This interview just blew me away. Stevie is so direct, so honest and so true. That is why she survived this very painful period in her life and lived to be the legend she is today..........she rings like a bell through the night and wouldn't you love to love her.....
That was one of the best and enjoyable interviews with Stevie that I've seen so far..She comes across as being a very honest and sincere person..keep on rockin Stevie
Her early influences were The Everly bro., Supremes, Beach Boys...well that explains how she got so good at HARMONIES. I’ve always said she’s one of the best there is at harmonies, whether in Fleetwood Mac or the legendary duets she’s done with Tom Petty and Don Henley. She has a natural, innate ability to harmonize and that is a very rare and special musical gift.
This is my favorite, so far. I loved seeing her laugh & tell from her perspective, what the road has been to her. She has always been an angel to my heart & ears. Love & peace to you, always.
I started harmonizing when I was 6. I remember my dad being amazed and me thinking but it's so easy. I almost annoy myself sometimes, like just stick to the melody! 😜
Interviewer: “And perhaps Whitney Houston in the future” Stevie: “Yes, but I’m so much older than they are” Wow. This honestly made me incredibly sad. How time did tell who would last into her 70’s and who would be gone to soon with a career that stalled in favor of drugs. Stevie got clean just a year or two before this interview. Thank God. Or she would be gone now too no doubt. I’m seeing Fleetwood Mac tonight in Philly. One of my all time favorite bands, and I love Stevie and Christine in particular. But now, in 2019, one can only wish to still be able to hear Whitney Houston sing live again. And the incredible Tom Petty, who Stevie did beautiful duets with and who was a true American singer/songwriter and a legend, is also gone. Because of prescription drugs. The legend that is the Purple One, the one and only Prince, gone because of prescription drugs. Stupid, needless death. We’ve lost so many, but Stevie is still with us. And I can’t wait to see her live tonight. And maybe those who have passed will be watching too. ❤️
Hope you has a fantastic Fleetwood Mac Concert night. And you were so buzzed from the wonderful sounds & atmosphere Sigh.. Living in Australia overseas bands are always so expensive then there's the transportation too and back.. Am so envious, you got to see them.
Molly Meldrum was a great Aussie interviewer who's started a tv show Countdown. Every kid under 40 watched it! I saw Stevie and Fleetwood Mac in their 80's tour in Sydney....cherished the memories of them❤️
Wow! I watched and taped this interview on VHS when this aired on Australian abctv in the 80's (pretty much wore out the tape) but I have never seen this unedited version and I thank you so very much xxx still totally captivates me even to this very day!
“Because of the kids I keep going”. Me as a kid and now my kids. I am retry sure their kids. You will live forever Stavie. Thank you for all you have done.
Stevie you're amazing. Don't leave a shitty comment people. You chose to look up Stevie, only to bash her? Lots of people have done drugs, her hair is hot for the year this is, and she is the real Stevie!
Rock goddess. Tusk, "people will get it." So true. When I discovered Fleetwood Mac in the late '80's, I wore out Tusk & couldn't understand why it was considered a failure in its time. If I weren't me, I'd wanna be Stevie Nicks!
Planet Martay It’s ridiculous really but they called it a failure because it sold “only” 4 million copies compared to their previous album “Rumours”, which sold 10 million copies at the time (40 million now).
I love this interview. Stevie is an amazing singer, writer and rock n roll star. Never tire of her songs. N E V E R. They are timeless, beautiful, and heartfelt. Stay vunerable and kind and good!
This is an amazing woman. I have watched morer recent interviews with her and seeing this allows me to see that she has always been amazing, I mean incredibly amazing, intelligent, she has "the look", and her voice is unrivaled. I have always loved Stevie Nicks and her music.
Wonderful interview, Molly always brings out the character of the artist, he is a legend and did so much for the music industry in Australia. Stevie is so adorable, she will rock till death.
This is a great interview because it's long and she's just as adorable as she can be. But, it's really annoying when the interviewer interrupts her when she's trying to tell a story. I wish he would just sit back and let her talk! I just want to hear HER, not his long questions. She is beautiful, self-possessed, creative, intelligent, kind, tender-hearted, mysterious and mesmerizing!
What a wonderful woman, it's so weird hearing he gentle spoken voice verses her lightning vocals singing.. I love how she is a great storyteller, an I adore her image" (the way she dressed) definitely original.
Her style is similar to mine ex for the boots. Except for the boots bc I'm tall.....no need ....I love her hair more at 70 We all wore the pouffy" hair in those days,.....,,, I'm turning 60 July 20 this 2021 She's 10 yrs my senior & birthday in May)
I agree with you Stevie, I am a self a taught guitarist of 30 years, and I never made much progress beyond playing some "Cowboy chords" to accompany my singing when I wanted to be Wes Montgomery or Jimmy Page. Due to an illness I've lost all of my guitars, but to scratch my musical itch, I have found an electronic piano that I put in my room at the rehabilitation center. I wake up everyday before breakfast and play for at least 30 minutes. I am learning the ragtime tune "The Entertainer" now, and am happy with my progress. 😊
