    Please tell us about that guitar strings and tunings

    • @JackJenningsGuitarist
      @JackJenningsGuitarist  3 года назад

      It is essentially standard tuning but the low E and A have been swapped for high strings like the Chikari strings like on a sitar.
      6th D - 8.
      5th D - 8.
      4th D - 28.
      3rd G - 18.
      2nd B - 14.
      1st E - 11
      The top 4 strings are from an 11 set. You could use 10 set gauges. But I find that the G-string works much better for bending if it's a thicker string. It actually allows you to get more pitch range before you run out of bending space on the fretboard.
      If you don't have the chikari strings then just 'drop D' tuning (DADGBE) will work to give you a drone. But you won't be able to play the chikari patterns.

      @@JackJenningsGuitarist I just tried using 2 high E string on 5th and 6th place. And i can't tell you how much happy I am. I always wanted sitar tone in guitar. Have you ever tried Mezram of sitar on guitar ?

    Hi! Beautiful rendition of Raag Yaman :) Could you please tell me how have you tuned the guitar for Hindustani Classical Music? I reckon the D string you're using has some different gauge than the regular gauge which comes in a strings set; perhaps have you been using it to get that specific sitar-like tone? Please guide. :)

    What is scale?

    • @JackJenningsGuitarist
      @JackJenningsGuitarist  Год назад

      It's based on the lydian scale with the raised 4th but skips the root and 5th in ascending phrases. There is a video lesson on my channel that explains it in detail. Thanks for watching
