but for watching high level Starcraft matches it's a bit distracting. I only say that because, well, you're such an amazing caster, dude! You're super emotive and it's amazing! Of course that means a lot of movement on the side of the screen that's always there when I want to pay attention to something else. =p Lol.
I'd LOVE to see the facecam in lower league casts though, or when a bunch of dumb cheese is taking place. That'd just add to the insanity!

the caster very carefully avoids saying in the video is that "the requirement" of Dark's strategy is by default a great imbalance, and they still chose to not nerf hunter seeker.
I'd rather have the cast be like it usually is tbh. Where you just have the replay going, no pausing or speed-ups.

I'm a zerg. I love your zerg analysis games. Could you please teach how to deal with protoss? Every game feels so weird, and it's like I can't get a hold on the feel and timing. Also, this is good, but it is also good if you show us how we can use it at various levels (I'm diamond, but gold and plat players also would like to learn from pros). For example, some things that Dark does we should imitate, but some are way out of our league and we probably shouldn't try. So, help us know what to learn and what to pull from the pros.