That's really wonderful that you are doing that. I understand the environment and situation. Last year I was suddenly very ill, something went haywire in my gut and I was airlifted to a trauma center of a hospital and a team of surgeons worked on me all night....stomach, colon, lung and I was in ICU for 3 weeks, none of the surgeons, doctors or nurses thought I would survive, it was a miracle....septic shock, on ventilator, the whole nine yards, multiple surgeries. Eventually I was transported to a "Post Acute Medical" place, was there a month, then transported to another place for 3 weeks. Due to Covid quarantine, since I was not and would not get vaccinated, I was not allowed to leave my room for the first 2 weeks. And as you have probably experienced, these places are understaffed and it's challenging to be attended to much once you are moved from a hospital. I had some beautiful realizations about life in the midst of the trauma. I hope you are recovering nicely ^_^
Oh, I inherited my dad's Fender acoustic guitar, early model # as he made it to 83, passed away in 2011 and he had it since he was around 30, so it's quite valuable. I considered selling it at one point, but something told me, God will bring a man into my life who will play that guitar, hold onto it. You know, if you are over 65, Medicare should pay for almost everything, and along with social security, you may also qualify for SSI in addition, plus food stamps and Medicaid, which pays your Part B of Medicare. And you can still qualify even if you have a house as a primary residence.
I am so glad to know that you are doing well. I am an epileptic who suffered a grand mal seizure while raking leaves in Nov. 2018. I saw a bright white light, as every muscle in my body contracted at once. When I went down, my head struck my driveway from 5'8" up. Luckily my neighbor saw me and called paramedics. I underwent six (6) brain surgeries as the pooling blood was pushing down on my brainstem, which controls respiration. The lovely actress Natasha Richardson would still be with us if they had performed a craniotomy on her. I suffered a stroke during my 2nd brain surgery, that left me with paralysis in my arm and leg. I have never been a TV watcher, so I have spent the past four (4) years playing my electronic keyboard and studying the Bible. I used to only pray to God when I wanted something. My illness has taught me many things. One important thing is Gratitude. I HAVE to be grateful for the small things everyday, because tomorrow is NOT guarunteed . Peace, Benjamin 🤗
@@benjaminhawthorne1969 I know what you mean, gratitude is vital. God has us walking miracles here for a reason when we should have died. I keep myself occupied by watching documentaries on You Tube. @@dianeseymour6189 She wrote all of her song's about him on the Say You Will Album and told him. Listen to them and watch the documentary they made while recording. He has always loved her and they were getting back together during the 97 tour when his then gf/ wife announced her pregnancy. I heard that, any way.
Ah the mid 80's & Stevie's beautiful over the top mousse era💗💗💗 Kind of ALOT like Barbara Dare in retrospect back then (& if you got THAT reference lol)
Good interview. She's somewhat high here. Probably cocaine? But love how she's so open, honest, and in a humorous mood. You can tell she's a little different than in other interviews I've seen of her. Stevie's got a great and giving heart it seems.
It IS cocaine...this was around February of 1986, when she toured (illegally...no tour visa) w/ Tom Petty and Bob Dylan in Australia. This was right around the time she was told by her physician that the hole in her nose had become the size of a dime, and cocaine would kill her if she continued on. It was around this time she started ingesting cocaine, through weed most likely, in other manners to avoid having a brain aneurysm. I've always been under the impression that by October 1985, a month or so before the release of Rock A Little, Stevie was officially starting to go through (like during this interview) withdrawal symptoms from lessening the cocaine (on doctor's orders), leading to her beginning weight gain (its seen in the promo videos for "Talk To Me" and "I Can't Wait")...by the end of The Rock A Little Tour Stevie went from 105 pounds (in early 1985) to 120 pounds (by late Summer 1986 and Red Rocks Live). By Tango In The Night's release, in late Spring 1987, post-rehab, she was 125 pounds, and, officially (unfortunately), taking psychiatrist-prescribed Klonopin on a daily basis. So sad, but she does look good here, visually, vocally, and mentally, in spite of all that's happening to her here.
She may not necessarily "seem" under the influence...but, Stevie admits that she took cocaine every day by this time in her life. Mick Fleetwood said his drug use could also sometimes be hard to see, but he knew he was high. She still looks really good here, and at 37 years old no less! She still looks like she's in her late 20s here.
“My room was like dancing all the time”. Her room is me, whether I’m listening to physical records, cassettes, and CDs or listening to digital music with headphones on, IT’S ME. 🤣🤣🤣
You know what Stevie you are really important to me you really are when you said that it really touched me you just got to my heart thank you so much for saying so cuz you are important to me you really are I love you Stevie
Ok.... she's beautiful, talented, etc. but when she asks the band to choose between her & Lindsey was the last straw. I lost all respect for her. He is one of the main ingredients...a genius and brought them to stardom.
MAN O MAN! I didn't think I could love her anymore but I about cried several times watching this. I've always had this drawl to Stevie. Not in a cray cray way.... and I'm straight. Married 30 yrs in fact. But it's just this spark. I guess I'm officially a fan gurl lol. But she said things I thought only I thought and she's done thing's I thought only I did. Your so darn cool Stevie. I guess that means I maybe a tiny bit cool? IDK... just thinking out loud
Congratulations Stevie on being inducted into the rock n roll hall of fame as part of Fleetwood Mac and as a solo artist. Well deserved.

