Nice tones well rounded. I think it's a bit too dirty for Lenny. That's the tone I've been chasing for a while. I think the sheer volume of his amp in the studio played a big part olin that sound.
I think this tone comes primarily from the KTD -Jesse Davey, I'm not saying they're bad, it's just that with this and similar pedals, most pups have a wicked tone.
Yes I agree. There’s a lot of hype and mystique in music gear. You can find all kinds of players sounding great with basic and affordable amps and equipment.
What do you think of these Mark Foley sets? I've been pretty impressed by them myself. Remind me a lot of actual vintage guitars I've played. How do you think they stack up vs the Rolph sets? Never had a chance to play those.
Well the SRV sets are, in my opinion, not exactly a vintage set. Stevie sounded like that because of the amps and because of his playing. His guitar had 1959 pickups. That’s all. But these lone star are great capturing that sound. That’s why I sold them. I don’t like sounding like others. Not my goal. The rolphs I have are completely vintage. A 1961 repro. Both jim and mark are great winders. Pickups aren’t rocket science. But there are some mediocre winders of course. Jim and Mark are awesome.
lone star pickups! my favourite!
Indeed, a great set of pickups!