Shes a cross between Linda Blair and Carrie Fisher.
Yes. She's very positive and knows herself
She has an amazing worth ethic.

She's so adorable. What a great, interesting, sincere interview. I loved hearing all that background. I could listen to her talk all day long.
I know, me too! She's mesmerizing!
Yes! I'd adore hearing her rock n roll stories!!!! Her voice is soft & comforting to me....
Love her honesty. Whimsical, candid, vulnerable. One of the greatest singer songwriters ever 🌿💚
the way she said "i'm a rock n' roll singer" at 38:46 send a chill up my spine. she's so intense!
She’s so pop!
You can’t deny the conviction in her eyes!
Wow, Stevie Nicks is so sincere. What a woman.
Wow
No matter what she is always candid and there is no bull...love her
She need's to tell LB why she fired him when she love's him and he does her!
"Someday people will understand Tusk"......she got that right..
I hate that song. Mostly because of the tempo..the percussion. It's the only song they do that I just hate.
@@kristinesanservino6125 I think Stevie meant that, people will understand the double album that is Tusk, as an entity and statement work.
Tusk is my favourite Fleetwood Mac album!
Michele Smith I like Stevie & Christine’s songs on Tusk but not Lindsey’s so much.
Tusk is their Magnum Opus. I'm very late to the party, but what a diverse and daring album.
The era of Fleetwood Mac and bands alike were some of the best times in rock band history. I wish I could relive those moments.
Your not alone!
I wish I could have been alive for those moments. Best music came from the 60-80s and it's rock n roll.
Stevie is real and extremely candid about her personal life. She managed to juggle a solo career and be a member of Fleetwood Mac. Not easy.
She is also real high on cocaine are watever and hang over

I understand that she started singing harmony for her uncle or grandfather as he performed at local taverns. So, she has had A Lot of practice! 😎
She's also one of the few singers who can harmonize with herself! Blue Denim is a perfect example! Mama Cass had that talent also!

Stumpguy - Never has to fight.. but got screamed at several times,,
Stumpguy Did you win?
Respect my dude ahaha
I bet. I would have been pissed too
LMAO if we still had jukeboxes everywhere, that would be me, I still play Fleetwood Mac everywhere though. 🤣
in my view Stevie is the greatest female singer songwriter in history.
She's great. For me, Kate Bush is the Mummy ( well, if there's a 'Daddy' for the male singer-songwriters...) but Stevie is a heavyweight.
Your visions are all of mine except I see this beautiful belladonna as my soul sister
In that case sadly she will probably be soon to die like Olivia as all the talented ones die early. Tom Petty wouldn't be surprised.

Good interview. She's somewhat high here. Probably cocaine? But love how she's so open, honest, and in a humorous mood. You can tell she's a little different than in other interviews I've seen of her. Stevie's got a great and giving heart it seems.
Klonopin she's kinda drowsy and tranquilizer do that to you. cocaine is a stimulant a and makes you more alert.

So sad, but she does look good here, visually, vocally, and mentally, in spite of all that's happening to her here.
lifefource She does NOT seem "high"...!!! wtf is wrong w ppl... pick pick pick
Wonderful, :) I am the same ... can play the keyboard, but cant get my head around the guitar lol
She was spot on in her assessment of how Tusk would be appreciated years later..
“My room was like dancing all the time”. Her room is me, whether I’m listening to physical records, cassettes, and CDs or listening to digital music with headphones on, IT’S ME. 🤣🤣🤣
My idol for 40 years .
Hi there! Steviefied fellow soulmate! 🕊🕊🕊🌸🌸🌸

Interview..and yup..we all hear those spirits through you.
So humble
She is a Queen 💯💯
You’re a beautiful awesome magical human being ❤ 🙏🏻🌹
StumpGuy! Well done! My man! ;-) somtimes it gets too 'trendy' to knock these supergroups, People knock anyone when they sell far too many records.
Shes absolutely beautiful and oh so so talented. 😍
Molly Meldrum. A true music lover. A truly good interviewer.
I miss this music and passion
